Kind of a shit idea.
So from his point of view he gets to play CL football, his legacy isn't destroyed at United and he gets the same pay. We presumably don't have to pay a year of (full) wages and hope that he returns still being physically able to compete at the highest level at 39?

Seems odd and a bad idea, but I guess it has some weird kind of merit to it. Can't see it happening.

It won’t happen again in our lifetime. Especially not two players at the same time, at that level.
I tend to agree, like Ronaldo and Messi we won’t see, maybe only in the tail end of our lives depending on how old you are.

We’re taking about 2 of the 4 greatest players to ever play the sport.

I translate this as Athletico might be interested but they sure aren't paying a transfer fee or all his wages. But United can continue to sell CR7 merchandise in return.

But if he goes on loan in the final year of his contract it becomes obvious what's happening. Once he's gone he's gone.

I'll need Ronaldo to go fund me
Listen guys…:I know what’s the problem here.

Listen on behalf of all the Sporting fans and everyone in this forum….I’ll take the bullet and sleep with Georgina Rodriguez if that’s what it takes…

Spare your sorrows, I’m doing it for all of you :)

Makes no sense from any angle you want to look at it, so I’m going to choose to believe it’s nonsense.
It’s almost like….wait a minute….news outlets make fake stories up to sell papers and cause controversy…WOAH!

but seriously that’s ridiculous, sadly I’m sure some fans here believe it while heartedly.

Can't we get one of their strikers on loan too, felix maybe, Or even morata. Morata, Antony and De Jong would be decent.

I hope these are just wild swings and guesses by people on Twitter. I for one can't stand that a club the stature of United would be willing to act like pathetic **** begging a 38 old player to stick around with them while he seemingly has no problem ditching them.

Stop acting like fecking embarrassing losers and let the old guy bounce already.

Sounds like Utd are bending over backwards to keep a player nobody really wants.
That's the problem with sentimentality. It got us into trouble hiring Ole and it's what got us to sign an old Ronaldo back and it's currently has us begging him to stay instead of letting him feck off.

The rest of the world is well aware of what he isn't anymore while we're still acting like ***** begging a 38 year old dude to stick around. Sigh.

I have no idea either, yet.

Well I have read almost all 188 pages and the question remains: do I put Ronaldo in my Sun Dreamteam, or not!?

If it's true and in 2 seasons we've got a 39 year old Ronaldo starting for us I think that would be the most embarrassing deal we have ever done.

This HAS to be a joke, right? Right?

What happens if his loan to Atletico decreases his stock even further?

We're stuck with a 39yo on 500K wages who has 0 resale value?

Someone surely taking the mick.

Just tell him to stay ffs. Put up with it for a season and then can leave for free next summer.

This was a situation where the club couldn’t lose but stupid always finds a way.

If we make the Champions League without him, we’re over him.

Neh no loan, have to sell him if he goes or Ronaldo has to accept the contract he signed.

If he goes on loan he's not coming back. It'd be totally unworkable.
Agreed. Just have absolutely no idea why we would propose it. Unless we think it’s the only way to get him out this summer and hope wherever he ends up takes him permanently next summer?

And the club that takes him on is probably thinking we'll get one last good season out of him, some great marketing and press, stick two fingers up to Madrid and then send him back to his club as a 39yo without any intention of ever buying him.

We'd be fools if we did this.

Hopefully it’s just rubbish. Ducker did say early this week though we were considering triggering the extension which concerns me that’s it’s true.

That is just...wrong and nonsensical on so many levels  . Like saying "we know you don't wanna be with club during the hard times but i promise you in a year's time we'll be what you want us to be again. Will that make you feel better?"

I actually wouldn't be opposed to some sort of deal with Griezman coming our way as a stop gap (Barca player though so kinda weird). He might be a bit of an idiot but he works his socks off for the team.

Surely Utd need to send out a strong message. Get back to training or buy out contract and go elsewhere.

Paying him untold millions while his agent whores him around Europe is disgusting and top tier teams would not accept it. ETH needs to stamp his authority and quickly, as his head will be on the chopping block if he goes into the new season with this charade hanging over him.

Unreal that it is playing out that Ronaldo is bigger than Man Utd

Anything from Duncan Castles and The Times, I assume is coming from Mendes and Ronaldo's camp, not the club.

We'd have had Whitwell and Ornstein reporting the same as well if it was truly from the club.

Trying to figure what PR angle this move gives CR7 honestly by publicly mentioning this?
