Sounds like Utd are bending over backwards to keep a player nobody really wants.
So from his point of view he gets to play CL football, his legacy isn't destroyed at United and he gets the same pay. We presumably don't have to pay a year of (full) wages and hope that he returns still being physically able to compete at the highest level at 39?Kind of a shit idea.Tweet

I tend to agree, like Ronaldo and Messi we won’t see, maybe only in the tail end of our lives depending on how old you are.It won’t happen again in our lifetime. Especially not two players at the same time, at that level.
Makes no sense from any angle you want to look at it, so I’m going to choose to believe it’s nonsense.Kind of a shit idea.Tweet

Listen guys…:I know what’s the problem here.I'll need Ronaldo to go fund me
It’s almost like….wait a minute….news outlets make fake stories up to sell papers and cause controversy…WOAH!Makes no sense from any angle you want to look at it, so I’m going to choose to believe it’s nonsense.
The next natural progression product. Ronaldo Wines. It gets better with ageMaybe when he's going on 39 he'll be ready for us
I hope these are just wild swings and guesses by people on Twitter. I for one can't stand that a club the stature of United would be willing to act like pathetic **** begging a 38 old player to stick around with them while he seemingly has no problem ditching them.Kind of a shit idea.Tweet

And then you hear from the crowd: "Messi is better".I can go to a obscure village in the world and say the name Cristiano Ronaldo and they will know who that is. I know you lot are upset at the man but Jesus Christ…..
That's the problem with sentimentality. It got us into trouble hiring Ole and it's what got us to sign an old Ronaldo back and it's currently has us begging him to stay instead of letting him feck off.Sounds like Utd are bending over backwards to keep a player nobody really wants.
So you believe that nonsense tweet? That's the problem with sentimentality. It got us into trouble hiring Ole and it's what got us to sign an old Ronaldo back and it's currently has us begging him to stay instead of letting him feck off.
The rest of the world is well aware of what he isn't anymore while we're still acting like ***** begging a 38 year old dude to stick around. Sigh.
Agreed. Just have absolutely no idea why we would propose it. Unless we think it’s the only way to get him out this summer and hope wherever he ends up takes him permanently next summer? If he goes on loan he's not coming back. It'd be totally unworkable.
Yeah even if it's a cunning plan to offload and it backfires and we're back here in 12 months it will be hugely embarrassing. If it's true and in 2 seasons we've got a 39 year old Ronaldo starting for us I think that would be the most embarrassing deal we have ever done.
Aye, there might be an angle but it just seems like nonsense.Agreed. Just have absolutely no idea why we would propose it. Unless we think it’s the only way to get him out this summer and hope wherever he ends up takes him permanently next summer?
And the club that takes him on is probably thinking we'll get one last good season out of him, some great marketing and press, stick two fingers up to Madrid and then send him back to his club as a 39yo without any intention of ever buying him.Agreed. Just have absolutely no idea why we would propose it. Unless we think it’s the only way to get him out this summer and hope wherever he ends up takes him permanently next summer?
Hopefully it’s just rubbish. Ducker did say early this week though we were considering triggering the extension which concerns me that’s it’s true. And the club that takes him on is probably thinking we'll get one last good season out of him, some great marketing and press, stick two fingers up to Madrid and then send him back to his club as a 39yo without any intention of ever buying him.
We'd be fools if we did this.
We can't do that since he's under contract for another season. He would likely have to buy himself outThis would make us a laughing stock.
Just offer him a free transfer ffs.
That is just...wrong and nonsensical on so many levels . Like saying "we know you don't wanna be with club during the hard times but i promise you in a year's time we'll be what you want us to be again. Will that make you feel better?"
Wait Ronaldo has a unilateral option for a third year????? What idiot agreed to that?
Please, never ever post a picture/ gif of that idiot
