Barcelona feels like a future economics case study for most undergrad students right next to Wonga.com

fecking hell, it would be so poetic if Wonga was still around so they could try and become their main sponsors

"Barca fans won't accept FDJ sitting on the bench, he's too good of a player, he's got all the power"

Actual Barca fans: "FDJ was working in cahoots with the last president to bankrupt the club, 50% reduction is a gracious offer"

Tbf Barca are not asking FDJ to take a 50% pay cut. They are only insisting that he redistributes 50% of his wages to their new signings each month.

Big week this week! Medical on Friday!
We'll feck up the deal at that point. The team doctor won't be able to help himself and say something like "Frenkie, I'm worried about your weight. It looks like you've recently lost 14 and a half million pounds..."

Really? Come on.
?

What's wrong?

He's being shafted as a CB, they want him out and it is entirely plausible they've told the players to isolate him/demoralise him.

This is a club that is running away from a £17m commitment to him that he made out of concern for the club.

Is this right though?

I've seen different versions of the tale. Some people say he agreed to his wages being deferred. Other people say he actually renegotiated his contract so that his wage structure escalates every year, rather than being at the same consistent level over five years.

If he agreed to change the payment schedule of his wages then he's not owed anything, really. Not if he agrees to leave before the contract was due to be completed, which is what we want him to do.

Ultimately, I think (and hope) Barcelona will just make it clear to him that he needs to go. I think he'd be great at Man Utd. However, this whole situation is so messy.
Whichever way it happened, what bothers me most of all is how Barcelona are abusing the pandemic for their gain. Or more accurately, the goodwill of a player during a pandemic.

It’s disgusting, almost comparable to Amber Heard levels of money pledging. It’s like collecting money for a charity but then trying to weasel your way out of paying it.

I really hope that Barcelona end up paying the price for this kind of behaviour. But looking at the way players still don’t mind signing for them, I feel like they’ll wiggle their way out and the fanboys and girls will continue as if nothing ever happened.

Sorry for derailing the thread; getting back on topic:

50.000 total thread posts by the end of today...gogogo!!!

they were probably the only two occasions, though it has to be said he clearly wants to drive forward, and biscuits/nico made no effort to cover him when he did roam. OK in a friendly but will get murdered trying to play that way in the CL
