This might’ve been posted yesterday actually, but it’s a nice and refreshing break from SPORT
I think that tweet makes an even better point.....ALL of this absolute gobshite reporting is coming from Spain. We get a new report from a Dutch journo and it's almost verbatim to Simon Stone/BBC or Ducker/Tele. We are all being sucked in for Spanish media hype, meanwhile our best journos for MUFC have been silent for WEEKS. The last update from Ducker coming from Bangkok that we were prepared to go the whole window. Then radio silence.

This thread is particular has generated absolute hysterics off hourly Spanish reporting that UK journos won't even touch. fecking SPORT are the only ones pushing this Chelsea narrative, UK Chelsea Tier 1's won't touch it with a barge pole, yet fecking doomers in this thread are posting "FDJ WANTS CHELSEA". :houllier:

Not sure of the account but unless FDJ leaves or Barcelona sell another lever which they do not want to do they can’t register new players. They even tried to stick in a clause saying the Raphinha deal would be null and void if they couldn’t register him.

Ahhhh ok. Gotcha. Not sure how legit that is. They'll just whack another lever down if thats the case I think

100% this. People are too close to it, wanting updates every hour and jumping when there is any new tweet. It's clickbait nonsense and folk are falling for it.

At this point I'm not even sure United are still after de Jong.
Seems more likely Barca are pushing de Jong to leave and he doesn't want to come here, maybe ETH let it go already. I just hope we're using this situation to find an alternative for midfield in the meantime.
This is what everyone needs to get past. We aren’t looking for an alternative to FDJ. It’s him or developing current player. It’s why we can hang on there till last day if necessary

You know what I can't work out? Why there is a divide in here. I think we're all in collective agreement that he'd improve us. So WHY are there people who seemingly don't want the transfer to happen? It doesn't make sense. Is it so you can say "I told you so" if he doesn't come?

I find it utterly bizarre.
There are people who don't think it's going to happen. While he'd improve us, he isn't that great to be worth all that hassle and the risk of going through this transfer window without signing a midfielder.

So first it was everyone, now it's top targets. As for Sterling and Koulibaly being dregs
City couldn’t wait to get rid and no one else was interested, KK is 31 and on the decline (again no one else interested).

Main targets have all said no to Chelsea.

If they didn't put the clause in they've already bought him so we wouldn't be able to take him off their hands, would we?

We are not the club we once were. Ther is more clubs than City and Liverpool that can offer Champions League football every year. Real, Barca, Bayern, PSG, and many others.
I'm talking about the Premier League. Also, if what you're saying was true, we wouldn't have managed to sign Mata, Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Pogba, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Matic, Sánchez, Maguire, Fernandes, Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo...all of them huge names and/or world class players or close to it at the time we got them. Funnily enough we've signed bigger names when we couldn't offer CL football.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

It isn’t going to happen but I’m not sure. You can’t sign for 3 clubs in a calendar year can you? But clubs buy players then loan out immediately so maybe they could loan him. They’d likely just keep him for the CL and cups anyway until January. What a mess though

Maybe I need to put some highlights on this.
ETH has said it’s FDJ or nobody else, he will develop someone that’s already there. That’s why they are hanging on to the end, they aren’t chasing an alternative to FDJ.
so anyone saying walk away now, why? You may as well hang in there. If you can’t take the suspense I suggest you stop reading about transfers for another month
See I’ve seen people saying that but from what I remember (I admittedly have a brain like a sieve) he said if we can’t get the right player or something like that? I took it as it has to be the right type but not necessarily Frenkie specifically.

There’s been a lot of chat on Twitter about Milenkovic Savij (no, I will not be looking up the correct spelling of that!) and in the comments people are typically saying they’d prefer him to Frenkie. For what it’s worth, I’d be just as happy with him, he seems like a complete midifielder with great physicality and a huge upgrade on McT (not a huge claim I know).

Barcelona need him sold before La Liga starts August 13 and are now trying to push Frenkie out by putting pressure on him to act before United's fanbase turns on him.

They also briefed that they think about selling Ter Stegen because Frenkie won't leave to alienate him from the Barca fanbase. Disgusting club.
That’s like selling the milk in the fridge because no one wants to buy your fridge.

Exactly. No reliable journo either from the UK, the Netherlands or Spain have said that Frenkie doesn't want to join us or reported anything on Chelsea. Romano hasn't said anything like that either.

It's 2022 and most people still believe every single piece of sensational, unreliable, made-up news from known bullshitters.

And how many have refused to come to us in last few years. It's always the answer who we can sign when they are offered big money, but never who refused to sign, because of no Champions League .

The most hilarious part....we keep seeing these "move on" posts, the man himself, ETH sat at press conference and was the one to say 'we want X type of midfielder and if we can't get it we will look in the squad"

Our best fecking source for taking the FDJ saga to the end of the window...IS OUR feckING MANAGER :lol:

and when you try to point this out it's like screaming into a void and then in the faint distance you hear someone say "this is embarrassing, I hope we move on":lol:

Iqbal, Garner, Savage, Hannibal all been mentioned. Iqbal got the most attention of them all in pre season.
If Ten Hag perceives De Jong as this unique player with no alternative, what's the chance he can turn any of those into a player of the same mold?

Fair enough. I don't see how it's 'hassle' for a fan to be honest, I think thats where my confusion comes from

I wouldn’t believe that one, it’s been doing the rounds for like 5 years already. The CEO there is crazy and money hungry. I’m sure he’s just trying to lure out buyers or just lazy links.he’s becoming a Gaitan link at this point

Fair enough I guess time will tell if we go down that route and hope if Zidane is the one to mold that he is given time to develop into that player. However for right now we need a ready made player.

I'd take him. He can catch crosses, right?
Now that I think about it, Ter Stegen might be a better and more integral addition than De Jong for Man United.. (provided you add another good midfielder instead of Frenkie)

I know, its.. I dunno actually. I can’t fathom how people just un-switch what they don’t want to hear. The coach literally said it himself. Maybe the brains are harder to catch up

Good one mate. How's Kounde going for ye so far?
I was just kidding about the Chelsea part, just enjoying this thread and hysteria over FDJ. Every summer there's one classic thread about somebody possibly joining MU on the Transfer Forum that lasts for weeks and weeks and it's always entertaining.

City couldn’t wait to get rid and no one else was interested, KK is 31 and on the decline (again no one else interested).

Main targets have all said no to Chelsea.

We're going to be fine, thank you. This is my last reply since I can't post more than five a day, but it was a pleasure talking to you too.

And if that was the case, would you say it was a good choice? Or at least an appealling one? Personally I would like to see that happen for better or worse.

Plus, it would have the added benefit of turning loads in this thread into swivel eyed, frothing mouthed maniacs.

Well, you can go on and list those players because I don't know any.

We were chasing Fabregas in 2013 who was never gonna leave Barca that summer. We also tried for Bale last minute but he had his mind set on Real Madrid for a while by then...even Ferguson wouldn't have changed that imo.

We decided not to pursue Thiago. LVG pulled the plug on the Kroos deal.

The only player I can think of is de Ligt back in 2019, but our interest was never actually confirmed by the most reputable sources if I recall correctly. And it isn't like we would've been first choice all the time for every player had Ferguson not left and/or our success continued after 2013.

 I’d like it for the giggles but I’d also be excited to see how the development of such players could turn out
