The biggest issue for Chong is that he can't shoot, pass or dribble properly.
He was great playing for Birmingham centrally in the games I watched. He was tenacious in the tackle, he would go on driving runs and had a final pass.

I agree he has been pretty woeful today.

Why is this match even being played right now? Surely they knew well in advance it was the conclusion of the Women's Euros this evening and once England got to the final, why not move the kick-off to 1.30 or 2.00pm at the very least? That would allow most people who attend time to get home or to a TV for the big game at 5, possibly the first time England lift a cup since 1966.

Man Utd. were a bit slow to even have a woman's team, to be honest and the fact this game will still be in progress when the lionesses kick-off is pretty disrespectful. I bet it has something to do with MUTV and international contractual agreements and £££s. But at the end of the day it looks bad: not only do Man Utd. have the most arrogant player in world football, but they even consider themselves to be more important than England's women.

Step aside 'King' and let the Queens have the limelight for once, its obvious this Euros timetable was organised years ago to end today, to fit in with the early start to the Premier League (because of Qatar). Surely United could have shown a bit of foresight and co-ordinated their pre-season around that. It's a PR own-goal and shows Man Utd. to be out of touch with the mood of the nation.

Anyway, I'm closing this down now and putting BBC1 on - good luck to Man Utd. in the second half, but I will read about it later - I really think they have messed up today, by kicking this friendly game off at the wrong time.
Games are allowed to be played at the same time as other games. Changing it would be disrespectful to people who’d bought tickets and might have other commitments at different times. It’s unfortunate but that’s it.

I think most players are making this a quite easy selection for EtH for next week, I'd love to see:

De Gea
Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Malacia
Garner - Fred
Eriksen
Sancho - Ronaldo - Garancho

Though probably going to go with:

De Gea
AWB - Varane - Maguire - Shaw
McFred
Bruno
Sancho - Ronaldo - Rashford

Takeaways from the first half for me:
- Heaton may be fine if he's the no.2
- Martinez extremely composed on the ball
- Varane looks uncomfortable on the ball
- Laird could do with another loan
- Chong should be sold
- Garnacho should be given a chance ahead of the other young forwards

I think Ronaldo has been okay. The midfield have been okay but not controlled the game, though can't say they've been particularly bad or good as a collective or individually.

Garner also gets too much hype for what he's showing. I'm not seeing much that convinces me he's going to make it here. Will turn out to be a decent player. At one of the very best clubs though? I doubt it.

Chong is a guy who Liverpool would've sold 3 years ago for 30m. Why the feck do we keep our duds forever?

- Varane and Martinez look good.
- Laird is a bit shaky. Chong awful.
- Garnacho the best player on the pitch.
- With Ronaldo, we seem to be in a mid block, and not pressing that high.
- Eriksen is absolute class. VdB still not impressing, but couple of good touches. Garner has done well too.

Tone down on the Garnacho hype guys. He's been ok in a really overall uninspiring performance.

Mutv has been laughably bad today. Whoever was in charge of production must have been on a piss up last night.

Pity you don't work for our development squads, could save us a lot of time wasted
He is 22 and has been at the club since 2016. Either the development squad is nonexistent or Chong is a lost cause.

Like Elanga yesterday, nothing I've seen of Chong so far makes me think he can play regularly on the right wing for us.
At least Elanga gets fouled, goes down and wins a freekick. Chong runs like he has a bird nest on his head and can't see anything.

Garnacho been super impressive, looks like a real talent, I’d be having him on the bench for sure. Midfield has looked decent with Eriksen and Donny playing deeper and closer together, unfortunately it will be back to McFred v Brighton. Laird and Chong are miles off, don’t see either ever making the first team as regulars. Garner needs another loan but if we balls up this window will need to stay as cover.

We need to start scoring goals again soon mind. I worry for next week.

Overall half decent performance. Bit scary though that some of these guys will start for us and the others are our squad options. We really lack a huge amount of depth in midfield and especially on the wings.

Chong is the same as Elanga, technically woeful and no end product.

Cant count on either of them, both destined for some 2nd tier European league

Laird and Garner both not good enough to play for United. Martinez looks great on the ball, Varane looks god awful.

Good test from R.V, they are playing very intensely which will allow Ten Hag to see how the players react to this and fine tune his tactics and plans accordingly.

Enough watching Chong, time to watch the ladies play actual football.

Disjointed performance with a B-team of players who have had almost no preseason and haven't really played together. Pointless reading too much into individual performances based on this last 45 mins alone.

Best player in the first half
He was not the best player. He was in the spotlight that half and if he had shown quality we might have been 3-0 up. He looks to me like his heads down, maybe in a DvB “I know deep down I’m bot good enough” sort of way.

Yeah I agree, but that's mostly down to Laird letting in a lot of crosses, which had to be cleared. Also our right side has been really bad, so I can understand the hoofing. Usually he is very calm on the ball.
