Youri Tielemans for 30 mill is a good piece of business. I know he dropped off a little last season ut at that price he'd be a great alternative to FdJ
Can we stop with this already. Veey different players. Will not be an alternative.

You really think Chelsea signing an 18 year old midfielder means they've decided against signing De Jong? Whether they are genuinely interested in FDJ or not, I assure you Chukwuemeka's signing will have no impact on that interest whatsoever.
If Kante and Jorginho stay with RLC essentially ruling out a move, Gallagher being in the 1st team frame and Kovacic there yes it`ll be a big shock if they spend 85m on FDJ now.
Chukwuemeka is a talented player

Any Chelsea tier 1 sources reporting Chelsea being interested in FDJ?

Matt Law picked up on it yet? If anyone would know he would right..
Nothing from Law just like nothing from Ornstein, Whitwell, Stone or Romano which tells me it’s coming from Barca to up our offer to cover De Jong’s outstanding £17 million.

Chelsea signing the kid from Villa when they’ve already got Jorginho, Kante, Kovacivic, Mount, RLF, Gallagher, Barkley and Gilmour and being linked with centre backs, wing backs and forwards is yet another indicator that they’re not in for De Jong.

It’s quite obvious in this signing they are looking at their future midfield not the here and now.

It shows doing something in the CM area isn’t a priority this season.

Just as I suspected
Chelsea have had an emphasis on signing talented young players for over a decade. They are basically a meme for hoarding and sending youngsters on loan. It doesn't say anything about their view of cm. It could easily be a priority for them. I've never been convinced that they don't have some interest in FDJ despite most on here insisting it's just Barca spreading rumours. I think Chelsea have a lot of weaknesses in their midfield with both Kante and Jorginho ageing with contracts set to expire at the end of the season.

Exactly, spending 70m+ on a position they don't need an immediate upgrade on would have been ridiculous.

Ruben Neves  Dear Lord, we are thoroughly fecked if we have to rely on a guy whose peak is Wolves to fix our midfield!
With that logic, Liverpool should have already been relegated with their signings. You’ve got players in their starting XI’s whose peaks prior to joining them were Southampton, Hull, Hoffenheim, Monaco.

Bottom line, Neves is a brilliant footballer. Goal threat from distance too.

That's a bit of a bizarre thing to say. Mane came from Southampton. Rooney came from Everton. These players have to come from somewhere.

They have also signed Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.

It’s quite obvious signing a new CM for €85m isn’t on their radar given they have Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, Gallagher, RLC, Gilmour and Mount.

They have now added these two youngsters who both play…. central midfield.

I think the likely scenario is they are going to use what they have and blood these two in as Kante/Jorginho phase out.

If you think they are going to add De Jong then fair enough but I think it’s clear what they are looking to do with their midfield and they have other areas they want to focus on this summer.

The underrating of Neves is so weird, are these people just not happy with signing someone from Wolves? He would be a huge upgrade for our midfield, as we can move Fred forward.

Think he means he's got nowhere else to go for years now. Spurs arsenal chelsea all overlook this guy.

This one is dead in the water. He’ll stay at Barca to earn his cash in a team that has no real power to shift him.

What an aggressive waste of a forum saga.
I think he leaves but whether it’s to United is the question. Barca are literally trying to push him out to save money and register players.

The belief from the people who think he'll come to united is that sorting the differed wage issue is the hold up.

The people who think he doesn't want to come either seem to think that's not the issue or that if he really wanted United it would have been sorted long ago. And so this is all proof that we should walk away because he clearly isn't interested.
So now we have the Chelsea link... Apparently (From the doomers) he would much prefer Chelsea as they're in London and they have champions league football, and if they come in for him we'll certainly miss out. He's just been stalling all this time waiting for them.
So... Why have they not come in for him yet? The season is about to start... We've agreed the fee. That's the point where someone would step in and gazump the original bidder. Why would they wait so long after that?

He's either dead set that he's not leaving (This is a stance I don't believe as there is no way he's stupid enough to really think his position there is tenable), or the differed wage problem is the hold up and his stance is not a slight against United or a lack of interest.

What are the benefits of coming to United other than money and playing for a manager he wasn't as close to as you claim reportedly? If it does happen it will be because nobody else was able to pay the fee we agreed with Barca, is that really the type of player we want as good as he is? somebody who was basically forced to join the club? What if we're bang average again next season with him on the team, how long before he decides Utd don't match his ambition and moves on? That doesn't seem to be taken into account because it seems like our transfer strategy all summer has been to fulfill ETH's wishes which is commendable but again not the smartest way to conduct transfer business at all.
Again, this is all speculation as to his feelings...to which we have no facts. It might SEEM like he is reluctant to join us. But there are no facts that suggest this yet. In fact there are many reports that the club SEEM fairly confident in his desire to join us from speculation as well. So that would contradict all of these "reports".

The only facts we have are...We want him. There are complications between FDJ and Barca. So my point is that he could easily want his money; so he's quietly negotiating for it. Because he doesn't want Barca fans to hate him. and then when its sorted he moves on to us. Because Barca SEEMS pretty desperate to sell him.

But I'll make no determination until there are facts. And today the facts are...we want him. Theres complications. We need a MF. Hopefully it works out...

I like Neves. But if he's our second choice then our determination to ride the De Jong saga out makes sense to me. Not only is he not as good and likely to be relatively expensive in his own right, he's not someone we seem likely to miss out on by waiting.

I've never even heard of Omari Hutchinson. Is he supposed to be particularly talented? I would assume yet again he isn't seen as someone who has much place in the 1st team this season or next. From what I've seen RLC is likely to leave before the end of the window. Jorginho and Kante's contracts are up at the end of the season and instead of relying on 2 youngsters to replace them, it is more likely they would want someone they're more confident can definitely make the step up now. I seriously doubt they intend to use Gilmour this season considering he wasn't particularly impressive at Norwich. I expect he'll be going back out on loan. Mount can fill in in midfield sure but he's definitely at his best on the right of the attack and I would expect that's where we'll see him most this season. Gallagher I'd expect will get a lot of mins but from what I've heard in the pre-season and the bits I've seen he might not be fully ready to take over from Kante yet. He was great at Palace but I expect Tuchel will want the option to rotate him in and out at this stage. Kovacic will of course start every game he's available for. He does have a history of injuries which could recur and they need to be prepared for that just in case. Most importantly, which of these players can actually fill in for Jorginho? There are perhaps options to replace Kante/Gallagher/Kovacic but who can play that deeper playmaker role? FDJ would fit that role perfectly and be a significant upgrade on Jorginho imo, who will likely not even be a Chelsea player next season.

I don't even necessarily think they will get FDJ. I still think he'll just end up staying at Barcelona and take the massive wage he's due personally. I just don't assume that Chelsea aren't interested in him and I see plenty reason why they would be.
