Gerrard might be in trouble. Hope that kills this idea of him managing Liverpool after Klopp.

Why? That would be ideal. It would be their Moyes and Ole mistakes rolled into one.

Edit: never mind I just now saw who I'm replying to.

Atrocious performance today. The only positives was Nunez looking good when he came on and getting a point. After playing a good game against City a week ago, I was surprised by our complete lack of urgency apart from maybe 15 minutes.

To try and explain our team - the best we played in pre-season was with that back 5 and our full backs pressing high up the pitch and our wingers cutting insider and letting them overlap so that's self-explanatory. McNeil and Gordon are hard workers, so is Iwobi hence why we have chosen them all as options. Allan and Gbamin are short on match fitness and other options are injured (Gomes, Davies etc), same with our strikers (DCL injured, Rondon banned). Dele would have been an option too but I imagine he's chosen Gray for the press and to play on the counter. Today is another game where it's about defence first and foremost and sneaking a goal.

Fair enough if you don't have any other fit options, but it's tough to see Chelsea not having a nice easy time against whatever that midfield ends up being.

I think they've mostly looked fairly naff in their preseason as well though, so here's hoping you can nick something.

I agree but we are making midfield signings so that should be sorted out soon. I don't expect any points but a good performance is a must as we have winnable games after this.

Gerrard's a rubbish manager. That Villa team should be finishing in the top 8 with the quality of their squad

He has a lower winning percentage than Lampard since they both came in to Everton/Villa but the media hate one and love another.

He smirks a lot and looks cool on the touchline, though.

I guess Dean Smith took Villa as far as he could but Gerrard hasn't shown anything yet to suggest they upgraded their manager.
