To be fair he is the level of player that a team who lose to Brighton would buy.

in 2013 did you guys think it was going to get this bad moving forward?
No, I shamefully quite enjoyed the shit year under Moyes because in my heart of hearts I think I assumed Utd would be back to the top level soon and it would be period we could look back on and laugh at in a "Do you remember that year we were shit, how fun" kind of way.

Karmic justice.

Brobbery, Sesko, Kalazdjic, Arnautovic. These are the strikers we've been linked with and they all seem to fit certain criteria - physical, rotation quality and supposed to be cheap. It seems like we are just looking for a striker that offers something different in attack and not necessarily one that would be starting games. Makes sense when we plan to keep both Ronaldo and Martial

I drunkenly posted a few months back that United could be going the way of Leeds. The reality of that is becoming much more solid with each action of our board and owners.
We won't go the way of Leeds because we're too strong commercially and we don't spend recklessly (we spend badly, but within our means). But it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the two clubs finish within a few places of each other in mid table within the next few seasons.

Nope, I was just glad i didn’t have to make the difficult choice of whether we got Jose or Pep to succeed the great man. Then we spent the summer shopping at goodison.

We may as well play a youth team striker or elanga rashford etc down the middle. Wtf would this mercenary bring us in all honesty? Wasnt particular good when he was in his prime, let alone at 34

This is a bizarre one and seemingly a cut price option.

The negative side of me thinks this is penny pinching by the glazers

The positive side hopes if we are going down this route it’s because we are now spending big elsewhere (FDJ).

Let’s see what happens.

Surely. Surely. Surley there is a better footballer on the planet that we can get. Might as well donate our scouts salary to charity if this is the best we can do. I don't understand it. Two months chasing De Jong. Yeah I get the whole Eric thinks he is vital to his project, That's fine. But it looks like if it's not him it will be Neves or Tielemans or some other bang average player that every 13 year old playing Fifa career mode can identify. This is getting Ridiculous.

Arnautovic is very good, and I actually talked about him as a striker for us last season. An other striker option I would love to see at United is Mitrovic, and I would prefer him over Arnautovic, because Arnautovic is 33 years. I think Mitrovic could score 20 goals in the PL, if he played for a better team.

Malacia did very well in the Dutch league and is still young, and EtH knows him very well so fair to get him in.

Eriksen is a quality player, and is signed on a free transfer, so it's a good addition to the squad.

Martinez was superb in Ajax with EtH, tad expensive but we can all see why he is brought in.

De Jong is an excellent CM and played his best under EtH, it's clearly obvious why he would be a prime target for the midfield.

But Arnautovic !!! even as a 3rd ST option behind Ronaldo and Martial, he is really quite below average, I can't justify him being an EtH target, and if the reports are true (reliable and credible might I add), then I'm concerned, I'm still 100% behind EtH but Arnautovic is an extremely underwhelming option to bolster the attack options

Do they understand that good players don’t want to play alongside the likes of this guy? You can’t go out and sign good players when they see you’re shopping in the bargain bin and desperate

It would have got like this an awful lot sooner had Fergie retired first time around when it looked like he might do. David Gill and especially Fergie hid a million sins of these charlatans.

I don't think we'd return to the top with Pep in charge. The people above the manager just aren't good enough at their jobs and get rewarded for failure.

I dont know whats more laughable, being linked with him to begin with or having a bid rejected by Bologna........ farcical.

Where the grass is greener.
For our dressing room of egos and players who think they're the dogs bollocks, how do they react to a player of this level coming in? Hardly inspiring is it.

West Ham reject with ego problems, what can go wrong?!
Some said the same about Cantona. I am not saying that Arnautovic is like him, but to be fair it has been a while, since he last made troubles (as far as I know). He is 33 now and older.

To be fair once a season he has a game where he’s unplayable. Maybe the plan is to buy him and just play him for that one game?

Usually after a bad result we get some news about the Glazers planning to paint the windows or replace the toilets on the roof so at least this is a different tactic.

It is 100% true.
Isn’t this the same shite that ended up in Chinese football? Isn’t this the guy with a piss poor attitude….…and people wonder why Frenkie sooner stay in Barca.

It's true. Looks like the club have briefed Luckhurst on the justification - pragmatic, short-term option, good character in the dressing room etc

In fairness he's then gone to town on them on twitter. I usually barely agree with a word he says however do in this instance.

Yes, but it will take us another three weeks to sort it out.
Goes without saying, of course. A Deadline Day nail-biter, as we anxiously wait to hear the good news that the deal has fallen through.
