Incredible. Spanish radio claim Barcelona jointly set-up a holdings company to which it paid €150m of its own money to buy its own assets (to inflate value of sale). La Liga rejected it as not "new" money. Barça must now pay €37.5m tax on this payment. (per Collin Millar).
If true, this would be a monumental failure on so many levels. Holy crap.

and a forward after that
There are no forwards to buy that can fix our primary issue though. Jorgihno is one of the most overly careful, negative players in the world. But we have to play him, otherwise we regularly give the ball up in bad places right in front of 3 older CBs (or 2 at least, KK can still recover).

That Twitter clip should be enough. If you can’t get a Halaand or a Nunez, get a world class player hat can unlock a defense and put Sterling 1v1 with a goalie.

 That's really low from Barcelona. Are they going to sue themselves for executing unlawful contracts?
Unbelievable. The guy agreed to deferred his wages to help his dream club. This is how he gets treated. Coming to United or not, he needs to stand his ground. Fecking Barcelona, from the team which refused to accept a shirt sponsor to this. What a fecking disgrace.

Frenkie agrees previous contract excessive, willing to take pay cut to stay. @sport

Any day now.

I don't disagree, but I am not your manager

Monumental failure is written in Latin fine print under their logo.

I’m going to use up all my posts super quick with this insanity.

Some very positive lines in the Mitten piece today

I think it would be bigger news if we weren't all tired of it

To paraphrase - United will ramp up efforts to get the deal done, they wouldn't be doing the deal if they weren't encouraged to do it, Barca won't start him next week, United's interest is not wavering.
Can you please provide link ?

All this noise (some call it news) is indication that this saga is very close to it's end.

It's close to the end anyway, Barca have a deadline to register their new signings, and they need to clear over £100m by the sounds of it.

I don't use this word often because of it's undertones, but man De Jong looks like a **** for wanting to stay at that club after this latest attempt to move him.
Someday someone will make a movie out of this transfer deal -- any longer, this could be a Netflix TV series. Its unbelievable how complicated it is!!!!

Well I think that's the craziest thing I've heard a football club has done. Let's sure over the contract we created ourselves? Genius!

This is some baptism of fire for Murtough. Any transfers going forward will seem like a cakewalk after this. Murtough will be adding some pretty generous buffer in his timelines now.

Matt Judge is probably thanking his lucky stars he wasn't involved this. No credit left in the bank, I bet a few knobheads would have burnt his front gates too.

If this is true, and they sued their own player and used media harassment to force him out of what is essentially a normal contract plus his own past wages paid back to him …. Monstrous.

You would have to be indoctrinated like a cult to play for them.

No sane professional athlete would touch them again. Professional agents have feduciary responsibility. There are contexts where De Jongs agent would be subject to scrutiny if they allowed this to happen.

It’s all very weird.

I’m genuinely terrified of the thought of us signing Rabiot instead of Frenkie. Please ban me if it happens

Anyone seeing this turning into DiMaria situation in the unlikely event he does come here?
No. Di Maria issue was according to him with the way LVG treated him. So unless LVG and ETH are the same person I don't see the reason to expect the same outcome, that's also ignoring that De Jong isn't Di Maria.

I cant see any scenario where Barca can take action against fdJ. He simply gets told what he will earn, what his bonuses are and clauses, and signs, if he agrees. All the intricacies are down to lawyers, agent and board, they're the ones who'd be fecked if there is some illegal part to it. surely?

He'll just refuse to go back to his old deal.

Barcelona are truly scum. To even do this to their own players is so low even though they were the one who made the contract. They could solve this problem without selling Frenkie if they don’t sign new players and give their players new contract. Selfish club.

Yup. The whole deferred wages thing feels like a misinterpretation.
The guy just likes living by the Med. and felt he could change his circumstances.
The United move from a career perspective makes a lot of sense, it shouldn’t take a month playing chicken to make it happen.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Oh it’s absolutely reckless, but the most recklessness has already happened. If it means they have to pull one more lever to register the massive investment they’ve made this summer, they will absolutely do it without any hesitation.

They will take it right to the deadline to see how much they can recoup from transfer fees before then. But even if worst case scenario, FDJ stays on his current bloated wage they’ll still get them registered using another lever.

By pulling another lever they’ll increase their short term “revenue” figures which will increase their salary cap which is linked to revenues versus salaries.

I hate to say, trust me, but trust me they’ll get them all registered. It’s the one thing that is most certain in this whole mess. We are dealing with the biggest hoodwinkers in football.
We need to set a deadline (say Friday) then walk away. Damages everything about the club and future negotiations

I think "FDJ saga" will have a lot of people banned here.
To be serious - we are almost at the finish line. Sometimes I want to temporarily hide, stop reading news (and this forum too). Just too stressful.

Its takes a month playing chicken when your club threaten you with legal action and refuse to pay up 17m they owe you…

Barcelona are a shambles financially. They play in a league that doesn't make anything like the money the PL does. You may wish our club spent beyond our means and gambled the future of the club on the prospect of short term gain but don't try and claim anyone that doesn't is arrogant. There is absolutely every reason to be appalled/amused at barca at the moment. They may not even be able to register players they've signed. I think you just want United to sign players, which i get, we all do. I just wouldn't want it to be to the detriment of the club a la barca.
Short term gain? Barcelona smashed us since 2008. Ripped us the shreds every time we played them in recent history.

They will continue doing this and you will continue crowing about money while we win zero titles. Complaining about value in the market because that is how you have been programmed now by this club.

Barcelona have a higher profile than our club because they are basically always better than us season in season out. Barcelona will be around in 20 years and yes they will have won more than United in that time. Period.

They will happily sell their club to a billionaire if it goes to pot anyways or a country. Who wouldn’t want to buy Barcelona? They’d have a queue round the block like it or not of high profile people.

All they have to do is sort their wage budget out anyways and they are fine because they are Barcelona.
