I was somehow under the impression he was trouble (media). Then again we need characters in the squad. Remember a certain player who played with his collar up and came with a reputation?
Perhaps we should go for Mario Balotelli for our striker?

Liverpool in those Klopp early years were a lot more direct and very workman like in midfield.

EtH system requires the midfielders to get on the ball and effect the game
When they won the league;

Wijnaldum
Henderson
Oxlade
Fabinho
Milner

The year before the won the CL with same players minus Fabinho.

Basically until Thiago came last season, their midfield has always been about function rather than guile.

Seems that way… like are the club purposely trying to wind up the fans even more…
They are doing a heck of a job to be honest!

But FDJ is not a CDM either…it seems we are just looking for someone press resistant who doesn’t play through balls to their strikers with their first touch.

In that case we need a whole new team.
Wich we knew since last season but it seems like its just dawning on the board now.

Which is actually the issue. Rabiot is a DM, he has always been and that's where he has played well and shown potential. Now it is known that he didn't want to be a DM, there is even an interview of Thiago Motta who explained that he needed some convincing.which was a shame because it was his best role.
Which is a damn shame and a big problem for a player to be stuck in his own head without realizing what's been best for him

Guess the question really is. Does he still think hes not a DM?

It would be the first and potentially last question that I ask him. If he is still stuck with that idea, let him play for a midtable Ligue 1 club.

Only worked because TAA and Robertson who play almost as midfielders.

Whatever enthusiasm I was still able to muster for this season after Sunday has been utterly killed off by the news we're chasing Rabiot and Arnautovic. WTAF.

This deal reminds me of Donny last year. Barely a rumour and then all of a sudden he was signed.

I wasn’t happy when I saw the rumours this morning but provided we do sign a proper DLP alongside as that’s clearly not his best role, then I’m not totally against it.

Looking at the stats I wish we would just go out and get Bennacer from Milan (I believe he has a release clause?). He seems tenacious, tidy and creative. Would be a good combo with Rabiot’s height and physicality, and both at an age to hit the ground running.

Then there’s just the issue of trimming the team, with which I think we should let Garner go back to Forest and try his hand in the prem.

That is a good point. ETH system will need one WC player like FDJ but I’d still argue the other two can be workmanlike

Not with United's full back. As I said, it worked for Liverpool because TAA plays as an extra midfielder with an amazing passing range. Who's going to play that part, Dalot? Having only 1 player with real quality on the ball is a big mistake, he's far too easy to cut from the plays and then you're left with nothing. Benzema said the exact same thing about PSG regarding Verratti.

What did they say on the podcast about him?
A lot of the stories about his misdemeanours are not correct. He is talented and would be an upgrade on our present midfield. He is not necessarily FDJ's alternative.

Yeah I was critical of him in the past when we were linked and he was leaving PSG, because of his character at the time. It does seem he's naturally matured by the sounds of it and he shouldn't be judged by his actions as a youngster.

I'm just trying to see if he's still the same player as he was at PSG. He was super highly rated back then. I went back to watch PSG videos of him and was blown away. He was FDJ on steroids.

Noticed that about City with the FB sometimes going into CM spots. Not really noticed it with Liverpool. I suppose Rabiot and VDB are better on the ball than Milner/Henderson. So that might help, also we don’t know how Malacia will be.

I'd happily take rabiot and milenkovic-savic as telegraph are reporting. Thats an instant upgrade to our midfield.
