Fair enough - not sure what you mean by that. If we don't need a dynamic, strong, technical, good passer who can control the center of the park then I guess you're right.
He's a high-risk high-reward player who doesn't control the center of the park. He's a similar type of player to Bruno, albeit with better physicality, more attacking midfielder than the conductor type like Frenkie that we need or the upgrade on Fred, an aggressive possession-winning type of midfielder.

He is nothing special. Tadic is a miles better player but we refused to take a risk on him when it was a good time for that - 4 years ago.

Milinkovic-Savic would be a decent squad player in premier league for a top4 team and that is it. Would be great for Leeds.

He's a good player, but not the type of midfielder we need. As others in this thread have already pointed out.
He is a midfielder who is better than McTominay in all respects - and as such would immediately improve us via taking McTominay’s place on the pitch.

It wouldn’t mean we don’t also need to upgrade on Fred, though…

Sorry mate - completely disagree. Bruno is a 10. SMS used to play in that role but has played much deeper in recent seasons. Plays much more as a CM and takes fewer risks. He would be a replacement for Fred imo, but hey, what do we know? I'm sure if he is actually a target, ETH knows exactly how to use him. Whatever the reality is, he can play that CM role and at this stage we just need some feckin quality there.

It doesn't make sense spending a significant amount of money trying to shoe-horn him into a role that isn't his best. It would be Pogba all over again.

Bruno can also play deeper that doesn't change the type of player he is. Milinković-Savić has the worst pass completion rate out of Lazio's 3 main midfielders, he gets dispossessed more often as Luis Alberto and Cataldi combined and he almost has twice as many miscontrols as both of his midfield partners combined. All of that because it's his role to take more risks, since he's one of their creators. We already have Bruno, Eriksen and van de Beek. Even if you think that we need an upgrade on Bruno, which I think is a fair take, it would be an utter waste this summer.

I can still see him do well for us in that CM role. I definitely wouldn't be looking to replace Bruno. Think I'm one of the few that still thinks Bruno is probably our best player. He's been out of form for a while, but he's still a quality player.

I agree regarding Bruno.

Tadic? You mean the winger who went from Southampton to Ajax?
Yep, that guy. Savic ? You mean the guy who is playing for Lazio that won nothing since Erickson was their coach. And what do you mean a winger? The guy literary wears number 10. He is attacking midfielder who is in my eyes way better than Bruno. Have you seen his performance against Real Madrid in Madrid from 2019? Anyhow, this is not about Tadic nor Bruno. It is about Milinkovic-Savic and my opinion of him is that he would be at best slight upgrade to McFred. What we need is someone with real potential, not a guy who played for unimpressive Lazio for past 7 years.

I feel some people are so sad that Frenkie isn’t coming they are just being negative on every other midfielder linked for the sake of it. A midfield of SMS and Rabiot is many levels better than what we’ve got at present!

I've never been convinced by him. He's technically a very good player but i'm not sure he suits a fast paced league like the EPL. I think the likes of Nunes (SCP) and Bennacer would potentially be a much better fit for us imo.

I’d rather us sign this guy and guido Rodriguez then rabiot. Would allow us to play 4-3-3 much better. We’d then have an all rounded midfielder and an actual DM.

i've no idea mate. But one would think we can lure Nunes from SCP with a good offer to SCP.
Sportingcp96 doesn't seem to think so.

Absolutely good enough. Sporting seems adamant on not selling him this transfer window but I have no doubt he will leave next summer. However reports in Portugal say that if City sell Bernardo and offer the 60M talked about that Sporting will allow Nunes to leave.
Earlier in the window Wolves offered Sporting 45M + Objectives for Nunes which Sporting were considering accepting if Matheus Nunes wanted the move. However Matheus Nunes declined moving to Wolves because if he leaves Sporting he prefers to go to a bigger club.
Pep's been in his ear already.

City is the most consistent rumor here in Portugal as well as the most likely scenario in my view. If Nunes has another great season and really shows out I don't see how City don't move for him given Pep's public admiration in his quality.

I bet that's the one that won't happen.m while Rabiot and Arnautovic will. Would piss me off I'd actually be ok with SMS,

Not sure why we are after this guy and Rabiot. Rabiot only makes sense with a DLP or a creative energetic box to box

SMS seems to be a better fit with an actual DM than Rabiot and with that we could recreates Ten Hags previous Ajax system with that

Eriksen
SMS Guido

Berghuis
Gravenbach Alvarez

Him, Gaitan and Sneijder will seriously give our midfield option a huge boost. Looking forward for see them at Old Trafford soon...

I'd love to know the clubs view on players like this and whether they even consider them. Caqueret is another (my no.1 choice). Caicedo's performances can't have gone unnoticed either.

Again, just feels like this isn't going to happen.
Agreed, I just dont see us signing more than 1 midfielder this summer. If we wanted to, we would have done along time ago.

Every window, we are linked with midfielders, every window we dont sign one. I dont see anything changing this time around.

One out of Caqueret, Bennacer or Nunes is a must if we can't sign de Jong imo.

Inclined to agree. He’s quite clearly got a bit about him, but I think he’s just too big and immobile to be truly great.
