His best role would be the one Mctominay occupy, he is more composed on the ball but isn't as mobile, he'll get in the box and get goals and generally a big unit but he's lack of mobility could be an issue in a pressing system.
He doesn't dictate play either, a cross between Yaya Toure and Fellaini.

Now we just need a short midfielder who's a cross between Xavi and Lee Cattermole and we're set.

Shame the scouse got already got Thiago, come to think of it.

I feel like this guy has been around forever. I wonder why no club especially the big Italian ones have gone in for him?

It’s not like Lazio is a particularly big club so I imagine he Woolf not be that difficult to get.
Juve fans have been drooling over this guy for 4+ years now. It's the stubborness of Lazio's president that kept suitors at bay, he'd just put up a 100m sign every time someone came knocking. Player himself seems rather comfortable in Rome so it made their job easier as well. Situation kinda reminds me of Koulibaly at Napoli. Keeping the player a few extra years and hoping it somehow translates into a bit of silverware, only to cash in later at a cheaper price (I think nowadays he'd be available for 70+). Checking out Lazio forums, they absoultely revere the guy.

I like his profile. Some similarities with Pogba, being tall and technical, but more of a physical presence and certainly possesses better mentality (not that Pogba set a high bar here). He'd obviously be a much much more ambitious signing than Rabiot.

He’s an astronomical upgrade on our midfielders.
Yea I dont get why people are so against this signing. Admittedly I've only watched videos of this guy but he looks a good box to box midfielder who can play passes through the lines/through balls and has good technical ability which is a lot more that can be said for McT.

Doesn't look a bad player at all and has the same physicality/frame as McT whilst being a far better player. Do people prefer to continue watching McT bumbling about instead? :wenger:

One would think if you really watched him play at all by reading your posts.

We just don't want a scenario were we would be looking to upgrade not so long after making a big signing.

You think he's not good enough for a Champions League team which is where we are currently trying to get to? And he won't be a huge upgrade on McT?

You compared him to Fellaini though, such a lazy big player good in the air comparison

He's much more comparable to someone like Yaya Toure.
And I compared him to Toure as well, and yes he share qualities with Fellaini, its not uncommon for Lazio to go long to him in the opposition box, even in his national team as well.

If the price is £50m we would be stupid not to sign him. Not that far off from what we paid for Fred and looks like he will be a huge upgrade on our current midfielders.

Honestly I don’t understand some of the posters on here!

People moan and moan about a lack of quality in the midfield and a failure to even replace the midfielders we’ve lost.

Then we end up being firmly linked to SMS who is a quality all rounder CM miles better than what we’ve got.

And people still moan?! Utterly inexplicable.

It genuinely feels like it’s more on the basis of ‘oh this has been talked about for years and hasn’t happened’ than anything to do with the player himself.

I genuinely rate him so highly he’s a great allrounder at the prime of his career. If he’s available we should be going all out to make it happen.

He's an upgrade on Mctominay, Doucoure is an upgrade on Mctominay.....this guy is more Tottenham than Liverpool, City level.

Weird that a pretty sizeable amount of Serie A fans on Reddit think he’s incredible.
Because he is. Easily one of the best midfielders in the league. The only reason he hasn't moved to a bigger team in the Serie A or basically any big club in the top 5 leagues, is because Lazio has always asked an "unreasonable" amount of money and he never really had the desire to leave. Would walk into any midfield except maybe City's.

I don't get why you are trying so hard to slate him.

Not sure what you are on about honestly. We are nowhere near the level of Tottenham right now in terms of our squad let alone City and Liverpool.

He is Pogba level mobility, he's a really big guy who doesn't run around the way more nimble players would.
Pogba was more mobile than him before all the injuries and fitness problems.

He’s a massive improvement on what we currently have. Watched him play in Dublin for Serbia earlier this year and he looked classy.

The post I responded to explain would clarify my reason.
