Yes, that's a fair description of his career so far. I think his technical ability would indicate he would work in a possession-based system though.
On paper he does give the impression that he has enough technique to play in a possession team but the most important aspect is the mentality and if he is able to adopt possession game principles, that's not a given.

Also, if the rumour are true the goal may not be to play a strong possession style, it's not as if ETH was Guardiola.

On an individual level everything I've heard about Milinkovic-Savic suggests he is excellent. Juve fans were very excited when they were linked to him at the start of the summer.

On a collective level however I am not sure if he fixes enough problems. He is a massive improvement on McTominay however I don't see how he will shield the defense. If we sign him we will still require someone to offer Maguire and co protection.

Isn't that guy supposed to be Rabiot or that other guy Guido?

I really like the guy but his best position is previously that of Pogba's and now Bruno’s. Basically the most attacking and free of responsibility CM that makes his presence felt in the final 3rd a lot more. He makes surging runs and dribbles more successfully as opposed to Bruno's style of threading quick balls to the forwards. He's nonetheless still a risk taker.

I'm not opposed to signing him, but we still need a #6 dammit. Someone who can receive the ball from deep, be press resistant, be positionally aware and provide some shielding to the defence. We haven't had one since Matic went to shit 3 years ago before leaving. We have plenty of players who can play #8 (Eriksen, VDB, Fred, McTominay) or #10 (Bruno, Eriksen, VDB). Even if you argue SMS is a huge improvement on Fred, McTominay & VDB, which yeah he is, he's not a huge improvement on Bruno & Eriksen (imo) and thus he adds quality depth but not hugely improve the best XI. We still have no DM however.

Why are you comparing him to Tadic
Cause I watched them play in national team. One is useful and other isn't so much. Haha. Yeah, they don't play the same position and are different players so perhaps my comparation doesn't make sense. They are both Serbians so I know their game very well so my goal was just to lower the excitement as this guy in my humble opinion is not worth being excited about. If we sign him and he turns out to be awesome, I will be very happy to be wrong.

I think that's the point of Rabiot

Would gladly have this lad along with a proper DM, it would be a massive upgrade to McFred

Would give us a very technically skilled base in midfield

Most importantly he is a leader and top professional. Gets on with his football and is consistent as feck.

We need characters in this team. Not shrinking violets who hide like Fred and Mctominay etc.

Always have been a fan but the reason he hasn’t left lazio all these years is due to his loyalty to the club. Hopefully he will pick us.

I am going out on a limb here I think he would be a better signing than FDJ. Here I said it.

Completely agree. Plays with confidence and leads the way. We actually have no captain material in our squad and a club like ours needs a team at with 4-5 people being vocal and also walking their talk. What we have is a bunch of whiners who rather give their colleagues a bollocking but do nothing special themselves ...

the dream would be to pair them as SMS plays a box to box role. Frankie likes to play from deep

id fecking wank myself silly if that happened. We may never have to see mcfred again.

Who the feck are we kidding though. This club won’t spend the money to do so. fecking shambles.

One out of Caqueret, Bennacer or Nunes is a must if we can't sign de Jong imo.
I think Caqueret just signed a new contract in May, so might not be possible. We should definitely go for Bennacer if we can't get Frenkie.

This guy is an enigma - like the summer solstice he appears every summer and then disappears until the next window.

I agree the news that Arnautovic and Rabiot were next in line just took the Cake

For 68m euros, he would be a bargain.
He is the ultimate box to box midfielder in my view and with his height, he will be a threat on corners.

Eriksen -Milinkovic-Savic would be a good duo.

How much do you think he's worth?
He looks like an attack minded CM rather than one who can help us control games or shield the defence so I wouldn't go for him in the first place. Seems like a signing for signing sake.

I struggle to believe anything when it comes to SMS, as we've been linked forever. But I think if we don't get Frenkie, then we'll move for him.
