How do you know we're interested? Or have agreed a fee? Same rule applies.
The biggest thing we have to support that is that the BBC reported that we'd agreed a fee, and they don't report unless it's certain from what i gather. Yes the same rule applies, and as i said yesterday, thats why i don't usually believe much of whats tweeted because it's all speculation for the most part

Until we officially say anything about our offer etc then there must be some indication that all is not lost.

Frenkie’s agent manages about 4 of our players and was Malacia’s agent. There must be open dialogue and certainly if there was a definite no-way then we would know.

I don’t buy into all this hysteria that we are just flapping around in the dark waiting without any idea what the player wants.

That's not to say though that if another better offer comes to the table that wouldn’t change things.
This is Manchester United, the most incompetent club in the Premier League. I would say it's very fitting.

Probably didn't want to waste time negotiating a fee, writing up bid documents until they knew. The fact they're at least doing that now suggests he's on the move.
I’ve been in the not going to happen camp for a while so this isn’t blind hope but it was reported by all the Chelsea ITKs that they wouldn’t approach Barca until they got an ok from the player. The fact the ok from the player isn’t plastered everywhere with Utd backing out tells me somethings changed. That was the entire basis of the Chelsea story over the last week.
Imo it looks as if there might be a sea change around De Jong and Utd so they’re trying to get on equal footing instead of letting it get away from them.
Somethings up in my opinion.

Chelsea seem more linked to aubameyang and I feel like Barcelona are then trying to link them to De Jong.

In tough times, muppets need to look to their leader for inspiration.

So What Would Erik Do? (WWED).

I think Erik would demand that we “remain focushed and give MAXSHIMUM EFFORT”.

I’d love if someone who wasn’t a poster on here or didn’t really like football read through this thread to see what their reaction would be. “Mental illness”, I imagine.
When you win a trophy after trophy and indulge in transfers, that could be called "mental illness", but when you've suffered years of shocking performances and McFred, it is more "desperation" than muppetary.

Someone needs to do this to FDJ or his fiancee ASAP.
Who knows? This could be the second coming of Cantona.

Forget all the other hopeless threads about players who we thought would sign for United such as Sneijder, Robben, Kroos, Hazard etc. This Frenkie de Jong saga is for me the worst of the worst, a true muppet nightmare. It's currently almost 1500 pages of frustration, despair and misery.

It's all from Ben Jacobs i'd imagine, but no one really knows how reliable he is. Some say he is, most say he's not amazingly so. I have no idea. I'm not doubting that Chelsea are in for him, but saying that Boehly has been on the phone to him often... how exactly would they know? Have they tapped phone lines and the sorts? I think a lot of that is just speculation and opinion to build a narrative. Bit like EtH always on the phone to him... i don't think he has been you know. How would anyone know? It's not like EtH is going to openly admit it!
Relevo have also talked about Boehly calling FDJ personally but it also mentioned he said no and Chelsea will keep trying anyway
As others have said no smoke without fire and the owner wouldn`t personally call the player if Chelsea weren`t REALLY interested
We have to accept the fact that there`s a serious competitor for FDJ that unfortunately have CL football
We may still get him(I personally lost confidence yesterday) but it`s 2/3 times harder now than a few weeks ago

Losing De Jong to Chelsea will be like losing a 6-pointer head to head. I am not looking forward to that possibly happening.

I tried this but Mikky wouldn't let me anywhere near him

So literally nothing has changed. After having bids accepted, the decision remains with the player. Shocking developments
That's what Chelsea's ITK's have been saying for the past 48 hours. As I said yesterday, De Jong may pick Chelsea but if we believe Chelsea's own ITK's even Chelsea don't know it, they just did what United did and agree with Barcelona. Maybe United fans should fly a plane over his house declaring our love and admiration?

I really want him to move just so we can get a blockbuster first interview, whether he goes to Chelsea or United.

Just watch the 8-2 destruction of Barca by Bayern over and over again. It'll make you feel better and convince you he's total garbage.

This has dragged on so much I am barely excited about the prospect of him playing for us, I just want us to sign him so that Gerard Romero and Managing Barca look like mugs.
I'm at the point where I'm more interested in him not signing for rivals than caring about him signing for us.

I was thinking that just then. If Chelseas bid is now going in, even though there has been no green light so to speak, has something changed in the de Jong to United situation that has forced Chelsea to act now to try and salvage the situation? The Chelsea reporters are still going to stick to their narrative that he wants Chelsea regardless. They're not going to change their minds now are they?

IF and it's a big IF Chelsea have indeed submitted their bid without any news of a green light being given, something has changed elsewhere

It's funny how much is hinging on this transfer from a fan perspective. If he goes Chelsea, the meltdown will be epic, but if he comes, I give it a couple of weeks before he gets called a waste of money.

Couple of weeks? How positive. There will be people calling it a waste of money the moment the details of the transfer are reported.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Timeline A - Frenkie comes, we beat Brentford and Liverpool, much joy is had by all and the bald messiah is born.

Timeline B - Frenkie goes to Chelsea, we lose to Brentford and Liverpool, the stadium is burned down and the Pep Guardiola is my idol is sacked by Christmas.

It’s a real sliding doors moment…

With all the whining in the Rabiot-thread about his wages... Are you comfortable that De Jong most likely won't accept less than he has at Barca today?

I think for the sheer length of this saga, if we get him, a wave of positivity will come for a good week and it will be a simpler time again.

I can't see him going anywhere but Utd to be honest. The only other club I could see him going is Bayern butt they haven't been linked.

Chelsea doesn't make much sense for me. Yes they are a good club and have CL. They don't need him though and they have other CM's already:

Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Gallagher & Loftus cheek,

Surely if they spend big on another player it has to be a striker?
