Won't be a knock down fee because of the +1, quite clearly they are trying their hand at briefing to the media to try and force our hand for more money/years knowing they can ride the current sentiment/situation and use it to their advantage.

Call their bluff, I hope Rashford gets dropped for this personally and I hope he is gone by September. What a dick move.

In the current market and with his form, what would realistically Utd get for him? Considering how bad we are at dealing on sales, I'd be surprised if we got more than £40m but if it was Liv/Chel/Shitty they'd be getting around £65-70m.
You're deluded. If Sterling goes for £50m in EPL, Rashford would be worth £32m. Outside of EPL, probably £25M max

25m barely gets you a championship winger nowadays, having a right laugh if your think the club would sell him for 32.

Raphinha went for almost double that to a club outside of England after 2 years with a bottom table club

Why are you writing off? The team that started last season was the team that finished 2nd the season before, and then added Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo, therefore it was an even better team. And when he failed in that team he was given a second chance and failed worse, finished the season on the bench. When other clubs replace their manager midseason, you know, like Tottenham, that doesn't seem to give their players free reign to down tools the remainder of the season, in fact it's usually a kick in the ass. I just want to know why that has to be written off? And no vague hyperbole, specifically.
Because I think last season was an impossible situation. It was a toxic situation. The squad was horribly coached, horribly balanced, it spiralled, and just as Ralf started improving things and Rashford looked like he was about to get a glimpse of form back, Greenwood gets arrested and we are thrown back into turmoil. That does shit to a squad mentality. Ralf also had an interim title, which is very hard to fully invest in. Half the squad was leaving. They didn't give a feck, hard for the rest who are staying to perform normally. Once we lost to Atletico, the season was done for all. Rashford had a tough summer the year before, put off a surgery for playing in the euros, didn't end up playing at all apart from the penalty miss. He was mentally fecked after that too. And then had surgery to fix his injury. There were COUNTLESS reasons why last season went to shit. Yes, the players are also to blame. Yes, their mentality was shit. Yes the work rate was shit. Yes they gave up. But it's a 1 off season where everything snowballed and went wrong.

If you act based on last season, you have to sell literally everyone and buy an entire new squad. Because what you can say for Rashford applies to everyone. We have some very good players and some shit ones. I'd prioritize keeping those who have shown they can be among our best players. Especially if we have no cover for them. They get another chance based on situation, and because you can't sell them all off, and because of the hope they can get back to a form they showed before last season.

I’d be a lot more comfortable letting him go if I trusted the manager and board to replace him with someone better.
We’re struggling to get hold of one average one, let alone one to two top forwards.

Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
For the past ten years it feels like every time a player wants a better deal there is a curiously timed story of interest from another club, ultimately leading to us paying through the nose. Is this just me?

Are we this stupid to keep falling for the same move?

Is Icardi any good still?
Get 40m and Icardi. If Ronaldo is still here later then he can play on the left and share time with Garnacho.
Sorted.

Raphinha wasn’t sitting on north of 200k a week, though. A Raphinha transfer fee + Rashford’s wage puts a total package at a ridiculous number, even for a club like PSG

There's loads of players I'd gapping replace Rashford with, but we need to sign a couple attackers first  :nervous:

I know it gets slated around here because it always seems to backfire, but I can see why Woodward felt justified in extending contracts to lock in value.

No chance are they in for him. Who does he replace in their attacking lineup ? Mbappe ? Not a chance. Marcus wants a new contract and this is just a typical ploy.

Why would it matter what Raphina’s wage was at Leeds? That’s not what Barca are paying him.

Sell him while they can still get something for him, and then use the funds to buy Anthony.
Pity that Murtog and Arnold are too stupid to see the most obvious move.

Yes and yes.

It shocks me that the board would still fall for this? Do they take stupid pills all day or what?
The guy hasn't performed for a while, and pulls this stunt to get more money from us for mediocre performances, and we fall for that? It's crazy the level of dumbness.

Am hoping this time some common sense prevails from somewhere. Players need to be rewarded for actually performing. How hard can that be to implement?

Doubt we'd get that gold a few to be honest, and likely not enough to be an improved replacement. Even though I would be fine with him leaving, it's just contract posturing.

I never said they were? But a players current salary is generally indicative of what sort of salary they’ll receive at their new club. Reports say Raphinha was on 60k at Leeds and they also say he’s on 100k at Barcelona. That’s a relatively modest salary for a big club and is a big part of why Barcelona were willing to pay the large transfer fee.

The buyer becomes a bit less willing to pay a 60m transfer fee if the player is on 200k+ a week, unless they really want him. That’s the point I was trying to make.

You mean the value of the club and it’s assets. That’s different from sale value here, these contracts made them unsellable but kept the club valuable.

Meh. Guy is hardly a footballer these days, never mind a forward of any kind of use to us. Get rid. Even if we fail to get a replacement I'd rather see Garnacho and other kids get the chance than waste more time on this dude.
Nah he needs to stay and also continue to go against the government to help look after under privileged kids because that, weirdly, fecking annoys people.

Antony can properly play on the right unlike Rashford, but that's about it. I've seen him play a lot and I like him, but he's not an upgrade on Rashford in terms of potential or talent. Fee Ajax are asking for him is absolutely bonkers, so I don't understand why people suggest him as a replacement. It would just be another bad or sideways move in terms of the overal quality he would add to the squad.

We need a truly unique specimen in the Rooney/Ronaldo calibre range to replace Rashford if we want to actually improve as a club. Problem being that by the time a talent like that actually comes on the market, we might be in such a shite state as a club we can't even sign them up.

He'll leave on a free. His contracts up
I'm talking about this summer, though I wouldn't put it past these clowns who handle contracts to convince him to stay till next summer, only then for him to leave on a free.

You putting Rashford on the same level as McTominay renders you unworthy to debate.
Their contributions to the team are comparable over the last 18months and Rashford can command a decent fee that can be reinvested to the team. I don’t see why you feel surprised by the reactions on here

Completely agree

He's been shit for 2 years now
He's on £240,000 per week
Nobody in their right mind will pay him that
He's doesnt realise he is on a downward trajectory and is going to be at a club like Villa or Everton in 3 seasons time

Neymar is playing in his position too if I am not mistaken

Everything points to this being drummed up by his people to panic us into a new contact on stupid wages

Some deluded Spurs fans thought the same about Alli.

He is busted flush. Cash in while he's still worth some millions.
You may well be right although its not beyond the realms of possibility that'll he'll return, time will tell.
