The same spurs that finished 19 points ahead of us last season? With a proven PL winning manager? And who have been in a CL final relatively recently?
Were you one of those who shit themselves when they appointed Mourinho

Just been doing my research and watching some clips of him. He’s huge and physical and looks pretty skilful with it.. what is it people don’t like about him? Is it more a attitude thing or his mum? We don’t know anything yet.. he is only 27 so might reach his peak with us and be fairly decent. Looks much better technically than what we have.. the guy might want to prove himself somewhere.

also left footed…kind of makes sense as he’s got a left footed cb who can play out from the back with rabiot in midfield who is skilful and physical.. it could work and link up well. For 17mil euros it’s worth a punt.
Propbably because a lot of people think we have lost out on FDJ so this is the next alternative i.e. Harrods tastes with Lidl budget !! God forbid we actually get Rabiot and A N Other (FDJ or some other GOOD midfielder)

It suits some clubs to put a narrative out that certain players are problematic etc. Yet we get some Juve fans saying he is no trouble, available for most games and his decent stats about him. If it means no more Fred then i'm ready...........

He’s a slightly better version of Pereria, the guy we just sold to Fulham because he wasn’t the right player to dislodge McFred.

Wait this deal was supposed to be done?!? Im now reading Rabiot wants champions league football. Are we really rejected by Rabiot out of all people?

Meanwhile fans are drooling over benchwarmer FDJ who wants no part of United and is probably going to join Chelsea. Im just lost for words.

I don't know what we have become..
Sign players on the last day of transfer in desperation....
That would mean give up on 3-4 games each season..and by the time the player is ready, it's October
And we are fighting for 4th or Europa..

This deal will definitely happen. I'm very interested to know the length and wage.

One's a world class midfielder and the other one, no one wants at age 27. These players aren't even in the same league.

I don’t know how some of these guys are even pundits. I know there’s mixed views about him but how the feck have you not heard of him before when you are a football pundit? He’s only played for 2 of the biggest clubs in Europe and made numerous appearances for France!

Macari is a clown. Basically saying if no big clubs are in for him then why are we. Has he not noticed our failure in attracting top targets yet and the fact we're desperate.

Some of the pundits clearly watch less football than the average RedCafe poster and are in a job purely because of the achievements in the past. They know absolutely nothing outside the team they follow.

I have no idea either, yet.

That's harsh, I'm not sure the average RedCafe poster watches football at all.

You would think the bare minimum as a pundit would be to look up our targets on YouTube before you talk about them

It's an embarrassing admission from him to be honest. If playing for PSG and Juve aint enough then whatever he says about other players is just rubbish

Curious that he's been a regular starter for PSG, Juventus and France, yet there's so much negativity around him

I'm no different mind. But I didn't think it would be so universal.

Well, if we spent so much time chasing a midfielder and end up with Rabiot, it has been a shit summer once more

He’s made himself look a bit of a fool by saying he’s never heard of him. He should have just said no one else is in for him which is what he’s concerned about.

I think a lot of it is Twitter doing the rounds with stats of his from last season looking worse on paper than Mctominay. But it’s not the best gauge as his stats from previous seasons have been considerably better than anything Mctominay offers.

Im actually happy at the signing as he’s someone with presence and the ability to join the midfield and attack better than our current options.

My only concern is he isn’t as dynamic and energetic as Fred so we would still need to play Fred alongside him.

I rather play Iqbal than Rabiot. No doubt
In the current climate and transition we are in, I wouldn’t. It could potentially destroy the youngster mentally and morale wise coming into an unstable set up right now. He looks one for the future but not someone we can rely on every week to start in central midfield. You rarely see very young players younger than 18-19 playing regularly in central midfield for any top club. It’s rare for a reason and normally only when they are really unique. I’m all for giving him game time, but he can’t be our number one option.

If you watched it that wasn't the worst thing, he felt the fact he hadn't scored last summer made him ridiculous? I genuinely wonder how these guys talk on football when I expect some children to offer more relevant analysis

Not getting all the negative stuff about Rabiot. Have seen him play live a few times. He’s not going to make the highlights reels but he is good at covering space, reading the play and preventing opposition midfield from building attacks. On the ball, he is what Eric would have called a “water carrier”.

He will improve us because he makes us more difficult to play against. At the moment it’s such a breeze for our opponents

Good post. United are desperate for structure, a midfielder who can adequately do the fundamentals, carry the ball, make himself available and cover space will mean our defence and attack will automatically look better. I haven't seen a lot of him but I'm well aware he is levels above McTominay. I can't believe some people are putting them on the same pedestal. Football is more than stats circulating on twitter without any context, eyes are important.

If we are going to sign Rabiot, then it's annoying that since it first emerged on Monday as news that the deal was close, and Juventus are very willing, that we haven't managed to get him in time for this weekend. But typical of the running of this club I suppose.

The same ditch seems to be a more appropriate description. :D
