Maybe it's time to just pull the trigger on Neves & Tielemans - both could be attained for a combined cost of around the £60m mark and would literally take our midfield up a few tiers overnight.
Yeah think you are right, know they aren't elite but at least proven in this league. You know the one which didn't help when we most needed it.

Arkadiusz Milik offered to several European clubs.
Among the clubs surveyed there would be Everton, Manchester United, Juventus

Really?!

No way we’re getting those two for that price. Are you forgetting about United tax?

A combined £60m for them? Where did you get those valuations from?

A schimpanzee have better ability of negotiating than the useless dross we have at the club. They are the type of people who get offered a pair of jeans for 30 quid but end up paying 50. And because of this, with 2 weeks left of the window these morons are still out there contacting clubs 24/7 and making enquiries about 50 different players.

Well to be fair, I was hoping the FDJ deal was gonna happen before now. Infact I was convinced it was gonna happen and our transfer business would have been concluded by now.

If/when FDJ happens it'll be a great addition, but in hindsight, I think we waited far too long before approaching other targets.

The FDJ deal is a special situation (deferred wages) but I'd have liked more players in by now.

I was just highlighting how us NOT signing anyone these past two weeks was a sign of the club being incompetent, but also if the club were to make panic signings the club is also incompetent.

I'd be alarmed if EtH doesn't get the signings he requires over the line before the close of the window. The next 2-3 weeks is going to be interesting and we're going to have a very busy deadline day yet again I suspect.
Going two games into the season with glaring holes in the team, a team that's arguably weaker than the one responsible for last season's shitshow, is what's incompetent. Whatever happens in the last couple of weeks of the window is just a byproduct of that incompetence, whether it's signing warm bodies to fill out the squad or not signing anyone.

Tielemans is in the last year of his contract and the prevailing figure that’s been quoted is in the region of £25m. Neves is also in the last year of his contract and would (I think) be available for the £30-35m mark.

 Mate, you were the one advocating for patience at the back end of June when we hadn't signed anyone yet. Then you carried on throughout July and August with no significant strengthening to the first team. Now you're taking about panic buying. You couldn't make it up. It was painfully obvious this was going to happen.
At this point the only thing that makes sense is that poster is a PR rep for the club.

I can understand not going for Neves but Tielemans can't be too expensive right? Much better than Raboit who's shite and still want mental wages.

Two midfielders a striker a winger and a right back still required

Progress since Brighton: negative 100

Don't get the objection to Rabiot, so what if he becomes deadwood in 2 years... It's what he does between now and then that matters to me.

Right now we are an established Europa League side imo and the likes of Rabiot etc are ideal as they are able to push us toward being a higher tier.. then if in 2 years we flog them on so be it.

I mean if he becomes deadwood in 2 years, it would probably be because he's not had a very effective 2 years with us, doesn't it?

Looking forward to more games with our brilliant midfield then.... Will buy a rope and look for the highest tree there is.

I forgot to comment on this earlier, but it's weird to see Milik become a forgotten man after how good he looked in the past. He's still an okay player but not necessarily one who'll really stick out in a top team.

I like to think he's been ok for the level we're at now but now we need better.

It's the ruthlesness we lack, we tend to hang on to people long after they have served their purpose.

I'm actually so pleased that both proposed deals for Arnautovic and Rabiot got called off. I really want de Jong but if that remains unlikely then Casemiro would be a great signing.

We still lack planning and foresight but while earlier we would go into panic mode and overpay to secure the signings, we have now decided that we will walk away from deals even it means that we are left with a less than mediocre squad. Don’t know how we could be so incompetent.

Casemiro story is nonsense. He's still a good player for them and plays a lot games.
