What do you mean ‘the end of days for Manchester United’?
The Quest to remain a competitive force at the top level stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all Manchester United fans for another decade.

Rumor grew of a shadow approaching them, whispers of a crisis, and the club perceived its time had come. It had abandoned all hope, but then something happened that fate did not intend. It was saved by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a proper midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, of Barcelona.

Sadly, I think Joan Laporta knows exactly what's in Frenkie's pocket

What an absolute load of embarrassing rubbish. Give your head a wobble.
We're currently bottom of the PL with 0 points and already off the pace after two games. Ten Hag's preparation and start to the season has been affected by not having the full squad that he badly needs. You honestly believe this player was worth throwing the start of our season for?

If i was the club, i would also brief and maintain that we are still interested. The fanbase would run riot if we walk away after 3 months without getting him.

From "The Sun" (the strikeout is mine, although if Frenkie had the luxury of choosing between the two clubs the choice is clear):

MANCHESTER UNITED expect to sign Frenkie de Jong with an 'irrefutable' offer, according to reports.

Spanish press claim that there is a belief that the reason the Dutchman is playing hardball with Barcelona is to drive up the offer he will ultimately get from the Red Devils or Chelsea.

Man Utd are also set to battle Chelsea for the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, SunSport can reveal.

The Red Devils considered signing the former Arsenal captain in January and are now ready to launch a bid, following Cristiano Ronaldo's sulky display at Brentford.

It is also claimed that Ronaldo often eats alone during training and has been openly questioning Erik ten Hag's high pressing style.

The Red Devils are also said to be closing in on the signing of Adrien Rabiot, with the club's recruitment said to have agreed terms with his mother and agent.
This is why it's going wrong, I mean how can you eat and train at the same time.
The fecking club is a disgrace!!!We're finished!!

Better to say we walked away than him turning up at Chelsea and giving us the middle finger on the way there

Where is your belief coming from
I always thought the way Barca operate, they are gambling. They will leave it until the last conceivable point to sell if means they can save any sort of money. There's no way they can go into the season on his current wage and his deferred wages and there are no signs of him forgoing any of that

My hope as well.

In today's football were defenders can barely touch a striker without seeing red and were every move is shown again and again its so easy to forget how ridiculously good the old school strikers are. My OMG moment came at Albertini's testimonial game in 2006. But let's give some backstory first. Van Basten's injury has had an enormous impact on him as a person. He can't move his ankle the way he wants to, he needs to be careful when training at the gym and can only play 10 minutes of football. By 2006, Van Basten was 41 years old and had retired from football years before. So we're talking about a guy who had barely played football since he retired and can't even move as a normal person could. For him to go on the pitch and score this wonder goal is amazing

That's one of the many reasons why I say that Sacchi's Milan was the best team the world had ever seen. That team was frigging special and had shown their class and their almost telepathic communication between them long after they retired.
True, to have that magnificent Dutch trio in the same team plus all the other amazing players was sure a sight to behold.

Still in my eyes the most complete striker ever and to think he only got to play till he turned 28, what a shame, certainly one of footballing worlds bigger loses.

To think we might have not even seen his peak makes one sad, seeing how strikers today play till their late 30s and peak at their early 30s sure makes one wonder how he would have been in today's age.

FDJ isn't coming imo. If he does leave, which I don't think he does, he'll probably end up at Chelsea as a part of the Alonso deal.

What a seriously piss poor window. Spend all summer after a pipe dream signing and now panicking for any bloody midfielder.

May aswell just play 5 defenders on the line and hope for the best up top.
