Interesting Bits :
- Although Chelsea will allow Pulisic to leave the club would prefer to sell the American international who has grown increasingly frustrated at his lack of opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

- The 23-year-old winger is the US captain and is anxious to ensure he plays enough before the forthcoming World Cup but is not central to Thomas Tuchel’s plans at Chelsea.

- Real Madrid will not stand in Casemiro’s way should United follow up their interest with a £50 million bid and the midfielder tells them that he wants to go.

- Although there is widespread scepticism as to why Casemiro would want to leave Madrid it is understood he is interested in hearing about United’s offer and not least because his first-team chances might be reduced this season following the arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni for €80 million. The 22-year-old is expected to play.

- Casemiro, who has a contract with Madrid until 2025, has a good relationship with president Florentino Perez and it is thought the club will not block his move if that is what he asks for. Sources suggest that having won it all in Spain for several years the 30-year-old Brazilian might be willing to accept a new challenge especially if he is offered a lucrative enough contract by United.

- United are looking for a versatile wide forward to add to their attacking options but are also operating within a reasonably tight budget having bid up to €85 million for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. Although that bid is unlikely to succeed, with Chelsea also in for De Jong, United do not want to use that cash just yet.

- United are looking to sign at least three new players before the end of the transfer window: a forward and two midfielders.

Firstly, thank you for sharing. Secondly...

Reasonably tight budget?

What the feck?

We've come off of an awful season, we've freed up £50m per year in salaries + saving £20-25m if Ronaldo leaves.

And the budget is fecking tight?

What is wrong with you?

And 2 CMs and a FW?

If Ronaldo leaves, we need 2 FWs.

We also need a RB and a GK.

I thought the same with Varane but then he came. Varane should be starting that’s on ten Hag. It’s quite possible that Casemiro is looking for a new challenge and ££££ after winning everything with Madrid.
True. Though wasn’t Varane already being phased out of the team by that point? Plus his history with injuries. Not sure it’s the same like-for-like situation as with Casemiro, but I can see the angle of wanting a new challenge + big money

If we're looking at spending a mountain of cash on a ball winning midfielder with a high work rate, surely someone under 30 makes more sense? Matic was bought in similar circumstances and he did well for 2 years, but couldn't put in 90 minutes a week after that.

What is the point of having scouts if the majority of players bid on are from top clubs? Obviously there's "no value in the market" when you're exclusively looking at buying established players from Barca and Real. Meanwhile mid table PL clubs have buying gems off bottom half Ligue 1 clubs for a decade.

We are willing to offer €80m to Real and double his salary.

What the absolute feck are we doing?
80 million euros.
It's not ideal but other reports saying it is closer to 60-70m Euros.

Who cares though, I've gone beyond the point of caring and allowances should be made for a player of Casemiro's calibre.

He's a winner. He's the best defensive midfielder in the world.

I'll take him for 80m Euros and £300K per week.

I came around to the idea after this morning. But to use the whole De Jong budget and salary to get him.

We best get another midfielder to partner him the dumb fecks.

Are we really going to spend 70m on a 30 year old and pay him 350k p/w on top? :nervous:

What could possibly go wrong?

67m would be including add ons . Will start around 50-55 and another 10 as add-on.

But almost 6 years older. Wonderful player in a position we have needed for years but I completely understand the scepticism on the price.
Can't say I'm thrilled to be blowing the frenkie budget on him either BUT... he just signed a contract last year, is one of if not THE best DM on the planet right now, and is leaving the la liga and cl champions. I'd say out of all of Woody's marquee signings, he's porbably actually worth it.

Why are people acting like this bloke is over the hill and past it at 30? He isn't. At all.
Agree on this. His display vs Liverpool in the final was deliciously satisfying, while Fabinho looked quite on edge in comparison.

He's the best DM in the world currently so the Schweinsteiger comps are quite off the mark...

Just as a bit of a comparison- Fernandinho played around 200 league games for Man City after the age of 30…

Think We can forget FDJ. Think Rabiot will come back with his tails behind his butt . Rabiot - Casemiro will be our midfield .
Very unlikely I agree. Just repeating that the club seem to have still got money available for him.

Arnold did say there was £200m for transfers from memory.

I’m not too worried about him being 30, but I worry about the motivation. He’s won everything at Madrid, so it feels like it would be motivated by money.

Plus the potential fee is ridiculous and we wouldn’t see any of that money through a future sale. Feels short-sighted to me, but from footballing ability alone he would instantly make us better.
