Think we’d have to sign him by tomorrow  no chance. Think New signings at club a have to be registered for Friday to feature in the following weekends fixtures.
We play on Monday thankfully but it's been reported we want this to be done by Saturday so maybe that's the deadline to get him in for Liveprool

If that's true then he's truely be Ten Hags extended voice on the pitch. A captain and leader - god we've missed that.
Not saying he should be made captain right away, but that'll happen eventually surely.
feck it make him captain on the spot. Who else in our squad would be a guaranteed starter and not be a complete mess? We genuinely don't have anyone worthy for it. Ten Hag kept Maguire as captain because.... There was nobody else to give it to anyway.

Into their mid 30s? What are you talking about? What physical DM improves at 35 vs at 28? This forum man. Whatever. Sancho, Varane, Martinez, just keep adding with no long term plan
Fernandinho was very good up to a year or 2 ago.

Makele wasn't bad.

Plenty of other CM that seemed to be at their best between the ages of 30 - 36 or so.

Not gonna lie, thought this meant there were gonna be porno sounds. Thankfully there wasn’t
Just someone screaming "Mutha fecka!!" from the very first second. The old ladies around me weren't too impressed!

Reading through this thread has boggled my mind more than any other transfer thread. The cognitive dissonance over our actual predicament is something else.

I’m with the posters who understand that beggars are in no position to be choosers.
We've been crying out for a half decent DM for 4-5 years straight now and we're getting people turning up their nose at the best in the world at that position and one of the most decorated ones ever still in his prime

All while we're sitting in bottom place in the league currently FFS, the Caf never ceases to amaze

Not against the signing at all but for fuk sake…the amount of money and time and effort and technology and blah blah blah we put in to scouting…and the solution is to spend crazy money on the most obvious player in the world at the very last minute.
Even if he improves us…it’s a fuking fluke!

We might as well invest another 40m and bring Declan Rice

It’s funny when people compare our transfer strategy with the one of Real Madrid. They are fighting for La Liga and Champions League, and we are fighting against relegation. Casemiro is good enough for us

West Ham would demand a lot more than £100m for Declan Rice at this stage.

If he was available for £100m right now, Chelsea would have already signed him.

I'm torn. One the one hand, how many 60m+ 30+ year olds have ever been bought? And why?

On the other, it's not my money and the possibility of signing talented younger players will be significantly improved if we have CL football.

I can understand people's concerns. This signing only makes sense if we go all out in the next couple weeks and also sign another CM, a RW, and a RB at least. Casemiro on his own won't transform us. Obviously he'd be a great signing taken in isolation, he's the DM we've been crying out for. But a team consists of 11 players, and we have several weak areas

Whenever I watch Madrid, he gets a lot of help from Modric in terms of ball progression when under pressure. Tbf it's the same with Fabinho & Thiago.

Question who can be our Thiago to come back and help
Step up, Ziqballer

Its a rebuild so not everything will happen at once

This gives us a top class DM to rival anyone in the world in that area though
I am not saying it's a bad move. In fact I am vocal to give good tools to ETH to work his way. I replied to the poster who said Conte didn't need time and with two players he transformed spurs and got top 4.

I think with casemiro need one elite right winger and good full back if possible one more midfielder. Then people can question ETH if results not improved. Not before though.

Lewandowski just moved for 50m at 34 years of age.

Absolutely it would be the right way to go. We need to build, it's not going to happen overnight.
We also need to stay in the league. Our last 22 PL games would have us in the bottom 3. We are in free fall and people need to wake up to that fact. Agree with your sentiment but this transfer needs to happen.

Fred was much better when played further up. One of our most productive players under Ralph. Let's speak facts please.
He's asking about his partnership with Casemiro with his national team. How is playing with Ralph relevant to that question?
I watched them play together the Copa America, they were good defensively but didn't offer much going forward. That is a fact.

We all love United
He’s coming here no doubt, too much positive signals for it not to. Feck Frenkie de Jong and give Casemiro the 21 jersey

West Ham would have to be insane to not accept 100m for Rice. We're going into a worldwide recession, and it would make him the 7th/ 8th most expensive player ever.

I guess the good thing about United's current situation is we don't have a bunch of Falcao's, Mata's and Di Maria's coming to leech off the club. Anyone coming here now is actually serious about grafting and improving themself and the team.

So how many years has this guy got left in him? It's not so much the age, it just seems that he's put a lot of miles in those legs of his. I have no data to back this up, but I feel like he's been around forever.

You would think that supporters of a club that literally didn’t have a midfield for over a decade wouldn’t be turning up their noses for one of the best ever in his position, and clearly the best around atm.

Bissouma…
Come on guys.

I agree. That’s what it costs to get a guy who is in the same universe as Casemiro but is under 25. And even then he’s not as good (yet).

Those saying he won't change our team on his own, no one will. We have to make a start.

Could be another Matic signing. Would Matic when he first signed be better than what we currently have?

Even FDJ alone wouldn't transform us and he was ETH's obvious main target for this summer.

Instead we're paying big money to fix entirely different needs. Which is fine, except there's no sign of us fixing that first priority problem, which is our inability to actually play with the ball to the level required in midfield.

If we sign Casemiro we desperately need another midfield signing. Otherwise we won't have backed ETH adequately, as we'll have ignored what his actual focus was in midfield.

If there's 1 player who would do the most to transform us, it's a DM, and in casemiro it's arguably the best in the world.

Get rid of Ronaldo and bring Casemiro in basically on the big wages and I think that'd go a long way to fixing a lot of issues. Still missing a deep playmaker, maybe Eriksen next to casemiro can be that.

Forgetting all of the other stuff like price, age, suitability for system, he’s one of, if not the best deep lying midfielder around. In which case, getting him obviously has quite a lot of logic to it.

As to whether he’ll fit with what ETH wants or whether buying guy at that age for that price is good business, or in keeping with the supposed new approach from the club, who knows.

If he’s fit and motivated he’ll improve us massively and stop us being run through in midfield, as has been the case in the first couple of games. If it’s a 4 year deal and we got peak Casemiro for the first 2 or 3, if take that now. And he should be even better when we put better quality midfielders in there, too.
