From nowhere. And it just shows if this lot are at it and up for it, they can beat anybody. Wonderful to beat the scouse anytime!

Let’s see what version rock up at Southampton now.

Very solid performance. It was not always pretty, but we did whatever was necessary to win in a derby.

What I like the most is that we came out of the blocks so well and surprised Liverpool completely at the start of both halves. Sure, we let them come closer as we dropped a little deeper, but bending without breaking is the difference between today and previous matches.

My big kudos of the match have to go to the back 4. I don't know how long that will last, but you could feel that Malacia and Martinez playing together changed the entire philosophy of the back 4 and thus the entire team. Confidence at the back is something contagious upon the rest of the team. My vote for MOTM goes to Martinez, but Malacia could have had half of the MOTM award if I could split that up in two.

For all the times I've criticized Rashford and Bruno at various times, they put up the fight we always wanted to see even when things are not always going right.

Last but not least, Erik Ten Hag... the man must have quite the balls of steel to sit down both Ronaldo and Maguire. I'm really happy that he is now taking full command of that team and shows that we can both do great things and look for improvement always. He deserves that backing all in good time. And that quote on Sky though!

Absolutely delighted for the players, but most importantly for the manager.

He was questioned and criticised in the press right up to the kickoff and he got his team to go out there, fight, and win with confidence.

I hope this is a catalyst for the team to get over the defeatist attitude that’s plagued us for months now.

Watched it with another United fan and a Liverpool fan in a Liverpool-ish pub.

I'm really not quite sure it's sunk in more than they're pretty fecking shit at the minute and we took some kind of advantage.

We fecking beat Liverpool. Get in.

Congratulations to all United fans. It’s been a bit too long since I saw my friend light up like he did earlier. Was a really great job.

To a man we beat them tonight.
De Gea - came up with some big saves when we needed them
Dalot - a terrier in that first half didn’t give Diaz an inch
Varane - the leader at the back, keep this fella fit
Martinez - made Carragher eat every word, he’s going to be quality at the back
Malacia - for me man of match, did absolutely everything right. If I’m Luke Shaw I’m working my arse off in training
McTominay- best performance in many of a year, played forward, broke up play, we need to see more of that
Eriksen- growing every week, great effort with the free kick.
Elanga- 45 minutes of hard work, running in behind, chasing, pressing, should have scored - he does everything right with that shot.
Fernandes- absolute dogged performance, worthy of the armband, gritty, fighting for everything - loved his sh!thoursery
Sancho - composure for his finish was sublime - brilliant, that’s why we spent £70 million on him
Rashford - It was like rolling back 2 years with Radhford tonight, took people on, dominated the centre halves, great finish

can’t you tell I’m happy?

we last beat Liverpool in the league 2 days after my little lad was born, he starts school in 2 week!

Always nice to beat Liverpool. But this was a Liverpool team that were missing players, and we've been known to be a squad filled with big game raisers. That being said, least we're turning up for the big games unlike last season.

If only we could reveal a new signing before every game, we could win the league

Really? We’ve been absolutely hammered in big games recently. I can’t even remember when we last turned up and put up a fight against Liverpool

We are not a very tall team. I think Maguire may have started if Nunez was available.
yeah bet the Barcelona manager was thinking that all the time " we need to drop Mascerano 5" 7 and alves 5"6 1/2 the other team have tall players."
It is media hyped to jump on United our new manager and our new players. Fortunately tonight they have to re write their pre written reports for the papers tomorrow. Get in brilliant.

Up till the season before last, we were more prone to dropping points against dross that parked the bus. Whether that's down to bottle or just these set of players being better suited to counter attacking is a different question.

Felt a little like Ole's wins vs City. So trying to not get too excited
Keep the good, get rid of the bad, improve. We were good on the counter under Ole.

This effort with better ball retention will make us a force to be reckoned with.

Just caught the highlights. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Great stuff! Fair play to all the players even the ones I've criticised a lot like McTom and Rashford, looked like they both played well. Love the look of Malacia, Martinez and Varane. Sancho's goal was great.

Now they really need to keep going and push on. That's the real test.

What an incredible team win!! THAT was the intensity we all wanted to see. Malacia is going to be a real gem. Astonished that a midfield of McEriksen + Bruno could win that midfield battle so convincingly. Salivating at Casamiro being added to improve it further.

Only annoyances, DdG constant hoofing (resulted in less possession) and Bruno's complete lack of judgment/safe play on our own half. One of those is at least easily fixable for next weekend

Just have a look at the MOTM voting I know Martinez was immense today and fans like his fighting spirit but imo Sancho should be MOTM. Scored the first very important goal and run his socks off all match. He probably made the highest number of sprints today.
Yup. Massive moment that changed the game.
After 1 OG in 180 minutes, Elanga hitting the post, it needed something special. His composure was astounding. Without his moment, I don't think rest of the game would go the same way.

De Gea had some awesome saves today. He also had a very tough punch, unlike him...I think he deserves a lot of credit for his performance.

Malacia and Martinez are some good signings there. With Casemiro in we may finish top 4 this season.

What an excellent game of football. Firstly, a masterful team selection by Ten Hag. Taking Maguire, Shaw and Ronaldo, three supposed team leaders, out of the team in favour of quicker, more dynamic players was ingenious.

As for the players, each one was wonderful and I could eulogise about their individual performances for a long while, but it’s 5:35am here in Malaysia where I’m back for summer, so I’ll keep it brief - Sancho, Rashford and Martial were electric, Bruno and McTominay showed immense commitment, and De Gea and his back 4, especially the centre backs, were absolutely remarkable.

An excellent victory, one of the most inspiring since Fergie retired. Hope it acts as not only a season starter, but a career starter for our manger in terms of his time here.
Did you watched it on astro or in some mamak shop with liverpool fans? I did, and it was GLORIOUS!

In the words of Erik Ten Hag; "They can fecking play good football"

My own addition; "When they can be fecking arsed"

Keeping it going... that's the true measure of a good team. I hope they can do it.

Also we got "lucky" that Nunez wasn't available, and instead they used awful Firminho. Those free headers on corners/set pieces could be different if Nunez was present.

You mean the midfield battle where they were competing against Hendo Milner and Elliot!?

The only reason we even managed to keep it competitive and eventually win was cuz of Liverpools injuries and absences; Fabinho didn’t start, Tiago and Konate were both absent, so was Nunez.

Not taking anything away from our deserved win but situation would’ve been much much different had we been playing pools best 11.

If anything Gomes did a decent job at CB but Fabinho and Tiago definitely made their midfield really poor.

But he wasn’t present & we won.

They got lucky Casemiro wasn’t playing.

They got lucky we haven’t signed Antony yet.

They got lucky Elanga hits the post on a chance a better player would bury.

They got lucky Trent didn’t get a yellow for his first foul because Michael Oliver is incompetent.

Just enjoy the fecking win man.
