If he was as loathed as those socalled reports claim I am certain they would ignore him.
Not even that. If you knew you weren’t liked by your colleagues and you saw them talking about you behind your back (the supposed leaks); would you really go out of your way to high five them? You wouldn’t. You would think they were all snakes.

And we all know Ronaldo doesn’t hide how he feels about things. So him being positive with them while not definitive he’s not toxic, is a pretty good indication that everything is alright.

No you wouldnt. The idea that Ronaldo is toxic for the dressing room is weird as feck. We even have reports now from his former Juventus team mates that there was never an issue with him.

I hope he leaves, because we play better without him, but to claim he is bad for the dressing room is nonsense.
Having a media circus around the club is never good for the club and team's harmony. It doesn't mean they don't all get along. They are colleagues and friends after all.

He can leave.

Problem is nobody wants him.
Yeah... nobody wants a guy who scores goals and was the top man united scorer last year

Sometimes I think people don't watch games, just read what the media writes.

This is great, you're writing as you know him in person.

Well tell me then, how come he hasnt left?

He was a top scorer yes, in a year in which we scored fewest goals in year.

Another fan I reckon?

Like everybody else in this thread?

And how is what I wrote indicative of that? I’m obviously referring to his on field persona and how he communicates and interacts with the press.

Your conclusion based on the video is that everything is all right. From few high fives.

Wether he is toxic or not is irrelevant. I don't believe he is.
He isn't compatible with the way we want to play.
This is pretty much it.
He just isn't compatible with our squad on the pitch or with the way we want to play.

The drama around him does us no favors either.

I bet most of the questions in todays conference will centre around Ronnie, even though he's unlikely to start.

I have no idea either, yet.

Good god people. Is this the Love Island thread? Or a family WhatsApp group?

This is the football part of the forum.

This will end on deadline day with Mendes offering to pay clubs to let Ronaldo play in the Champions League for them.

And even though I’m not being entirely serious, this is probably along the lines of what any club with a remote interest is thinking too.

Hang on in there, Maccabi Haifa.

I actually think you got something. I actually think his ready play for free, or even pay the club, as long as any club in CL wants him. But NO club wants him their dressing room, period.

This must one of those transfer sagas that goes down in history as one of the most anticlimactic ones. Actually feel a bit sad form him. With that rich of a career behind him. Why don't just hang up the boots instead and call it a day.

Italian papers name Napoli but also Sporting again because their CL poule looks a bit weaker. Maybe Ronaldo waited all this time for the CL draw. I still think most teams don’t want him, hopefully the deal with Napoli goes through because that would be the biggest chance to get rid of him.

It's not so much about him being toxic in the dressing room, but more that he has completely undermined the new manager. He barely turned up for pre season, so what sort of example does that set?

It's clear that we play much better as a team without him, and I don't think his ego will allow him to sit on the bench here, only starting in the Europa and League cup!

Hopefully he goes to Napoli and he scores a few goals against Liverpool in the group stages.

Aurelio, you old slag. It's the Mendmeister general. Have you bought a striker yet? No? Good, don't bother. I've got the man here. He's perfec'. Will he do pressing? He invented pressing. [winks at Ronaldo and does the Pinocchio growing nose gesuture] Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's good around the dressing room, yeah. We'll get a highlights reel over to you this afternoon. I'm seeing you Sunday, aren't I? For my sins? How is Kalidou? He left you yet? ......... Yep, alright, see you then. (Hangs up the phone) He has left him. I forgot about that.

"Cristiano Ronaldo was ‘brutally axed’ by Erik ten Hag" -- I don't know what this means, but it gives me the mental image of ten Hag as Jack Nicholson's character in The Shining hacking through Ronaldo's front door as he cowers in the bathroom.
You fot that mental image? Should we be worried?
Now, quickly, someone with photoshop skills, put Erik's face on Jack's "here comes Johnnyyy" bathroom photo from the movie.

Re read my last post. I said it isn’t definitive of him not being toxic but it’s indicative of a normal working relationship.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
Exactly. I mean if David Brent came up and high fived me at the office in a vain attempt to show he much he cares about team spirit, I’d just humour him. I think almost anyone would.
It’s the obvious thing to do in that situation, get it out of the way and let them move on to the next person. It says absolutely zero because if there is a major issue with him dragging down the mood I’d absolutely do what all those players do, particularly with all these cameras on me. To claim otherwise is just absurd.

There have been several training videos this week as well. He seems to get along fine with team mates.

Look. He might be a right cnut but I am hesitant to believe anything about the United dressing room from british media.
It's like Pogba. Well liked in the dressing room but still deemed a virus. It's possible to be ill suited to the team and also fit in at the same time.

This is where I am at. Its clear to everyone with proper functioning eyes that the way Ten hag wants to play simply doesnt match the type of player Ronaldo is, but that doesnt automatically mean he is a poison in the dressing room.

On 1 September, he will say that he has stayed with the club of his heart despite many great offers from big clubs.

Seems like this is all dependent on a CL club losing their starting striker first to put them in a position to sign Ronaldo. Maybe that or a big injury but his options look few and far between that I'd expect him to stay.

I loved the guy, but now I adore him even more.

It would be a gift from heaven if this guys fecks off to Napoli and Osimhen comes the other way around.

Also, negativity on forums and social media draws greater attention to posters than being positive about something. This is why historically there has been such a disparity between what former teammates and managers say about Ronaldo (overwhelmingly positive, professional, obsessively hard working etc.) and the self reinforcing negativity from a contingent of the (mostly online) fan base.

Didn’t Ten Hag say the other day that Ronaldo still had a role to play / will still play matches etc?
I have no doubt he means it as well, but it'll have to be on his (EtH's) terms and following his instructions, meaning Ronaldo might not also be a de factor starter. And I'm not sure Ronaldo is keen/ready to accept such a role, let alone not being in the UCL.

It's more like the clubs who can afford him and where he'd like to go (Bayern, Chelsea as an example), don't want him and the clubs who might be interested, cannot afford him.
