This is why Stone can't be relied upon. Until the club confirm anything he just hasn't got a clue.
Conversely that’s why he is reliable — he’s not speculative. Only gets involved when things are basically 100%

24 or 27. Eventually he'll get the 11 shirt but not until Greenwood situation is sorted which could be another season or two.
Do we have some kind of contractual obligation to insist Greenwood keeps the #11 shirt? We've changed shirt numbers between players during windows before. I notice Jones still has #4 as well, honestly I don't think either player would kick up a stink if they lost their shirt because nobody else would care given their situations.

Genuinely excited about this deal. Even more so than Sancho.

Its been a while. This lad will get bums off seats. When was the last time a signing did that for us?

You say this, but in a market where Chelsea have apparently offered £25m + Gallagher and Broja (reported at £85m value) for Anthony Gordon, is it really that crazy?
If that is true then that is a brilliant bit of business from Everton.

With regards Antony, we are overpaying but we can't go through a season with Elanga as our right winger. The right hand side of the pitch is a massive issue and in today's crazy prices, 70m is probably the going rate

Sancho on one wing. Antony on the other. Casemiro holding in midfield. Martinez and Varane clearing everything and slicing others in half.

Let's fecking GO.

€100m including add-ons this club of ours is really, really, really dumb
the Sancho deal was initially held up because of the price and the fact that they wanted the sum up front if I recall. So we walked away. That would be unusual for a fee of that size…did we ask for that for Ronaldo?

So I’m sure there will be a significant portion of the €100 million accounted for in Add ons and future instalments. Throw in the Nunez/Fontana/Cucurella/Gibswhite noises going on this window - and the fact we left it so late - I’d say we have only been marginally ripped off.

Absolutely tired of the goals and assists conversation, it needs to stop. Robben had 8 goals and 10 assists in the eredivisie the season before Chelsea bought him. Also, one of the greatest wingers in history with two world cups (both of which he was an all star in) only ever scored 12 goals for his country and was about 1 in 4 for goals and assists in his career.

Why is it only United we have whole package fees and its an English club why cant you do some maths for the English press. Cant you just write 70 mill pounds + 10 mill add ons? They just do it so it sounds like we spent 100mill, which is true but its euros. If Gordon goes for 60/70 and we pay 70 plus add ons its still a rip off but at least we are talking the same money and can have a comparison.

Agree about our need. Classic case of supply and demand setting the price.

None of us ever have any right to complain about the United tax again after this. We've done it to ourselves and it's a simple as that.

Sancho was also the first player ever to get 15 goals and 15 assists in the Bundesliga a few seasons back. On rations since he joined Utd

Tweets tend to talk in Euros when involving European clubs. Nothing unusual there.

That isn't how it works though. We spend more than any team on the earth. We would just spend the money on other players if not Antony.
No. Money was spent on players that brought commercial value to make money for the club or ones that were the managers second or third choice to save a bit of money

It's clear ten Hag wanted Anthony and I'd much rather that than another journeyman signing.

How quick is Antony? Iv watched clips and some Ajax games but not sure if he’s a pacey winger or more a sancho type? Love his left footed shooting from the right. Scores some peaches.

So once again Utd caved in demands and caved in. This club never learns. No wonder the clubs always take advantage of Man Utd.
Caved in? We have left it until the last few days of the transfer window, we were in for him before at least half of this, but then it went silent. You can’t blame Ajax for maximising what they can get, the issue IS United and NOT Ajax demands. We simply never learn.

All who are complaining about the fees, please answer the below

Our right wing is dead as feck. We can either not spend it and give it back to the owners back account and then blame the owners for not spending money.

Or

We can spend it now (overspending by about 20m) on one of the coveted international winger and hope he will help us get what we need.

You should also be able to name an alternative if you feel this is costly. The other options are Berardi, Olise, Ziyech, Asensio - so take your pick now.

Basically , stop complaining for the sake of it and get on with it.

When you compare the fee to what Chelsea have paid for their recent transfers, it doesn't seem that bad.
I can't think of any metric that makes the value of this deal seem anything other than massively excessive.

That said, I'd rather have a manager with a group of players he wants to have rather than players signed for commercial value.

Sancho and Antony on either wing...both in their early 20's

Exciting times.

Overpay!
Celebrate!

In all seriousness I think he’ll be worth it. We were stinking up the place on the wings yesterday.

Or hopefully with the additions so far, and ETH working his magic, we will be much better off next season and won’t be as desperate, so we can walk away from deals if needs be.

You poured scorn on the Martinez and Malacia deals too from memory so hopefully you’re wrong again! (Appreciate early days but both look decent).

In terms of fee we are where we are. In a window where Nunez cost €100m early on from the Portuguese league, and the likes of Fofana who isn’t even a full international yet with barely any senior level experience, is going for €89m, it’s easy to see why the fee for Antony is where it is.

When you factor in they’ll be ad-ons to achieve, his age, his position (you pay more for forwards) and the fact he’s one of EtHs number one targets in a key position we need I think the fee is about right.
Never scorn on Malacia! I was doubtful though, also on Martinez, but he's been excellent.

I don't think Antony is bad though, just unproven and because of that, too expensive. He could well be the new Neymar in a few years.

And, take an extra grain of salt with my opinion for the fact I really fecking dislike Antony.

Overpaid but it is such a key gap we need to plug. The ability to finally attack down either wing is going to strengthen us so much.

More of the Sancho type. But he is a real Brazilian in terms of technique, dribbling and ball control, with a decent shot too. His shooting is probably better than Sancho’s (although Sancho may be a better finisher if it makes sense)

I think he’s quicker than Sancho. He loves to get in iso situations vs a fullback, whereas Sancho is a give and go player.
