I really like this post, as it’s accurate and positive.

You’re never going to do a full rebuild in one window, was always going to be 2-3 to get the squad where we want it. But the progress we’ve made in the first window is exceptional imo.
obviously its still on paper and we need to see some games.

To have a second string with AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Mcfred, DVB, Elanga Martial and Rashford is also looking positive for cup games and Europa League. We wont need to play the same players 3 times a week and its a relatively strong second 11.

You'd swear he's been a wall for 6 months the way people are talking.

He's had two decent games.
point proved though - he's playing well so nobody talks about the money.

So how long until where gonna start hearing the Sancho-esques excuses like "he needs to play with someone better than Dalot", "people are not making runs for him to pick passes", "he's a system player" etc.

International clubs completly exploit english clubs, knowing they pay every amount in this world for the players they want to have. Does no one care about that ?
Great first post - nope.

Maybe we should all thank Brentford for doing us a favor. It all changed after that match.
If we had lost to LFC and Soton Frenkie and 6 more will be training today at Carrington. Damn you Sancho...

Martial will be far from a backup player as long as he’s fit imo. Sancho-Martial-Antony is a very exciting front three on paper.

True, maybe CR7 in there or Rashford in side and Diallo/Garnacho/Pellestri wide.

Martial looked good pre season - ETH got him running. Hes a good finisher. Its whether he can do that consistently and keep his motivation/fitness which has always been an issue

He does need to play with someone better than Dalot. It’s obvious how much he benefits from having the width provided by his fullback at Ajax, it’s obvious how Robertson and Alexander Arnold benefited Mane and Salah, it’s obvious how Dani Alves created the room for Messi to work his magic, etc. And it’s obvious that Dalot is not anywhere near those levels.

Quick question to everyone saying we've wasted money. We clearly needed a right winger to come in this summer, so who would you have got instead?

Honest question, not looking to start an argument. Everyone keeps saying we should have gotten someone else but rarely do I see an actual name.

Pedro Neto at half the price and would likely do the same job as Antony. Also highly rated

Yes it's a lot of money and yes it's a big step up.

One of things United have struggled with is breaking down teams who sit in, low block etc. This guy looks to have all the skill to start unlocking those defenses

Will he be signed in time for Thursday? Probably not with work permits and stuff right?

Every time I see the price for this guy, I'm a little bit sick in my mouth.

Absolutely ridiculous and borderline stupidity. I guess only time will tell now but I'm worried about it.

Think he'll flop

Reminds me of a young Shaqiri how he plays, turns with that strong left foot, love it!
He's even got more flair and amazing dribbling skills, hope he doesn't forget/hide them under bigger pressure like Memphis did.

These aren't excuses though and are already facts in some cases. He will need someone better than Dalot on the overlap, as that's part of the way he plays. He will bamboozle the defence and get ganged up on, then space is there for the overlapping full back etc.

He also needs a decent striker to play with, otherwise what's the point of going past three players and putting in a cross, if Rashford is stationary outside the box looking confused about how a children's author has ended to in this position?

The money doesn't worry me. 80m isn't huge in today's game, and it doesn't stand out next to 80m Sancho, 80m Maguire, 60m Casemiro, Ronaldo and whoever else. It doesn't grab headlines anymore.

Genuinely excited to see a flair player at United.. I hope he doesnt stop his little tricks .. Players dont do it enough these days..
I think that for a club of our stature we have not had enough entertainers/flair type players. These are the type of guys that make kids grow up wanting to play for you (provided we are successful as a club) - it looks like we’re remedying this. Should always have one of these in the team. Now we have Antony and Sancho. if they develop the way they’re supposed to, we should be a really threatening team and have some really fun moments to look forward to.

Exciting to have a player like him who can beat a man. Not really had that since Nani?

Not as dramatic as you make out when you consider the current market

What's the point of a post like this? Just be happy we signed a talented young player and don't look to shit on him before he's even kicked a ball.

Wonder what number he will he get?
I've noticed recently I've stopped paying attention to numbers. When we signed a new player I'd hoped he'd get a 'good' number. Now he could get number 36 and I wouldn't give a shit
