They are a worse team with him in it. There’s no getting away from it. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it, and definitely don’t spend 80m trying to fix the thing that wasn’t broken. He’ll have a few patches of good form and hit a hattrick against a lesser side, but the vast majority of the games he plays, Liverpool will be easier to play against and their possession stats will go down. Having a good first touch is something you can’t learn, most professional footballers possess one from a young age but this guy doesn’t, and it’ll cause attack after attack to break down. Klopp will bench him for a while soon IMO, and Diaz Salah Jota will get Liverpool back on track.

While there is obvious a learning gap between Portuguese league and EPL, it seems that he is a much lower level version of Haaland. He is the hardworking striker who’d be perfect for a David Moyes team … 10-12 league goals a year and presses from the front.

I will agree he's not as good as Haaland but it's too early to draw conclusions about his overall quality.

He drifts out to the LW quite a lot; did he do that in Portugal or is this something new Klopp has instructed him to do?

From Youtube compilations I noticed him being on the LW a lot at Benfica.

As a club that is about to have their big money signing (Antony) scutinized heavily by the press and opposition fans maybe we shouldn't be so quick to mock others big money transfers that haven't become world class in 4 games.

As a United fan for 30 years I’ve seen some fantastic strikers come and go at Old Trafford, even for opposition. Ronaldo scoring a hat trick for Madrid, Drogba bullying our whole defence, Henry and his unstoppable runs etc.

I pride myself, as most United fans do, on being able to spot a great ST, from the mentality to the small stuff they do off the ball.

I only had to see about 3 games of Nunez to know he’s a fecking donkey. If we spent £85m on him I’d be fecking gutted.

Nunez had a really bad game with a couple good involvements, and thats about it. Players needing to settle in to the league is definitely a thing, but you cant be a Liverpool fan and not have a pinocchio nose if you genuinely thought (and think) that this guy will be better than Haaland. That debate has already ended

Don’t disrespect Lukaku by comparing the two. Lukaku is a much better player

Nunez may have scored a lot of goals last season, and is still clearly a decent goal scorer once he gets going, and he has very good movement to get in good positions, but Antony is just a miles better footballer regardless of stats.

Antony has great technique, dribbling ability, passing ability, crossing, pressing, flair, skills, decision making etc.

We all love United
Lukaku was a much better player and goalscorer at Nunez’s age. Thoroughly unfair to lump them together as a comparison

I love some of the Liverpool fans comments after the game today:

He’s gonna be such a monster once it clicks with his teammates

He’s going to be brilliant.

Carrying our attack at the moment, literally the only one of our front five who's "at it".
Almost scores a beautiful goal and consistently looks dangerous,
The best comment is an image of a horse trying to play with a ball, yep, they see what really happened today

At least with Antony we have definite proof that he isn't a donkey, can't say the same about Nunez.

So far, so poor. The number of times he heads it and it doesn't even go towards goal is bizarre. His work rate is fine and he can catch the ball cleanly at times, as with that shot late in the first half, so he'll definitely score a few. But he looks very, very raw and I'd say its far from certain he'll develop in the right way. Klopp better be doing extra coaching sessions with the guy.

After several years of slam dunks, Liverpool's recruitment seems to have had a wobble recently. Long may it continue.
Shows you that even elite managers wirh so much scouting and everything these things happen. Remember veron and Sanchez.. What were we thinking

Yep. "Lukaku with pressing" I think he was called by one of our Portuguese league watchers when we were in for him early in the window.

Turning into a pretty good assessment.
To be fair lukaku wirh gegenpress would work well. Need to shut up more though
