Go to your flag shagger forum mate.
The people who accuse others for being "flag shaggers" are often fond of flags themselves... Pride flags, BLM, EU, some other country.

When they say you shouldn't show solidarity to a flag, they tend to mean you shouldn't show solidarity to flags other than the ones they like.

No I’m really not. It’s forgotten about when posters make assumptions we should be all grieving and agreeing football etc should be postponed when this monarch nonsense doesn’t make a bit of sense to us. It was the same when the English fans were shocked the majority of us wanted England to lose last summer in the Euros.
Theres as many, if not more, foreign United fans on here as English. To expect reverence for the monarchy is idiotic.
As there is the same for the actual club, but we have to remember the club is based in England where the monarchy is.

It’s a website which is based in Ireland yes, but it’s on the internet which has thousands of members and visitors from all over the world. I dont think many are expecting those from outside the UK to understand the monarchy and it’s traditions in the UK (personally I’m not overly interested in it at all & would rather one week as opposed to two, but tradition/process is tradition and procees) so we as a collective group of fans should respect the rules and wishes of a monarchy or governing body (PL or the government in this case) of where the club is based.

What a weird response. My question was heartfelt, I’m not from England, I thought she was just a symbolic figure hence the question. I can’t imagine liking or mourning someone who claims to be my king or queen but again I feel like this is a cultural thing and she did just die so I’m going to respectfully not comment on this clearly sensistive issue.
Speaks the person who says "Do people really care that much? Its just an old person who gets called a fancy title." and later claims this is being "heartfelt".

Hey, someone randomly called me a flag shagger. I don't even know if that's a bad enough insult to report or not!

I get emotions are running high though so no report from me, lots or people seemingly very sad or delirious with joy.

Amazing that you're talking about things being an utter disgrace and a lack of respect and brains, then in your next post you're casually throwing around a word like retard.

Yeah, but this forum isn’t English. The majority of fans aren’t.
I don’t have to respect shit about the monarchy, they have feck all to do with me. I can call out how archaic it all is and how mine boggingly stupid 12 day of mourning is. I just think it’s ridiculous that some people think you can’t say shit about all of this on an Irish forum without posters policing the thread crying about respect.
Again, not an English forum.United aren’t political , they’re a football club. Just because they’re English doesn’t mean I go around on tippie toes when discussing Brexit or how fecked the Tories are leaving Britain just because Utd are an English club.

I didn't. I have genuinely no idea how bad an insult it is.

I imagine it's an insult at overly patriotic people, which is hilarious as I am not remotely patriotic and don't like the monarchy. I should actually report you for inaccuracy. It's like me calling you a Scouser.

Football was cancelled when Diana died so I’d be surprised if the weekend fixtures at least aren’t cancelled.

Personally, I wouldn’t postpone as people who wish to mourn can do so in their own way. As has been said, there will also be a lot of people who have incurred significant expense to go to sporting events this weekend and feels it would be better to primarily focus on it being a celebration of her life.

You complain about my Nazi flag, yet you yourself have the flag from animal house on your wall. How can you love one and not the other?

Diana's death was different as there was outrage and hysteria over how she died.

I'm sure it wasn't... Was it? I have a very specific memory of watching football that same day for some reason

I can't believe you failed to grasp my point. I am neither overly patriotic nor aghast at the sight of a pride flag. I'm simply pointing out the hyposlcrisy of people that chide others for feeling kinship with flags when they do that very thing themselves, as long is it is they flag they like. People are just so partisan and treat people they disagree with as untermensch.

Why can't you just accept some people care about the monarchy, others may not without resorting to calling them names or treating them as stupid or evil?

The premier league match on the day she died was cancelled. Not sure if any lower league matches took place. They were then all cancelled the weekend of her funeral I think.

My feeling is they will cancel this weekend and for the funeral but not for anything in the middle.

Edit - on a quick check it looks like they only cancelled on the actual day of the funeral (Saturday), not the Sunday.

The disrespect being shown in here (by some) is horrific. Reminds me why I closed down by Twitter account.
