Hardly rapid. Took some shit on a stick to get here.
I think he means from Jan 2022 to Nov 2022.
2020, 2021 the improvements were not that obvious. So for most it would seem after 2 years of little to no progress suddenly Arsenal has not just become contenders for top 4 but on current form may even challenge for the Title (atleast for some time). That in itself is huge progress. That too with a very young squad and no marquee signings (Jesus barely qualifies as a marquee signing, not when compared to what Liverpool signed in Allison/VVD)

I'm intrigued, I don't think it'll happen, but IF we do win the PL, what players in our squad, if any, would people consider world class?

For me, Partey, Saliba and Jesus. Saka, Odegaard, White and Martinelli would be just behind that. Obviously a lot can change still.

Or, would people think none and you need more time etc etc

It's a bit of a daft question Nish, because there's too many hypotheticals. And a good few months, or even a good season doesn't make you world class in my books anyway. Need to prove to be a top performer over a couple of seasons for me.

yeh I haven’t thought about this. We haven’t splashed obscene amounts on one player. Ben white I think is our most expensive signing at £50mil? Jesus and Partey next at £45mil each. Pretty good business, esp when you consider how young our squad is.

Yh I know there is, hence why I left it open to opinion.

Maybe, although winning the PL seems to left players up a bracket in recent history. Some of the Liverpool players went to being world class in 1 season in the general opinion when they had their first big season (I know not the PL win).

The Arsenal choke begins with the efl cup loss.
It is more than likely but Arteta also made 10 changes to the previous game as well as giving the goalkeeper his first game with the club. It's disappointing but we're a bit thin on the ground in a lot of positions and with the WC coming up we can almost guarantee injuries. It looks like Arteta probably wanted out of at least one competition to me.

Steady on FFS

Let’s see how you get on and what you end up winning. Leicester won the PL remember..

World class means sustained success and established international level players.

Partey is too lazy and doesn't try hard enough. He's not fast enough like Bruno to influence a game by much.

The better players in the squad are the 3 Gabriels without a doubt. Followed by Saliba, Zinchenko, Tierney (same position lol) and Aaron imo.

Partey is the most important player in our squad in my opinion. That might not mean he's the best, but he's the player that we don't have a decent replacement for, and the statistics show a clear difference from when Partey plays and he doesn't.

Partey’s probably our least replaceable player. Firstly, he’s quality. And secondly, there are very few players that operate effectively as a lone 6 at the base of an attacking 433.

EDIT: I’ve just seen that GoonerBear has said pretty much the same thing.

Yep definitely true. He's not world class though.

I wouldn't say any of our players are. Like others have said, World Class to me means you show top level over at least a couple of seasons, not over a third of a season. That's just good form.

Potentially, for sure. Really depends if he carries on progressing and keeps this form over several seasons.
That’s true, and I think he will. This might be premature but he does give me Van Dijk vibes at times when I watch him. He’s only 21 though, so a very long way to go before he justifies any of these labels.

I mean, I did emphasise the fact that it was a big IF haha. I'm fully aware it's a very hypotetical question.

And they did ye, and for a while people thought Mahrez and Kante were up there, and possibly Vardy but less so.

This is a similar situation except a few of our players have a bit more consistency behind them before 1 year.

Not sure what you're watching tbh. Partey tries plenty hard enough, he's our most important player. He consistently influences games..

And.. Gabriel the CB is our worst starting player, although he still isn't bad..

In fact, most your post is abit backwards.

Pains me to say it, but Arsenal have been brilliant this season. Credit to them for sticking with Arteta and letting him build his team. Hoping with a year or 2 we can do the same with Ten Hag.

Well Kante is world class and has won a World Cup, CL and pretty much everything else.

As I say it’s about sustained success.

Yh don't disagree. Although, you could see Partey is on the cusp of it, he just needs to stay injury free really.

To me White is the interesting one. He was very good last season despite what people seem to think based off the first 3 games, and this season he's been as good as Saliba. I think he needs another season really, but he's been so good

And they're playing good footy too. Martinelli in particular is a player I really enjoy.

This is the thing though. Is White doing it at the very highest level? Internationally and Champions League?

Without hitting that he’s not going to be world class.

They’re insufferable.
They do get a little bit carried away considering it’s not even Christmas yet but they are doing well and it’s easy to get caught up in the moment.

Id suggest they just enjoy things as they are rather than trying to declare certain players world class at such an early stage.

White being called worldclass is a typical Arsenal fan thing. I hope their fans don't backtrack if and when results go south to protect their manager then. You can't have both of the worlds.

The Leicester season didn't make them world class, what they went on to do for their next clubs and at international level made them world class....

2 Gabriels*

Gabriel (The defender) needs to be upgraded and relegated to a squad option.

Saliba is world class. Partey, Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard just one step behind. But you really need just one wc player in your squad really, the rest could be made up of good players. I'd say City has only one WC player in De Bruyne, doesn't seem to be hurting them.

Nobody is world class after 13 games in his premier league career. Slow down there mate.

Flipping heck, a good run of form and everyone suddenly becomes world class.

None of their players are world class right now. Saliba has the potential to be there, but he’s not even played half a season at this level ffs.

Surely Garnacho is world class after Thursdays performance then.

Last season it was despair with fans wanting Arteta out and the whole squad revamping. Now they are all world class.

No.

When these players win things, perform internationally and in the Champions League they are world class.

The clue is in the name. World, Class.

Nonsense. By that reasoning Kane is not world class, and RVP became world class only when he joined Utd.

It makes your previous post even more strange to suggest Haaland isn’t world class but Kane is.
