Let’s not cream ourselves over a 15 minute cameo.

(He is the real deal)
Au contraire, let's. He was brilliant. I saw more from him than I can recall ever seeing from Sancho in a United shirt.

I've been saying we should give him a run for a while now
A run at the number 7 or a run in the team. I'm sure ETH would have liked to as well but hid attitude wasn't good. It's important he stays grounded and keeps working hard.

plays like his idol CR7 at the sane age. With a touch more footballing maturity. Long may it continue
I know we're hyped up about the kid, but come on. He doesn't have the skills that Ronaldo had at that age. CR7 was an electric dribbler. We signed him because he turned us inside out at the age of 18.

Garnacho looks really positive and direct, with a good touch and shot on him. I don't see any out of this world skillsets with him though.

The pass for McTominay (which Olsen arguably should have cut out to be fair) was promising though. So far all we've seen is him attacking fullbacks, with very little else to his game. If he starts developing a more all-round game then we really are talking. Really looking forward to seeing how he develops.

He is a brilliant prospect but no he is not ready to be thrown into the deep end like that. Young players need to be bedded in, its not an easy league to start expecting young players to come in and start delivering. And thats what he will have to do once he is given that level of profile. In a team that's up and down.

Yeah let's calm down a bit. He has things to iron out, let him do it at a comfortable pace. It was a terrific sub performance but there will be some tougher challenges ahead. Especially in the league

Can see Antony being given the 7 shirt, before anyone else, unless we buy a wc talent next summer.

I wouldn't even consider giving him the number 7 shirt for at least a few seasons. For sure he is a very talented young player but there is no need to pile the pressure on him or risk giving him an over inflated ego before he has really proven himself.

We have seen a lot of young players that we expected to become world class but then fell away due to either not progressing as expected or behaviour issues and I don't want to see the same thing happen here.

I have high hopes for Garnacho but for once let's allow him to develop at his own pace and have some patience.

After what happened with Greenwood, I would rather not try and put too much pressure on the next highly talented youngster to break into the first team.

Wait until they're established and not proven to be a scumbag before giving them the number 7.

I'll keep that 49 on his back for as long as possible, Greenwood and Januzaj are proof we need to keep this players as grounded as possible.

Slow down, it's 2 fecking games.

I remember being on here for CR7 debut that turned a 1 - 0 lead into a 4-0 scoreline with him winning a penalty, being involved in Gigg's goal and creating a guilt edged chance for RVN and Rooney's debut against Fernabache with that hattrick and the main reaction after those matches was like. "We gonna win the treble!!!!!" Took them 3 years to win the league and 4 to win the CL.

Although there’s positive signs, let’s not get ahead of our selves. We all got excited over januzaj and that never worked out.

The no7 doesn’t mean the same as it used to. It’s almost like a burden with the pressure it comes with these days so giving it to a 20 year old is a bad idea. Ideally unless it’s actually deserved I would leave it vacant. Always wanted it to be retired when we lose Robbo.

Hear me out on this one… our new no.7 — Lisandro Martinez. Who says no?
You know what I’d absolutely love this. Tbf I wouldn’t say no to Garnacho either. Yes I bet the whole pressure factor but some players just have it and from what I’ve seen he’s in that camp. It’s a real show of faith the club believes in you and then it’s all up to you.

Martinez does have the right mentality though to also claim it tbh.

Was Redcafe even a thing when Ronnie made his debut against Bolton?

Also, says you joined in 2007...

Not yet, Antony is next in line anyway.

Garnacho is a talent but he is not a certainty, he cant beat a man the way Cristiano could even at 18. He needs a few more years of coaching before he gets anywhere near the number 7 shirt.

Have to admit, the number 7 hype doesn't really mean much to me.... so just a run in the side

He needs to get a contract extension as soon as possible. He has just a year left on his contract. He would have been part of this world cup but for ETH disciplinary measures!

Cristiano was a different player. He was a dribbler and a dancer at 18. Don't want to compare but Cristiano never made that assist Garnacho made for the 4th goal at 18. He is pure quality!

I'm...it would seem...in the minority here on not giving up yet on Sancho. He flashes some serious playmaking ability but seems to still battle consistency. I can agree with that assessment, but he's still probably our most dangerous seeming player with the ball at his feet in the box.

But the dude is still only 22...I mean giving up on insanely talented, yet inconsistent players that age under contract would...IMHO...be comically bad business. So he gets #7 next year.

I worry about him getting too much heat from the media and it affecting him adversely. But I suppose at some point he's either up for the badge or he's not. This is the kind of club where players have to be very tough mentally, due to so much focus and pressure not just from fans but ex-players and media as well. And it is going to get worse as EtH brings this team back.

You see that effect with a lot of these guys. Well that plus some non-world class management in previous years. EtH is different though, we now have a world class manager so I hope things work out with Garnacho and that he sticks around and learns from him.

Sancho can be the 7 at another club if he continues his current form.
Sancho can barely handle the pressure as he is. Let's not saddle him with more pressure
I’m not writing off a 22 year old just yet but you’re both welcome to your opinions, he’ll wear the 7 @ Manchester United next season though. . .

Garnacho can have it in a few years if all else fails, not after 4/5 appearances.

Edit: As above Antony needs a new number so Garnacho can have the 17 when we move Fred on.
