Is Ronaldo justified to say that he “feels betrayed” by Manchester United?

God Howson and Rio piss me off in that video. When did the club ever refuse to let him go? We obviously waited for a proper offer from other clubs which never happened because other clubs aren't mental or even capable of paying that drama queen what he is earning here. How can they simply overlook that? Carragher is spot on there.
Yeah it was bizarre. Carragher depressingly the voice of reason. Luckily the comments in that video called them out for it.

ETH handled the whole Ronaldo situation brilliantly I must say. If it end with us getting a new striker in Jan it's a masterclass.
Well hopefully this will force the Glazers hand. Maybe with his wages off the book (barring a big payoff), it might free up some funds.

But not entirely sure who we could get in January that would actually be good AND realistically available.

Rio Ferdinand comes across as the biggest arse licking **** I’ve ever seen. He’s severely gone down in my estimation, and I imagine Roy and the rest of them will do soon as well.

Yep. So glad that with Ole gone and hopefully soon Ronaldo, we could stop seeing them pathetically rushing to their mates defence.

He was probably hoping to do this interview as a player for another club.

Remember back to August and he said "everyone will know the truth come September?"

He has probably been planning this for a while and thought he would be long out of Old Trafford by now. He isn't and just pulled the trigger on doing it anyway.

Presumably ETH isn't going to have to do an interview til mid-December now right?

If anything, he might be viewing this as a blessing tbh. Unites the dressing room, gets rid of an underperforming player and shows the rest of the squad who is boss.

Shut up Rio.
At 8:55 when he said, "what's changed?" Carra should've just said, "he's not done the business on the pitch this season." That's what I was thinking. Why put up with his tantrums when you're not getting the end product of a so-called great player.

The further we get away from the glory years, and seeing how our ex-players have conducted themselves, Ronaldo included, the more I appreciate Eric Cantona. Guy knew his time was coming, retired on a high and has never had a bad word about the club these past years (not that I'm aware of anyway). The one true King. He's definitely not off to Qatar to commentate on games either!

Ronaldo should cancel his contract and leave for free.

I hope Portugal crash out of group stage and Messi win the world cup and settle the GOAT debate once for all.

Up till today, the first thing Rio comes out and says is to defend Ronaldo.

I paraphrase:

"Special players like Ronaldo have to be treated differently"

Blame firmly placed with the manager and club.
Apologies, I haven't watched it all and Rio's constant defense of Ronaldo annoys me but (without context) I think in general this point is true and has always been the case. Fergie did it a lot himself. There is leeway with certain players

Ronaldo was one of those and if he played the part of a Giggs, Scholes or what Ibra has at Milan then yes. But he still thinks he is 27. His behaviour has meant he doesn't deserve special treatment

Personally I don’t see this is as a bad situation at all for United. One of the biggest gripes I, and many others, have had with United is the mentality of our players and that at times we’ve looked like a squad without harmony and without focus and motivation. ETH could use this as a weapon to create a siege mentality and to really bring our squad together. Are there likely to be many players in our squad who have a strong allegiance to Ronaldo that’ll be really destabilised by this? Perhaps a couple. But manageable in my opinion. ETH has been handed an easy method of bringing his squad together, showing them that performance and dedication matters and not history, and a way from moving on from a player who is done.

Some say the media distraction will be problematic. I personally disagree. ETH just has to professionally handle the questions that will come his way, the players can be instructed not to get involved, and internally we can make this a positive. How we deal with him is irrelevant to me. He gets paid, he doesn’t, whatever. I don’t care. The bigger picture is we can now easily marginalise and move on from him. And then turn this into a positive to motivate our team.

Being friends with Piers Morgan, connecting with Jordan Peterson, now this... I'm afraid of what's coming up in the world cup
Do you think Portugal are better off without him in the team for the World Cup?

The last paragraph is key. Great managers treat special players differently but only in so far that they are special. Sentiment is out the window for the top managers. Ronaldo is no longer a top player. He isn’t a super star who is key behind the scenes in driving and developing our youth. He isn’t some inspirational figure elevating those around him. He’s not adding anything at all, on and off the field. ETH has handled this really well IMO, and he has another opportunity now in turning this drama into a positive internally at the club.

It doesn't really matter since we have Fernando Santos as manager. But I'd prefer to use him as an impact sub. Won't happen though.

I always doubt whether Piers Morgan really wholeheartedly admired Ronaldo, or he just bootlick Ronaldo until Ronaldo accepts to get interviewed by him so that he can be more famous (Piers Morgan is nobody outside UK).

As a United fan I can never imagine myself being a Henry or Gerrard, Drogba fanboy, no matter how great they are as player
100%.

Also, 100% Ronaldo isn’t happy with how Piers have presented the interview only picking out the worst bits and pieces without giving it any context. It’s supposed to include him telling the “truth” of what happened, shocking events. What is the “truth”, that HE does not respect ETH?

Oh you won’t believe what happened at Man Utd, it’s really shocking, OMG if I tell everything the world will be amazed about it. What is it? What is it? What is it? OK, here it comes, I don’t respect ETH.

He is totally bang on about our facilities not being good enough for an elite team, however you don't go in on the manager and say you have no respect for him because that's out of order.

If Ronaldo has a shred of self respect I’m sure there is a mutual termination clause in the contract (I’ve never seen a contract without one)…it would seem both parties are in agreement here.

Something tells me though he wouldn’t engage it though for fear of zero suitors once implemented…pathetic

To be fair, that was the gag.
Very fair. I just like spelling things out in full, isn't this the right thread for that? You know, what with Ronaldo stating United's operations are behind the times and the Glazers aren't great owners.

Reckon United should start handing out some kind of Messi = GOAT signs etc for the rest of the season while benching Ronaldo, obviously fans will have to chant Messi's name too.

Paying the cnut 500k a week to listen to his "fans" cheer his greatest rival and having a camera dedicated to his reactions would be a goldmine, reckon MUTV could charge an extra £1 each fan too, probably cover his wages.

I can't stand either of them. I'd rather Rooney chants.
