I have no idea either, yet.
I think a lot of the posts are hypocritical considering all he’s doing in the interview is criticising UTD which is what all of us ever do on the Caf. Piers Morgan is his Caf and he’s entitled to it imo.
Are you really equating teenage numpties (no offence folks) posting anonymously on an internet forum to one of the world's biggest celebrities turning a reveal all interview into a week long global media carnival?

My word.

He is about to lunch his NFT collection on binance. Some serious marketing he has done with that interview

I don't know where you work but if I gave a TV interview saying I don't respect my boss I'd be handed my P45. Which let's face it, is exactly what he wants.

I'm sure we'd happily rip up his contract and tell him to feck off as well but again he wants to get paid doesn't he. Why should we pay him?

Interesting take indeed  Apparently some random nobodies posting stuff online is exactly the same as someone employed by the club throwing everyone under the bus.

Ronaldo, what a narcissistic cretin. I'd buy the scouser who coined the name "Ronald Trump" a beer because it's so apt (and hilarious).

He lives in a world of selfish delusion, any hint of criticism and he melts down, such is his fragile ego. If i had a Ronaldo shirt I'd donate it and hopefully he leaves our club asap. No longer a legend in my eyes.

At the world cup.

McCarthy brought the players together in an evening meeting to air any grievances, but said it turned into "a slanging match" with the midfielder, who the manager said had called him "every expletive imaginable from c to w...".

McCarthy felt he had no alternative but to send the country's most high-profile player home, saying he could not tolerate the level of abuse being directed at him.

"I have made the right decision not only for the benefit of me, but the squad as well," the Irish boss told a press conference called that night to announce Keane's departure. "We will move on and be all right because collectively we are strong.

He has always been terrible in my view. I don't think there are worse personalities than the narcisist who is successful. It's just never their fault.

In his early days before the PR machine he could be extremely silly. As an example, he purposely antagonized all Porto and Benfica fans in his Manchester United first tenure. Once, he gave the finger to Benfica fans at their stadium (because they whistled at him during the game). And when he scored the Puskas goal, at the flash interview, he refused to answer any question and just repeated two or three times with his most punchable face "I am very happy to have scored against Porto."

Now I see nothing particularly bad about those attitudes in particular, some players chose to act as fans against rivals. Quaresma for example probably looks like a massive idiot to Sporting fans but he couldn't care less. Guys like Figo or Moutinho were eternally booed in some stadiums for some actions in their careers and they just took it normally, they knew that was the normal consequence of what they had chosen to do. It's the innability to own up to the actions that makes narcisists unbearable. It was famous at the time a prime time TV interview with Ronaldo, when asked why so many people (non sporting fans, basically) disliked him and he answered "because I'm rich, good looking and score lots of goals".

Booing players is the most normal thing in Portugal, if you left a rival club not too long ago. I know a few in here took exception to that, and I fogured it's not as normal in England, but it's a run-of-the-mill thing here, it would take someone very precious to care about that. If you want to give the finger to 75% of football fans in your country just own up to it, don't go crying and saying it's because they envy you. I envy any profession footballer.

As he entered the debate about being the best in the world, and with a bit of enterprise level PR care, throughout the years that image changed a lot, and most Portuguese fans, unlike me, started to like him, and always catered to him after he became successful. There's no serious criticisim for his attitude as a person. Now that he wanes, it starts appearing here too as well. That's the sort of fans these guys get.

I think he's fake as shit, I was always impressed that so many just fall for his obviously hipocriticial attitudes. I'm particularly impressed that so many people in here thought he had special feelings for United, or that people here compliment him as "a great captain" - when I started watching football, there's no way a guy like Ronaldo would ever get near a captain armband, at any club. And people believe the crap other less successful players have to go on about how they all love working with him. Right.

He probably envies Bebe as ridiculous as that sounds. You just need to understand the type.

Disclaimer, I'm anti-patriotisms, so I tend to hate any collective obsessions of my countrymen. I certainly have a bias against Ronaldo. I disliked Figo too, for example, but just as an unlikeable typically arrogant rival, a lot easier to respect because he was a lot more natural.

The only thing separating this guy from the sorts of Trump or Musk is that his role in society makes him inconsequential compared to those psychos, but I see no differences in their poise, so he gets the same level of respect they get from me.

Mind, I'm talking about how he strikes me as a person. No football involved. By criticizing his "fans" I don't mean his football fans, I mean his personal fans.
so not that much difference from some of our players have scored against Liverpool (and them against us). I agree about Figo and you can probably add Zidane to the list too

 It really is nuts. Don't even know where to begin with posts like that. "So what if he called them Mcshit on live televsion, it's what redcockblock95 does all the time in the match day thread!".

No, he is attacking EtH and pretending he himself hasn't turned into shit.

If he only attacked Glazers, he would be a hero, but no he is attacking EtH, best manager we have had since Sir Alex, and pretending that Christiano himself is still great

Stop changing facts
Pretty funny this -- can't wait till something tangible happens to show he really is the best manager since Sir Alex.

So isn't this pretty comparable to the Keane infamous interview on MUTV? wasn't he "sacked or "terminated" for exact same kind of comments?
Keane wasn't sacked as such. It was, technically, a "mutual agreement" sort of thing.

I have no idea whether United could terminate Ronaldo's contract/employment due to this thing (I would think they are contemplating it, though, given the rumours that the legal department is looking into it) - but there is a difference from the Keane business in the sense that Keane's comments were made internally (they were made to MUTV exclusively).

Many people seem to think this is all thought out as a strategy. I get the feeling he is going a bit louco that after a lifetime of being the golden boy, he is that no more. The team, including his compatriots are on the side of the club and manager IMO and this must drive him even more up the wall, so the interview was a last cry of attention.

10 or 15 years from now Ronaldo will regret this and do one of those interviews where he admits a mistake and all is forgotten.

The greats never do go away in a respectful way do they? Ronaldo now, Messi at Barca, Zidane at internationals, Keane for us.. there must be some sort of major drama before the end. Going from mister perfect to just one of the players must be a major shock to the system and I can sort of empathise with that; they are human after all.

I am super proud of the team and the manager for keeping their focus while all of this was happening. If ever there were any doubts about ETHs ability to man manage, this puts an end to it. From young impressionable players, to experience (and even Ronaldo friends, like Casemiro and Varane) they all stood united and ignored the sad, end of the line temper tantrum that was happening.

What is wrong with him?

Desperately trying to get acknowledgement from anyone. Even Cancelo couldn’t give a shit about him.

I’m certain this interview hasn’t gone how Ronaldo thought it would go. It’s only going to get worse when it all comes out.

’Glazers bad’ Thank you for your keen insight there.
I don't know if Ronaldo should be credited with this, actually - but IF he added the bit about facilities and club culture deliberately, that was pretty shrewd.

Or, kinda shrewd. I mean, it obviously hasn't genuinely deflected from his comments about the manager. But it's something his insane followers can latch on to and highlight (rather than choosing to deal with the fact they're hero is a pathetic cock).

I think we have discovered a new religion: Cristianity.

The number of muppets that are willing to blindly follow this egocentric megalomaniac is mind-blowing. He has no loyalty to anyone, only for his own legacy. He could lay a steaming turd on the OT centre circle and Piers Morgan would release a statement about how Ronaldo feels betrayed by his bowels.

Based on what I've seen so far and the string of events, his concern for the club doesn't appear genuine. He has played poorly. He has acted badly in leaving the ground before the end of the Tottenham game. He tried to engineer a move away from Utd in the summer without finding a buyer he wanted to go to.

All this looks like is using genuine grievances fans have as cover to salt the earth and force Utd to pay him off.

So no, I don't feel hypocritical in finding this whole thing distasteful.

I think it is good that all this has come during a 6 week break. That way it will be overshadowed as soon as the World Cup starts and we won't have to hear it twice a week without end.

It also has to result in a new forward which will be an upgrade on the version of Ronaldo that we now have, had.

Trumpism and Cristianity are the new Hindusim and Christianity. And people thought those religions were bad.
