Cristiano Ronaldo: Set to leave by mutual agreement

Is Ronaldo justified to say that he “feels betrayed” by Manchester United?

Strange take, sure he was quite close with Benzema and Marcelo? He always seems to have army of teammates defending him too, although it’s hard to tell whether it’s out of admiration or friendship.
I doubt he classes Benzema as a friend seeing as he hasn’t even congratulated him on his Balon’Dor win.

Rio is a poor pundit. He talks like he’s in the playground. This is just embarrassing.
As for Carragher, he’s been right about Ronaldo from day one.

I’m intrigued to see what happens next with Ronaldo, starting at the World Cup. Let’s see how the Portugal manager handles him. We all know if he scores, his celebration will be some sort of dig at his critics, including Ten Haag and Utd.

Rio will defend him til the cows come home. He was a massive part of why Ronaldo re-signed for us in the first place.
I don't see what is wrong with that. Sometimes friends will defend you in public knowing you are wrong. Rio is his good mate and will continue to back him.

They both played together, won alot and to see your mate being one of the best in the world, you still have belief they can still play at a high level.

I'm not one to lecture people on what they should and shouldn't discuss but why the feck has this thread got well over 100 pages? We're playing Piers Morgan's game for him here. Ronaldo was a world class player worth accommodating in any squad, now he isn't and he's decided to create a media circus around himself that, barb at the Glazers notwithstanding, is not in the interests of this club, its current staff and its fans.

'If you don't like the thread, don't post', is fair advice but I'm absolutely sick of any and all news lines in the aftermath of a pretty cool last minute winner from a promising young player being dominated by this fecking horseshit. feck off Ronaldo, feck off Morgan.
I'd appreciate it if you didn't post negative comments about this thread in here, you're spoiling the mood.

What is wrong is that they are actively undermining the club and the manager. There is nothing wrong with it if you don't care about the club best interests otherwise it's a big issue.

Im not sure how to feel about this...

But he also have some points, United is not where it should be. The managers and players we had/have that actually have won things, all seem to be very critic on how the whole club is run.

And for us to suddenly rely on players like: Rashford, Martial, Fernandes and so on.... Players that never won a big league or a big cup. And a manager that never been in a top league or never won a top trophy.

While Ronaldo may not be the solution, im even more sure our current squad isnt the solution either.
One of the worst posts I’ve seen here.

Especially when there’s players at the club who have won multiple domestic and European titles and the World Cup.

Some of our ex players really ain’t coming out of this looking good are they? Speak so much nonsense.
It’s absolutely bizarre.

ETH knew in the Summer that Ronaldo was gonna miss 99% of pre-sesson for personal reasons. A nightmare for a new manager that when trying to get his style & system in place, but he accepts it.

He also knows Mendes at the same time is offering him all around Europe, ETH accepts that too and chooses to back him and tell press he plans with him. That’s him “respecting” the manager again I guess?

When Ronaldo finally shows up for pre-season he fecks off at HT. ETH once again sticks up for Ronaldo versus the press. Talk about “respect”.

When Ronaldo can’t find a club, ETH starts to integrate him, just as with Casemiro, a bonefide World Class player.

He plays 40 minutes in our opener and we lose to Brighton, he then starts him as early as our second game, and we get absolutely battered by Brentford.

After that ETH needs results, and he needs them now, he can’t afford waiting for Ronaldo to get up to scratch after missing pre season. We beat Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal on the bounce.
Why would ETH change things at that point?

We then get twatted by City and ETH says he wouldn’t put Ronaldo into that clusterfeck, then Ronaldo comes in v Everton and finally makes a contribution. This immediately signals ETH to start him again, and he plays terrible v Newcastle.
ETH decides Ronaldo still isn’t where he should be for a game vs. Spurs and is rewarded with the teams best performance in years.
“Respectful” Ronaldo who loves the club refuses to come on and fecks off.
Rather than think “look how much better we were at Spurs, feck this guy & his ego circus”, Erik suspends him for one game and repeatedly tells the press it’s a big miss for the team v Chelsea.
He then starts v West Ham, and captains us vs. Villa, then pretends he’s sick whilst he gives an interview to Morgan telling the World of ETH’s disrespect.

Despite his disrespect and constant undermining of ETH, he’s captained us & started 10 games, scoring just 3 goals.

Imagine a fan of Man Utd not know how to feel about this. How old are you?

Christ. All of our recent club legends bar Rooney are absolutely embarrassing pundits.

Even Keano.

Sad.
Surprised with Keane tbh.

Here's the guy who had and demanded such a high standard while he's playing and now he clearly can't see that Ronaldo standard had fallen so far to what is required by United.

Are you suggesting that Casemiro, Varane or De Gea won those big trophies? You are a liar. It just occurred to me that Casemiro and Varane also won some of those titles without Ronaldo.

Funny how you've listed players we rely on and you didn't mention two of most important players in the squad that have won everything.

Do any other ex players criticise their former club as much as ours do?
There was a time where some PSG legends did criticize the club but it was due to actual gross mismanagement and the fact they were ostracized for no reason while the club was a dumpster fire. During the Colony Capital era.

Worst part is they are undermining the manager every bit as much as the Ronaldo in doing so.

I'm unable to quote the media source from a couple of pages back but I think what Rio's trying to get at is that he has been through this experience when he left Man Utd at the end of 2014.

When he talks about communication, he's mentioned in the past that it took until after the last game of the season before Woodward & co bothered to tell him that he wasn't going to be kept on after his contract expired, and after all he'd been through wasn't given the courtesy to say goodbye to all the fans at OT, etc.

He's also been betrayed by Man Utd in that sense so probably feels empathetic with Ronaldo's current position having been through it himself.

I don't think anybody in their right mind is defending Ronaldo for doing this interview, but some of these guys have experiences with the clubs handling of situations that may give them a different perspective.

This is all spot on. annoying when you get people saying Ten Hag should communicate with him better and tell him how many games he'll play, it's simple if he played well he would of kept his place in the team even Mctominay was keeping Casemiro out the team because he was performing well and we were winning

Hold on, I am not condoning what Ronaldo has done for 1 second. I have said it and will say it again Ten Hag > any player.

He is the only one to bring any sort of discipline to this club.

If you actually go and watch the video, Rio doesn't back Ronaldo on what he has done, the interview and being disrespectful to the manager.

It's been clear to me listening to Keane on Sky over the last few months that he puts Ronaldo above ten Hag. This is the same Roy Keane that thought he was bigger than the manager and the club so he's going to stick up for Ronaldo when Ronaldo is doing something straight out of his playbook.

Rio and Evra won't criticize him because they don't want Ronaldo to fall out with them like he has with Rooney and Neville.

Yeah the Rio interview isn't really that bad. He was saying the club could maybe have done more to stop this happening, as Ronaldo was threatening to "tell the real story", so maybe they could have tried to nip that in the bud. I don't necessarily agree but he wasn't sticking up for Ronaldo.

Imagine being the most well known person on the planet and the only friends you have are Evra and Rio. And that's just because you need them for their approval.

Maybe they did and Ronaldo was hell bent on doing this anyway
