nah mines a different location, and I booked a cabin not a tent which hopefully might not be so bad.. but I’m expecting the worst now
I do know probably dozens of people going so worst case can probably sort myself out, those tents don’t look secure so really wouldn’t wanna stay in that
$220 billion spent and what you get is a caravan club without the caravan.
I love how they have lock for the zip, like no one can just cut through the tent with a normal knife and steal whatever they want to steal. Or worse, assault someone.
Sounds cool man, as long as you can take the heat. Worst case I think you might get one of those standing fans too (instead of real AC). It's quite a common 'sell trick'

Hope it's OK for you, @Tarrou. It's absolutely ridiculous that those people in plastic tents are paying so much money for a space with 2 single beds and communal bathroom facilities. It's even more ridiculous that the Qataris haven't even finished building the facilities.

Not really relevant, most people drink responsibly and were going on the promise beer would be served.

But removing freedom of choice isn't a problem, telling women they cannot go unless they are modestly dressed isn't a problem.

I imagine that the demographic of fans going to this World Cup will be quite different to others in the past and that most going will not be too bothered about alcohol.
Beer is still available in several places but it's hugely expensive anyway - no way I'm ever paying £12 for a pint of crappy Bud
But yes it is still poor treatment of matchgoing fans to change things at the last minute

Horrendous, look at our modestly that woman is being forced to dress and drinking beer. I agree with King, if you honestly can't go 3 hours without a beer then you do have a problem, in Euro 2016 they also banned beer during the tournament in some stadiums. That being said, I can understand the general annoyance about the U-turn a few days before the tournament but the hullabaloo about it is just general whinging.
The people in the video are living in Qatar though so they can't give an opinion on the fanzone accomodations, which do look horrible.

It's not a hullabaloo, it's about trust and freedom of choice, it's not about three hours. People have spent a lot of money and planned with friends etc. It may mean for some they stay in the fan zone for longer and not at the stadium, in other words they're killing atmosphere. Is that what the purchased?

The notion that fans are angry because they can't go without a beer around the stadium is ridiculously daft and stupid.
Anyone that uses this as an argument is a clown, King and evidently yourself included. It's more down to the fact that Qatar is shit small, there are already very few fan zones where one can have a beer and now they've reduced it further. Add to that the fact that the fan zones are in scorching heat in the day with feck all shade, its just daft to think the sole complaint is about beer not being available in stadia. This is before we consider how expensive the beverages are in the first place. Changing rules 2 days before the WC is about to kick off is the problem - if you can't see that there's something wrong with you.
They were already taking a piss, and they decided to just make it worse.
Exactly, I touched on this on the previous page. And this whole mess is extremely difficult to comprehend given the financial resources they have.
Like you said twelve years is very long time to put everything together to the T and apparently Infantino even moved to Qatar three years ago to make sure things go according to plan. This is their golden chance to show the world that despite all the negative press over the years, they could still (at the very least) put on a massive month-long party for everyone to enjoy and stick a big middle finger to the naysayers in the process. It seems that they've also blown their chance to change people's minds at this stage.

It's hilarious that a prominent attitude that has emerged is that anyone who wants to have a beer at the football is either an alcoholic or a riotous hooligan.
The issue is the U-Turns day before & the hypocrisy of the elites still being able to get drinks at the stadium.
I have no problem with the decision, if it was made years ago before fans made decisions to go & Sponsors getting onboard.

yeh, I get why people are pissed off. They wanna get drunk at the football. I’d be pissed off! The whole alcohol debate though is exposing our, quite frankly, ridiculous dependence on a horrendously damaging drug.
It's not necessarily about getting drunk. People can enjoy a beer or two without getting drunk, or having a dependency. Why is everything so insanely binary nowadays FFS.

I feel like it’s more we have to change the binge drinking culture. A few drinks isn’t really an issue but the style of alcohol consumption culture to culture, or country to country can be really different.
I can't believe you and King are missing the point. I don't care about alcohol at all. But it's the principle/idea you can change unilaterally a prior agreement, that's unacceptable. Especially when it's in stark contrast to the Brazil World Cup where FIFA forced Brazil to sell alcohol in the stadiums.
In a few of the videos, particularly the England and German one, you can see the same fan wearing the respective shirt in each video

They should be reimbursed the cost of that, an absolute joke.
I'm really laid back as a person, and I usually wouldn't kick off a fuss at most places, but £175 for a tent in the desert with a small fan and construction ongoing. Who thought that would be a good idea?
Heat exhaustion is still a risk, its still hot during the days I really think FIFA has to do something about that accommodation.

Seems much better to be out at night obviously, people partying hard. Still a fear that if things get a bit out of control and outside the fan zones then it could get messy.
I said right afterwards that I understand the frustration but I think the annoyance is a bit too much. I agree that forcing Brazil to break they laws was wrong and even for this WC rich corporate people are allowed to have it as well, which is hypocritical of Qatar/FIFA.
