Yes I did, he was at a club he did not want to be at and looked depressed playing every game.

I also saw him last season score 32 goals all season club and country and be second top scorer in England.

In a place where he feels happy I have no doubt you see a much better Ronaldo.
At some point you just need to accept the fact he's plateaued

I hope the club doesn't make the same mistake again, sign some older incredibly expensive star to sell more shirts. Allow the remaining players to develop instead and use the money to sign younger players who can deliver for many years.

Ultimately the right call.

Goodbye Ronnie. Absolutely gutted with how things ended. :(

Doubt there's any takers for him, wouldn't be surprised if he's going to regret his interview with that rat. At least we can finally move on.

Also nice that the social media accounts won't be flooded anymore by the entirety of the Middle-East claiming how shite of a manager ETH is. Finally he can play his preferred strikers for the rest of the season without having to defend himself every weekend.

Sad end to Ronnies association with the club, but best for both parties and kinda inevitable.
Look forward to the second half of the season hopefully being drama free other than ON the pitch!
This shouldn't be underestimated. After several years of it with Pogba, Lingard to lesser extent and more recently Ronaldo, it is very refreshing to have characters like Martinez and Eriksen instead.

Good riddance and I'm glad the club acted now rather than the day before he was due back for training. It's over, onwards and upwards.

Ducker and Wheeler reporting no pay-off for Ronaldo. Good stuff.

So glad he's gone. His insane arrogance and ego don't allow him to recognise his decline and accept his place in a squad. He could have offered us so much as a squad player with his winning mentality, inspirational dedication to fitness, and as a player to come on and score the winning goal or crucial equaliser when we've got teams pinned back and need someone to get on the end of chances in the last 15 minutes. Instead, he's tarnished his legacy.

Best decision for all parties involved.
I understand Ronaldo's side of the story, a legend of the game, a special player so yeah, I understand that he felt disrespected. You would also give Maradona special treatment and threat him differently.

However, I totally understand the club to release him because timing of the interview was awful and you just can't criticize your employer. Furtherore, I will always back the manager over the player: he makes the final decisions. The relationship between the manager and player wasn't ideal: a young aspiring manager, but still very green and a 5 times Ballon d'Or winner who's powers are waning. Of course they were having conflicting ambitions.

Good luck to you Ronnie.
Not sure that's a very accurate depiction of reality. Ten Hag is 52 and has been managing for ten years, although United is certainly his first shot at the big time.

Shame it's ended the way it did...he's always been a self obsessed nob but his ability no longer outweighs his nobbishness. Still the best I've seen at OT and one of the best ever, but has definitely tarnished his united legacy with how it's ended.

Think United lawyers had his balls in a vice personally, they could have made it ugly for him.

I think United could sue him for defamation if they really wanted with what he said about the club.
Agreed. I’d imagine the past few days have been spent by our lawyers explaining to Mendes that they’re wide open to lawsuits, and that a clean break with no payout and no legal action taken is a more than fair compromise for his client.

People already want to sign Kane. After Ibra, Cavani, Ronaldo, Ighalo you'd think we'd have a better appetite for something more long term sustainable.

Sporting, or any of the Portuguese teams. One of the French teams that isn't PSG. Any smaller team that wants to raise their profile really. He has options and I'm sure he'll play some CL football next season.
If he wants CL this season he'll struggle, is what I meant. Sporting aren't in it and face a huge fight to get in it for next season. I don't think he does have many options to be honest.

I wonder if there’s enough United fans going to unfollow him on Insta to get his followers back below 500k again? That would eat him up inside.
I don't think that's possible as that would means he would be losing 499.5M United fans in Instagram. We don't have that many there.

Fantastic news.

I am sorry, don't like it.
First, we wanted to leave, hence the lemonade interview and that is exactly what he got! I would have suspended him, no wages, until end of the season. Big "you can't do that" and f**k you to him and every other player who might behave like that.
Second, timing is horrible, he will play WC game soon, this will make him happy, he got what he wanted. Imagine prick scores and whole world talks shit about us how we destroyed "his majesty, God of football". Wish they kept him in the unknown so he can be worried about it and have shit WC.

Yes I know, I am horrible person, but can't help myself thinking we bend over big time.

I really hope you get him at Sporting. If he does end up there, I look forward to your assessment then.

Finally the team and Erik Ten Hag are free from this circus. Going against your new manager on public tv is absolutely disgusting behavior. HIs interview will age horribly.

I was as pumped as anyone when he came back, even though I knew we were not getting the Ronaldo of United or Real Madrid or even Juventus at this point. He did really well the first season but his ego is now larger than his ability.
