Hats off to Iran. Especially when you think what these players are going through mentally with everything that is going on politically back home. The very least they deserved. Only 2-0 but in reality should have been 6 or 7 and you can’t disagree with that.

Wales are a bunch of absolute bottle jobs. Shame as I wanted them to do well after a very long wait to qualify for a World Cup. I thought they’d give it their all in this World Cup but they’ve well & truly crumbled.

How can the person in the studio call this a sucker punch? Wales hardly showed any threat

Blimey Karim Ansafarad is playing - A gift from Olympiakos back in 2019 and scored once away at Hull. Moved on very quickly

Iran can probably get away with a draw against US to get through.
Yes you're right, was looking at goal difference but of course if US don't win v England which is very likely all Iran will need to do is be focused and play out a draw.

I'll certainly watch that over England-Wales which is going to be very one sided game.

Impressive that Wales qualified in the first place, they've looked actually abysmal

Are we still explain England‘s performance with Iran being the worst team?
I think this makes Englands performance more impressive. Iran aren’t as bad as the first match made them look.

Aww man this makes waking up at 5:30 in the morning for Wales vs England to be useless.

Waking up at 5:50 on a sat morning for England vs USA better be fecking worth it

Who would have thought that having part time players would cost Wales
Unfortunately, there's basically nobody else. Our second string guys are League One players. You need Bale there basically for set pieces/pens.

Leaving Ramsey on the pitch the whole time was just unforgiveable, though.

I always thought Wales would be in trouble in this game. Playing in midday heat in the desert with two or three 30+ players was never going to work out well

Wales back where they were in 2004. Have to move likes of Ramsey and Bale on now even if they'll be a short term hit as neither are good enough at this level anymore.

Disaster for Wales. Extremely stupid goalkeeping. Well done Iran. After taking a massive demoralising beating by England they came today prepared and gave their all. Well deserved victory at the end.

Morrell is league one but he started every game at the euros so not like he'd be completely out of his depth at this level surely?

They beat Ukraine and Austria after the groups.

Czech Republic
Belgium
Estonia
Belarus

That was the group. I believe they drew with Belgium in one game.
The seeding system was ridiculous with Portugal and Italy ending up in the same path and Wales having such an easy group…

Bale makes sense. Allen and Ramsay dont though.

I’m hoping we win tonight and then rest the first team. Probably a chance to play the likes of Walker coming back from injury and giving game time to Foden and Rashford.

They’re jumping for a ball the same way an outfield player does with the added advantage of being able to use their hand and apparently endanger the safety of their opponent while they’re at it. It’s bullshit.
It discourages people from jumping with you or into you. Makes claiming a high ball much easier once they see that knee they stay grounded.

If your going for a ball in the air in the box you should expect to get clattered by the keeper at some point.

What a performance by Iran. Completely dominated Wales. Wales were shite.
