Still on for not actually being the worst side in the tournament

God bless you, Qatar.

Falls on his arse and the ball is on it's way to his keeper, but then his arm diverts the ball onto the scorer

Quite possible that Qatar could get knocked out with 0 points and 0 goals

What's the worst for the host ever? I don’t think any had even lost their opening game
South Africa was the only other host not to get out of their group I believe, but even they drew their opening game.

Great victory for Iran, now hopefully England beat the USA and Iran and the USA can fight it out for a draw and Wales beat England to go through.

He doesn't step away from the ball. If he isn't tackled there he still has an opportunity to shoot with his left foot (especially since the defender has backed off)

He does, and drags his left leg. He’s got no intention of shooting. The Senegal defender is clumsy and it could be given, but for me it’s cheating.

Going to be gutting if we don't get "a goal for all of Arabia".

I am really only dicking about. It's about jumping technique.

Players going for a header are going for the ball in a different way, they don't need to use a knee up as it would actually make it harder to jump effectively for the ball and generate power.

Keepers need to bring their knee up when jumping for a high ball not for protection, but because when they are jumping vertically for a the ball it's a natural body movement and helps with the power in the jump. You can't jump effectively for a high ball straight up 8 feet in the air with both legs straight down. Raising the knee also means if someone does jump into you, you're less likely to be knocked off balance and lose control of the ball in the air.

What Hennessy did was different, even if he got the ball, he probably should still be sent off.
That’s fair enough but maybe we should accept that if a keeper can’t jump for a ball without putting an opponent in danger then maybe they should not be allowed to.

Qatar's attacker seems to be doing the basics right, rest of the team is just poor.

South Africa were the only ones to not make the knockouts. But they drew their opening game
Yeah, even beat France and got 4 points. Zero would be quite an achievement. Didn't even get unlucky with the draw

Jet fuel doesn't melt steel beams
:lol:Looking back at the reaction in here it seems I'm the only one who thought Hennessey should've just had a yellow. Was reckless, but minimal contact and not a clear goalscoring chance.
Can't say I'll be sad if Wales go out though, given how dire they've been to watch.

Defo could have been more difficult. They even have Netherlands last who you would think would be qualified by then

Technically it was a red. Keeping fairness in mind ref's initial decision of being bit lenient was correct until VAR intervened.

You're arguing as if he ran away ten yards from the ball to put himself in front of the defender. If he hadn't been tackled he would've had a clean left-footed shot still. He put his body between the ball and defender to force the defender to make a decision (ie cutting across him).
He had the option of a left-foot shot, but he opted to try and win a penalty instead. That is clear because he would have shot instead of lunging to the right and collapsing into the Senegal defender. It was silly of him not to take the shot on as his run and first touch put him into the perfect position.
