Klinsmann is a fecking moron, what is he talking about?

"...in their culture to cheat, lucky they had a Guatemalan referee..."

Racist prick
He's saying that about the Wales game? I can't even guess what he's on about, and I'm Welsh and watched the whole thing.

The ref was a bit dodgy, but you expect that from some of the quality of the officiating in the other games. Didn't get any big decision wrong.

Huh? I don’t follow.

Surely the best chance you have now is for England to win and have nothing to play for in the final match?
What’s hard to understand? English fans arrogance makes it easy to laugh when they fail.

I’d laugh if usa beat them tonight and I’ll laugh if they get knocked out in a knockout (at the arrogant fans).

I’m gutted with how wales played today, it was a massive dissapoinment but some comments I’ve read just make me think urch.

Out of Wales's hands now. They need England to beat USA by a big goal margin and then hope that Iran lose to USA and beat England. Tough call. They're pretty much eliminated now unless England goes out of their way to do a favour for them. 2nd probably goes to Iran now if USA loses which I expect them to and Iran just need a draw on the final match day.
In way simpler terms Wales need a draw tonight. Then it's entirely in their own hands, beat England and they're through.

Feet up at home.
Iran constantly pushed the aggression without going over the top - it helped win them the game got no problem with that.

Would have been proud of the Welsh players if it were the other way around.

Iran were brilliant.

A bit more composure, a bit more luck and you win that about 5-0.

Congrats!
Thanks mate! This team has been given a terrible time by the people accusing them of being obedient to the regime . Immense psychological pressure. So happy for them to get what they deserved.

I was a kid back then and was living in Yugoslavia, but I do remember very well that Iran managed to beat USA in "our" group at WC 1998. is this their first match since then? they were probably the worst teams there, now it could actually be a decent match for various reasons.
I remember that game in 1998, back then I lived in place filled with people from Iran or of Persian descent, it was a joyful day for them.

I don't think it is arrogant to acknowledge that England are the dominant team in that group

Yeah, I saw it the same way. Can't even guess what Klinsmann is going on about there.

Would have been nice to have a bit of bite in our midfield instead of watching Ramsey and then Allen doing less than nowt.

No, a draw would be out of Wales's hands too. USA would be on 2 points and if they beat Iran, they are through no matter what Wales does.

What an end to that match. Iran were brilliantly and fully deserved that result. Delighted for them

Taremi is a great player. One of the best players in the Portuguese league. Unfortunately with his age I doubt he will get a move to a top club (no offense to Porto, you know what I mean)

Didn't see much diving in this game apart from the Welsh player who got the Iranian player suspended for the next match. Maybe he is referring to when Hennessey barely touched that striker:wenger:

Heard that he was a late bloomer as well.

Kinda mixed feelings on this. Seems an awful lot of Iranians wanted their football team to fail as they are representing the powers that be.
They are representing the country though? A country is much more than their leaders / politicians.

I thought Iranian team as per their captain's comment is representing people and not the regime.

I was delighted to see Wales lose to Iran to be honest.

All part of the fun.

Klinsman moaning about teams cheating with how he used to dive is funny too.

I hope the Iranian people enjoyed that win, it was for them and not the regime.

Does Klansmann (sure) have some sort of history as US coach against Iran? Really weird comments to make after a match like this, almost sounds like he has some sort of pre-existing grudge.

Nah, you're alright. We're fecked now. At least England losing would cheer me up, as unlikely as it is.

Almost felt sorry for you guys too!

Can’t understand wanting England to lose more than your own country to qualify for the knockouts.

Quite bitter. Anyway I hope we can do you a favour and both sides go through.

That sounds like a plan. Hope a watering hole of some kind is easily accessible over there. You deserve it after going all that way to watch that shite. :(

I know what it does. It would discouraged people from jumping with a striker if they were allowed to do it but they aren’t.
I am really only dicking about. It's about jumping technique.

Players going for a header are going for the ball in a different way, they don't need to use a knee up as it would actually make it harder to jump effectively for the ball and generate power.

Keepers need to bring their knee up when jumping for a high ball not for protection, but because when they are jumping vertically for a the ball it's a natural body movement and helps with the power in the jump. You can't jump effectively for a high ball straight up 8 feet in the air with both legs straight down. Raising the knee also means if someone does jump into you, you're less likely to be knocked off balance and lose control of the ball in the air.

What Hennessy did was different, even if he got the ball, he probably should still be sent off.

Yeah, I can't argue with this. We have a resident Iranian here who has patiently explained the nuances in various posts. I do think feeling sorry for the players is a sentiment shared by everyone, though. Just look at the way they sang the anthem. It really looked like they were forced into doing it.

They've basically spoken out against the powers that be though haven't they?

Yeah, the lad spent too much time in iran and that 1 year stint at Qatar before making his European move, but to be honest he really did take a huge leap in quality when moved to Portugal, was never that clinical for perspolis.

English fans arrogance
What arrogance is that then? Maybe the sun newspaper but any English fans I know are quite level headed about our chances. The footballs coming home thing is obviously a joke. I thought everyone was in on that by now!

I didn’t say I’d rather England lose than us progress.
I’m ok with whatever result tonight. Wales will need to get something against England whatever, for all we know the pressure on England needing something in the final game could play into Welsh hands.

its the commesnt like “can’t wait to dunk these out next week” as if it’s a given is what I find arrogant and then funny when England fail.

nice of you to want us both to qualify
