Argentina skating on really thiiiiin ice: not only flat and boring like pampas, also without a proper target man upfront.

Argentina should make some changes at half time this isn't working. Maybe put Messi as CF and take off Latauro for more creative players like Dybala and Alvarez. Would also be tempted to bring someone like Palacios on who can pass between the lines.

You know when Utd fans were continually frustrated at Fred and McT starting year after year. This is why, quality of midfield options is garbage at the moment in the world game.

Good progression there by McAllister

Argies really need De Paul to stop giving the ball away every time he gets it

Ref whistled for half time because the ball went to De Paul

Messi isn’t in his explosive prime, he hasn’t got the ability to make something out of nothing for this team anymore. But even if he was, he wouldn’t be able to bail them out of every match so they’d be knocked out by the first decent team they meet in the KOs.

Give over. He was even announcing them in the correct order, the keeper and the whole backline were all Kims.

Could probably do the same with a Welsh rugby team and Jones/Williams.
It was an Alan Partridge quote!

it's not that I watched 100 games of him, but I always thought of Lautaro as a player similar to Tevez, energetic, fast, keeps defenders busy. but he plays like Koller/Inzaghi again. ghost.

Messi could play deeper in midfield. Argentina lack a pay maker on the ball and he has no acceleration to be in the forward line anyways.

What is Lautaro supposed to be good at?

it's a bit funny how Messi has a spezific area and he is just walking in it
I think he has gone on strike.

Seriously, what was good about this team was they all took care of their respective jobs and areas of the pitch and worked towards putting it on a plate for Messi around the semicircle outside the box. He would take it from there.

We are now going back to "Oi, Lio, you need to drop down to midfield and dribble your way past 3-4 players" and he is having none of it

Argentina should try to get Dybala on in the 2nd half, he has been good for Roma this season despite the injuries.

That was a horrific half of football. If Argentina get knocked out tonight, then well deserved & good riddance as they look honking.

Dont watch Argentina enough to commentate but my observations would be

- Bin Di Maria, you can't carry both him and Messi. Aside from Lautaro there's no pace, get Correa on to stretch the game and dribble at players

- Bin De Paul. He's in horrible form. Anyone that can pass 10 metres forward is an upgrade

So he’ll play still when he’s 39?
No way, he isn't obsessed with individual records like Ronaldo

This is his last World Cup for sure, dude has no leg already at 35, no way he extends his career with 4 more years of this, Ronaldo is more cynical about being washed, he doesn't care about playing well as long as he scores a tap in.
