Pleasantly surprised by this team, much better than expected. Playing some fun, energetic and direct football.

US midfield is so good (relative to US teams anyway). Dominating, and finally an end product. Both FB's have been very good as well.

Don't mess this up by parking the bus in the 2nd.

Thanks! We're actually fun to watch.
Yes you are. I've enjoyed USA matches so far. Just the finishing and sometimes the decision making that annoys me.

They'd better keep Pulisic on a bike at HT to keep heat in that leg....no doubt he got some sort of dead leg on that

Something need to be done about the offside rule as a whole. The intent wasn't to prevent cm decisions, it was to stop teams from parking forwards at the 6 yard box and hoofing it. But it was turned into this defensive tactic that was never intended.

Not complaining about Weah's particular call, since that is the current standard, just wish there was a better way to enforce it while giving the attacking player the benefit.

So many chances created, so lacking in finishing. Very good overall though. Second half is going to be an anxiety fest.

My fear is the US going with 1-0 to the final minutes. You know how that usually works

Another great half from the US.

Very dominant performance so far and such a shame that 2nd goal was disallowed as you fully deserved a two goal lead.

i know it's a bit old school but back when they changed the back pass rule that a keeper couldn't pick up the ball, the offside rule was considered a blatant offside....if there was doubt the benefit went to the attacking team

problem now....there is too much money ridding on these matches in league play, world cups , CL's....

Wait WHAT???? did you just throw some nice shade towards GB?
Yep. I have no problem admitting when he does good shit. I mea culpa'ed myself after England. Although I will say this gameplan has no likeness at all to the shit we played in WCQ.

they've been good in 5 of the 6 halves so far....hopefully they learned from the second half against Wales that you need to score the second but more importantly you need to possess the ball and it's OK to go long from time to time which can help kill the game off

It a very harsh offside call.

But it’s set up nice now with Iran finally forced to get out, take more risks… This will give spaces and you need to take advantage of them.

Someone posted it in the Day thread but I was about to post here that my fear is that GB tightens up and throws on his tough MLS boys to shore things up if it stays 1-0. I hope we get as second so he can get Adams and/or McKennie off to protect against yellow.

Personally, although I'd probably choose not to have VAR - once it is used, I'm happy enough with the line decisions like goalline and offsides.

It's the subjective calls for handball, penalties, etc, that it's being used too much for. The line calls, no matter how tight, I'm fine with technology working out rather than the onfield officials guessing.

"Well, tactically, we just felt Jordan's tenacity would be better than (insert better player currently playing in Europe)."

You can just envision it.

it's a double sword....Morris would give you better defensive work rate than say Aarronson or Reyna but they are both better on the ball

Sargent got trucked and no foul from behind....

Pulisic off at half for Aaronson

He does. Also, Adams vission/passing/dribbling is light years ahead of where it was a year ago.

It's been a great performance so far, but I wish Robinson would cut out the heavy touches, and Weah stop running the ball out of play.

Actually a good sub. McKennie was tiring and is on a yellow. The problem with the Pulisic injury is only one more sub window.

Didn't Pulisic go off at HT?

If so, that doesn't count as one of the three sub windows.
