So Argentina will have to beat Netherlands and potentially Brazil to get to the finals.

Imagine if Argentina then lose in the final again.
Against Portugal and Ronaldo on penalty shootouts with Messi missing the crucial one and Ronaldo scoring the winning one?

Some on here would actually commit suicide if that happened.

Argentina, such a bunch of cheating tw”ts, FIFA refs fall for it every time and there’s no sign of anything changing here.

Ankara Messi :D

We all knew and believed Messi was the greatest.

On a serious note, Ronaldo’s decline is nowhere near Messi’s decline.
Sorry chief, Ronaldo is barely a footballer these days. Messi's level has now reached human levels.

Argentina will stomp us
Based on what... Not that Netherlands have been massively impressive, but Argentina have been incredibly underwhelming both in possession, chance creation but also in defence. They just look... Meh. An average team with some good players, who look like they struggle with the pressure and just look to Messi who just can't do it all alone anymore

It’ll be a different game to what we’ve seen today from your game vs USA and this now

People saying Holland will fancy their chances. But I think this Argentina side will rise to the bigger challenge

It promises to be a good game I think. Neither outcome will shock me but I’d still say Argentina might edge it (sorry too say)

Aus were comfortable there as well and 2 moments of daftness by the lb cost them
It was so stupid and unnecessary. Australia were in control, Argentina (and Messi in particular) were playing like they were asleep, and then this idiot tries to show he's some sort of hard man going up against the GOAT. Would be livid with him if I was a teammate.

Huh? Messi has been amazing this season.
I love Messi, but 98% of those great games were in Ligue 1 with PSG.

He has been mediocre in the UCL against decent teams that can compete with PSG, and i don't see PSG winning the UCL this season either, he will probably leave as he doesn't have to prove anything anymore.

The calmness to wait for that defender to open up his stance to try and block and disrupt the vision of the goalie. You could see him waiting for it in slow mo.

Whether you pull for Arg or not it’s good to see moments of class like that from top players.

The difference between Ronaldo and Messi at this stage in their international careers: Including Messi gives Argentina a shot. Including Ronaldo gives Portugal's opponents a shot.

Its fun watching two rivals (Messi and Ronaldo) in this WC. One is main man in his team and helping that team every game. Other one is the worst player of his team

I think my post got lost in translation. I meant Ronaldo has declined massively more than Messi has.

Ronaldo is also two (?) years older, not exactly meaningless at their age

That’s what I mean. Ronaldo has genuinely and visibly declined. Messi is still a top quality player.
Oh ok, that’s fine, your wording was a little backwards.

in fairness Ronaldo is two years older. He was still banging them in at 35. Messi is the GOAT though.

What do you mean by that?
I mean Ronaldo is actually finished whereas Messi is still elite level.

They are both often talked about as if they are both at the end. Messi could still perform at this level for at least 2/3 more years.

With their lack of wingers, Argentina should go for a back 3 and WBs. Would help get Martinez in and push the fullbacks forward
