Can’t think of one reason as to why he’d pick Chelsea if I’m honest
All debates about club status aside, I'm sure they'll likely offer the best financial package to the family.

I had heard they offered Omari Hutchinson about 7 times what Arsenal had offered him as an example, and he's not really high profile.

Pretty much sums them up, they signed three brothers up because one of the brothers had massive potential while the other two were nothing special (think they've done this on more than one occasion too).

I'm not sure if the Chelsea money would sway things with Endrick though as he and his parents are guaranteed to be seriously well paid after this move.

The only report I can find on Omari Hutchinson's salary at Chelsea is £14K/wk and according to the same report his first contract was a £2K/wk deal at Arsenal.

So yeah, that would put it at roughly 7 times more than the first pro deal he signed when he turned 17 but surely he'd have got a lot more than the same £2K/wk last summer at Arsenal too if he'd stayed? He'd already been promoted to train with the Arsenal first team squad for the second half of 21/22 season and even made the bench in the EPL a bunch of times so despite not making his debut yet I don't think there was ever any scenario where he signgs for the same terms as his first professional contract whether it was at Arsenal or another club. It's very likely Chelsea lured him with more money than Arsenal offered him for the extension but I call bullshit on the factor of 7.

Either way Hutchinson was a very low money and low risk move for Chelsea. A free transfer signing on a three year contract at £14K/wk plus any undisclosed signing bonuses still puts the total package around £3M at the very most for the whole contract duration. If he proves to be good enough to play for Chelsea that cost is nothing and even if he doesn't then the club can try to sell him in 2024 for more than the salary costs. Worst case scenario he fails to make any impact, leaves on a free in 2025 and we get nothing but even then the loss is basically a drop in the ocean.

Haven't watched the academy games this season but apparently Omari has been very good. In the last few games before the WC break he was on the bench for the first team and has been a part of the training camp now that the first team training has gotten back underway with the players not in Qatar. Could even make his first team debut sometime soon when the season continues. Good chance for him to impress Potter with the likes of Mount, Havertz, Pulisic, Ziyech all still away and the last two probably being on the chopping block for the January window.

I had heard Arsenal offered him £3k-£4k a week, but Omari wanted closer to first team wages (probably because he knew he could get them at Chelsea) and Chelsea offered him that chance. Perhaps you are right, perhaps it was the x7 of existing salary and I just picked it up wrong.

They do play a part but I don’t see how that favours Chelsea given how poor in the transfer market they have been?

Players care about all kinds of things. I mean even as silly as it sounds would you rather play in front of 75k people each week at Old Trafford or 39k at the Bridge? It’s a no brainer.
He’s 16. Our stadium expansion and renovation would done by the time he was 19 or 20 at latest. Chelsea also averages highest monetary amount per visitor of any team in the PL from the last time the figures were tallied in 2019, and one of the highest match day income averages overall even with the smaller capacity. The common theme of “empty Chelsea” just isn’t true .

If crowd size is the deciding factor though he’ll go Berbabeau.

I don’t see the concern with our transfers though. Vivell and Co. are already on the ground and working things for us from what I understand. Shields and others moving in slowly. Fofana looked very good pre injury. Keeping Chalobah against Tuchels recommendation and re-extending him was great. Koulibaliy (a Tuchel demand) has had a tough time adapting, but primarily because he requires a real DM in front of him. Tuchel told us we didn’t need one, but now that will be addressed.

These kids care about who is talked about. We have signed some very top targets. Whether they turned out to be as good as advertised (Kai Havertz) is another story. But just as important, we are continually mentioned in the top two or three of MOST top targets. That sticks in the mind of younger players.

Cucurella is talented and getting up to speed. Nkunku pre agreement is done. We have an official meeting scheduled with Gvardiol and his people the day after the World Cup.

I do t particularly want Rice … but I think there is a chance the other football people we have brought in feel similarly. Rumor is that could be sticking point for Mount in the contract talks as well, which wouldnt break my heart. But we are apparently looking at targets like Fernandez in addition to the Santos kid and a revisit of Edson in January.

Aubamayang was a Tuchel demand, and that will sort itself out. Clearlake spent nearly 300 m just getting rid of players s d bad contracts when they bought the Dodgers. Being willing to spend to get the project on the right track now that the right people are in is nothing new to them.

I could actually see KK moving in next year as well. A group of Gvardiol/Colwill on the left footed side Fofana/Chalobah on the right wouldn’t shock me.

There is actual optimism Zahkaryan can get his citizenship changed and complete a January move.

This team was put together by a very impulsive and Random autocrat and like 5 different managers. It was built around several genuinely unique players like Kante you cant exactly replicate, even in style. It was always going to take time to fix it correctly, and that’s ok.

Another Summer purchase from Inters Academy, Casadei has been tremendous in U23 action and could see some call ups soon.

I’m VERY optimistic about United’s project, but only if the Glazers sell. They are considered one of the worst owners in the NFL, which is a paint by numbers ownership experience where the league disgusted nearly everything. And that only got worse after it went to a 6 way split. Only two of the kids even care that the sport exists, but they all want equal say in what happens to the money. The saving grace is that they Are not particularly young, and discussions have apparently come up about how grandchildren would factor in eventually …. of all things. I think they see the writing on the wall that this might be a golden window.Their “ownership group” is untenable, and I think they realize that. They also need cash. Apparently they are not happy with how much was spent in the Summer. Most of their “wealth” is tied up in assets. Old Trafford needs serious work apparently, including holes in some of the roof sections? And the borrowing rate is going to get horrendous.

As big a club as you are, owners that must rely on club generated money only will have a diminishing return in the modern game. You NEED better backing, and a modern internal structure.

Just trying to counter the OTT Boehly fans here.

The balance of the universe needs restoring.

On a serious note though I don’t particularly see why Chelsea would beat a City, United or Liverpool to his signing? Other than the age old London thing that gets thrown around.

Fair enough, I hear you.

Well as a fan of United, I can see why you would look at things from a very particular perspective. The truth is kids pick all kinds of teams for all kinds of reasons all the time. If Chelsea really do the best job of selling a project to him and his family, then yes there's every reason he would pick Chelsea ahead other top English teams.

It's kind of a futile debate though, as I've believed all along that he'll end up choosing Barca or Real Madrid.

Yeah the only place I've seen 'Chelsea offered 7 times more than Arsenal offered' is in silly Arsenal twitter threads and messageboards.

Hes 16... and not got an Eu Passport so he cant sign for a couple of years anyway can he?

I think you have to be 18 years old to apply for a UK work visa as well

So most probably we have 2 years of stories linking us and everybody else to moves that cant happen before at 18 he joins Madrid or Barca

He can agree to a deal with a club but not officially move to foreign club until he’s 18. The discussion is around which club he’ll agree to join when he’s 18. We all know he staying at his current club for the next years no matter what.

There hasn't been strong links to either of the other teams though and they all have their priorities. I definitely can't see United entering the fray, dropping that kind of money for a player that is not likely to be in a position to excel in a league like the premiership for at least 2-4 years.

Chelsea fans were getting hyped about this kid.

As United fans we've learnt this a long time ago but might as well repeat it again. If you're after a South American and your competition is Real Madrid/Barcelona, might as well give up, unless he's Ecuadorian then he's coming to United....

GARNACHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

The best of the lot.
I like Garnacho but if he does fulfil his potential and Real Madrid are after him, he's gone....

In terms of prestige and attractiveness of a club Real Madrid is number 1, let's be real. We are up there but below Madrid in terms of attractiveness to the best talents in the world.

60 million on a 16 year old is an insane gamble.

He could be the next big thing or he could equally become another Kerlon or Barbosa,

Then you pap him off to some English team with deep pockets for £30M-£40M who think it's just Real holding him back and he'd be worth the gamble.

Who was getting hyped?

With the exception of perhaps one member on here, hasn't pretty much every Chelsea fan on this forum (and no doubt elsewhere too) thought this kid is not really worth getting excited over because he'll very likely end up at one of the Spanish top2 anyway?

If anything I'm just encouraged by the fact we even threw our hat in the ring and made an honest effort to sign the boy because to me as a fan that shows the club have some ambition. Like yu said, going up against Real Madrid and/or Barca for a South American player is only ever going to end up one way but there are plenty of fish in the sea and if the club show a bit of ambition and willingness to go for some of the highest rated young talents in the world we're still bound to land some gems eventually, even if it means we've also missed out on a few.

For sure.

60 million is just a ton of money to spend on potential, Real are generally pretty patient with their young signings, I couldn't see an English team wanting to spend 60mill without an instant return.
Just a gamble on someone so young.

It's a gamble. If it turns out to be successful, people will say "oh that was smart". Otherwise it will be a "I told you so, too much money for a kid".

The outline of this is, you are taking these gambles because that's the strategy that suits you and the circumstances in European football at the moment.

If you don't spot them early it's impossible to get them. 60 million euros is not a huge amount.

Real Madrid spend more than 120 million euros on Hazard and more than 60 million euros on Jovic. Both supposed to give instant success turned out to be shit.

The strategy of buying young has turned out to be succesful for RM in recent years.

Vini, Odegaard, Rodrygo, Velverde, Camavinga, Militao all turned out to be good players. Odegaard wanted to move on and is doing decently for Arsenal. There are obviously failures as well as its impossible to get all transfers right.

Well considering Madrid's recent success in buying highly rated youngsters from Brazil (Vini and rodrygo), you can't blame them for going for Endrick who's definitely more highly rated than both.

I know all that, but 60mill is still a huge amount, no matter which team it is!

He's 16 years old, he could get injured and never be the same, he might have a late growth spurt and end up losing some of his balance and poise, he might not be able to handle the weight of 60mill euros on his shoulders.

It's a lot, and he's 16, it's an insane amount of money.

We spent similar amounts on Vini and Rodrygo and a bit less on Reinier. The success of the first two, and the obvious hype and talent of this kid, meant we were never going to shy away from it. The only possible deal-breaker was the anti-Haaland clause he demanded
