Netherlands can all but guarantee a European world cup winner again. So many people will be salty again.

I said good things about this ref, but he has caused a lot of this mess. Argentina look mentally shot and it was largely their own doing. Incredibly silly souls and just completely stopped playing. That freekick though - amazing. Rarely see things like that work and to do it in that situation...just wow.

That freekick was genius. Absolutley stunning to even attempt that let alone in those circumstances.

Croatia are the winners, at this rate they will face half of either team with the way everything is kicking off

That Dutch freekick was a thing of beauty. Really well worked that took the Argentinians totally by surprise.

LVG: If Messi won't show us if he can do it on a windy night in Stoke, we'll bring Stoke to him!

Otamendi always an accident waiting to happen.

Also, this referee is a joker, loves his whistle. Ruins every game I've seen him do.

Still going for an Argentina win. Cannot fathom both Brazil and Argentina leaving on the same day...

The beauty of the Dutch of all teams resorting to Stoke tactics is something else. Football is a simple game. Brilliant drama.

We watch these basics of football all the time in the league football so I'm not sure why it is something so difficult for some people to understand that others could have a wish to see something different at a tournament that happens once every 4 years.
So what, are we saying that teams should set themselves up to attack with everyone at the world cup even if it means they lose??

I don't understand your reasoning here?

Teams play to their strengths, or at least they should, so not sure where you're going with this?!

Netherlands need to substitute the booked players and keep aggressive.

It's rattled Argentina.

You do wonder why more teams never tried that against Barca
Because Barca had a much better and more importantly, confident team to just play out of it, even if it didn't always work. Outside of Messi and a couple others, these are reasonably panicky... as shown, like 3 times in this tournament now.

This is the best World Cup ever
The group stage started slow but the entertainment has been increasing and the play off have been bonkers. So yeah, probably this is on the road to become the best ever

Holy shit. The balls to do that free kick
Seriously. In the 100th minute of a World Cup quarter-final, at 2-1 down. Who would even dare try something like that? They deserve to go through for that alone.

Di Maria to come on surely? Argentina need another attacking outlet.

That has to be one of the greatest set pieces ever. Last minute, going out of a world cup in a great shooting position and you pass it to a player in the wall
