Just playing devils advocate here. But the circus of photographers that would have been around him I can forgive him for going off. The build up to the tournament has been a circus and the sooner he goes the better.
And who was responsible for that circus? Also him walking down the tunnel is not something we haven't seen before. That behavior is inexcusable and he deserves all the stick

I don’t even feel like laughing at him anymore tbh.

It’s become quite that sad that he’s clearly struggling to cope with his football career coming to an end.

Those tears were not because his country won’t be lifting the World Cup this year, those tears are because he won’t ever be lifting the World Cup.

He has ever right to cry after that defeat but he should have been out there with the rest of his team.

Feel conflicted… glad that Ronaldo’s out of the tournament, but disappointed to see by far the better footballing side go out, again.

Portugal were really wasteful in the last 20 minutes, they should’ve scored. But for me, I always want the side who’s actually played football to win.
Morocco were the better team in the first half and scored a deserved goal (it was nothing like Croatia last night whose midfield sort of controlled the tempo of the game but were utterly toothless up front). I was also conflicted as to who I wanted to progress, Portugal for the sake of the United guys or Morocco for the fun factor and likeableness. In the end the better team on the day won.

The guys got an airport named after him. His whole career is built around him rather than the team.

Same. I kind of feel bad for laughing at him because I have supported him all this time. He scored goals for us first time around and then last year.

I dont know why he had to do that idiotic interview and burn the bridges. Why couldn't he keep his ego in check? It's all come down to a sad ending.

I actually think Portugal will be many neutral people's favorite team in next tournaments now that Ronaldo is going to retire (hopefully).

I do recall EURO 2000, they were amazing and had some really good players and great characters. I really disliked this Ronaldo version of Portugal, even though nobody can deny that they achieved a lot with him.

Poundland Brazil, even slower and less direct… which is a shame because many players are elite and in their prime.

I actually would love to see you guys win a WC some day but it's better if it happens once Ronaldo is retired. I just wouldn't be able to take the smugness of Ronaldo fans if he would ever be part of a team winning the WC.
I get it, I'm not a fan myself and I know enough fanboys to know they would be unbearable.

Ronaldo is an utterly unsympathetic character.

I am very happy that the possibility of him - somehow, not by still being a great or even somewhat serviceable top level football player (he isn't that anymore) - winning the World Cup is now gone.

Ronaldo is a massive failure when it comes to the World Cup.

Played in 5 editions and never scored a knockout goal let alone made it to/won a World Cup final

All time great player, but he simply can’t be the GOAT with this fact.
He never had a chance to win the World Cup playing for such a poor country his whole career.

However I do agree he should have manage one KO goal at least granted he’s played on average of one KO game a tournament because Portugal have only made it passes the R16 3x in their history.

I won't laugh at him. I'm disappointed, though, when he left the field so early. He is an ambassador for the sport and he should stay on the pitch with his team and congratulate the Morocco players. They clearly wanted to give their best to him and he just left.

Does any player that could be considered to be in the top 10 of all-time have a worse legacy at World Cups than Ronaldo? Apart from the likes of Di Stefano or Best that never played in it.

Nope. Zidane, Pele, R9, Cruyff, Maradona, Puskas, Beckenbauer have all had World Cup moments even if some of them have never won it. CR7 has a group stage hattrick against Spain and a goal against North Korea.
