As I said earlier, I have laughed at England a lot. It used to be funny. Their media can be and was really annoying especially during late 2000's to mid 2010's. But I really don't see the humor in it anymore. This team is a pretty down to earth and likeable one. The English fans in general are more pessimistic than they should be. They have a team full of exciting talent who give it their all.
And again, I would get laughing at England if this was some banana slip loss to a smaller side or penalties where they miss every penalty they get but they just played an incredible game against France. It went till the last minute and I thought they were the better side.
But then again these things can be irrational. I know I'm gonna be laughing my ass off in the Argentina thread if they lose!
If we lose an 8th Quarter final can we combine all of the ¼ to make it 2 finals?

You never won anything without Southgate, what has remained consistent however is immediately blaming managers for failing to deliver some apparently predestined trophy. Maybe, just maybe the English players while very good aren't quite on the level that the media have hyped them to be.

Actually a little sad that I cried my eyes out in 96 and 98 when England went out, to now being gleeful when they go out.

Actually way better. This is probably the best performance against a big nation in a competitive match since France in 2004...England lost that game 2-1 as well but were by far the superior team that day. Weird parallel actually as Becks missed a pen and France were pretty much bossed. Zidane won it for them.
It came at England's expense though, so it's entirely different.
