I can’t post on the general forum and since I posted my message earlier on here it’s probably the best place to put it. I’m sorry for worrying anyone with my earlier post. I was and still am in a way in a desperate place. I had nobody to talk to so reached out on here. I have been in contact with the police and my family are with me. I’m going to get the help I need. If it wasn’t for the people on here who reached out things may have ended differently. Thank you.
best wishes
Hope you are okay

I don't even think that they were naive. If England wins there is nothing to complain about, they played well enough.
When I say "naive", it's more about game management, and about winning the "moments", which France did. England may have dominated large parts of the second half, but they didn't have that much to show for it.

Also, they lack "ce petit peu de vice" which is often the difference between good teams and great ones - which this crop of French nationals clearly are. They make the right fouls at the right moments, without being shithouses, and manage the game well.

That's true, your point makes sense.

But how many other countries press do you or I see? You can speak to france and I can't, but I'm taking a pretty good guess that most have their rags like the scum and mail.
Argentina has its fair share of scumbag journalists to be fair.

Surprised to see people who I've seen dish it out over the years to Scousers, Arsenal fans , Chelsea fans etc be so soft when it comes to criticism of their national side.

It’s called passion. You hate the footballer( usually because of the team) not the actual person. I have an hatred for Harry Kane but if he joined Utd I would probably love him. Loving a person you don’t know is a bit weird too. Football brings out weird emotions. Doesn’t mean you are some sort of sociopath so get off your moral high ground
Nah.

I never understood how someone can hate a bloke for doing his job, which actually is kicking a ball. Dislike, yes, but hatred? What's wrong with you people?

Personally I think going for the win would have just allowed Mbappe and Griezmann to pick us off, and then the same people would be saying how tactically naive Southgate was.

We were the better looking team, there wasn’t really any need to change things up earlier. Bringing Sterling on rather than Rashford was a pretty odd decision, though.

I don't think people literally mean they hate a football when say it (or at least I like to hope they don't).

I usually think it means they can't stand them or that they would prefer if they lose etc.

Hate is definitely excessive, certainly with how bland and inoffensive most players are in the modern game. I do harbour a strong disliking for select people like Gerrard, however.

Red zone being a bit confusing switching from Bills v Jets to Eagles v Giants when both games seem to have the same uniforms

I really don't mind piss taking. It's part of the sport. One thing I do think opposition fans get wrong, though is when they harp on about the state of english media. As if, it's some special english trait!

All countries media is one eyed and jingoistic! It's stupid, but it's the nature of the beast.
I think the problem is because the UK has 4 home nations. Other countries have totally biased media but no one else cares.
Our problem is the bias is all England so the rest of us sit stewing.
I get that England is by far the largest but when the tournaments come around, the other nations barely get a look in even when they qualify. I listen to Talksport when working and Wales barely got a mention. Even when they do, its usually some condescending piss take by Simon Jordan etc. Was the same at the Euros with Scotland.
I totally understand that English fans don't get our frustration, In Scotland, its the same with non Rangers and Celtic fans but that is why we blame the media.

So you're keeping tabs on the media of how many different countries?

Key word right there. There's a reason why there's two different words to describe two different feelings.

Ok Professor Snowflake
I'm certainly feeling a dislike for you right now. I'm not sure if it's intense yet.

I agree with this. The 4 nations as one makes us unique in sport. As you say, england are by far the largest audience out of the 4 home nations, and because of this they are the only chance of ever winning a WC or Euro. So, it's understandable about why it happens, at least.

If england ever do win anything you'll have to turn the telly off for a week!

but what if they have a real arsehole face? Like Suarez….is it ok if we hate arsehole face Suarez? I mean it helps that he is a scumbag…but his face does it for me.

We lost because Harry missed a penalty, that can happen to anyone. Think there has been real progress with this side, he has brought in a lot of young players that will be the basis of England's side for years. There is no disgrace losing to the World Champions. Also we behaved we some dignity not like foul mouthed idiots moaning about referees when we would have been justified.
Even if Harry scores you still probably lose; it’s a bit like Henri and ireland. Getting level is great, but…

I don't. It's called common sense, though.
You think it's common sense that media is the same everywhere? Like it couldn't be (heavily) affected by national history and culture?

Faces are really important.
I think that's why I hate dislike Kane, the big droopy faced git. Same with Darwin Nunez though obviously playing for Liverpool doesnt help

Know they divide opinion on here but want to say huge thanks to McKola and Howson for their brutal honesty about Southgate.

There is no doubt he has brought a team spirit to this country and made people proud to represent it again. However he has taken this team as far as he can now.

Someone has gotta open his eyes to this and it certainly won't be the media or ex players turned pundits who are in his back pocket. Quite frankly our only hope is his wife tells him time to walk away with head held high.

Hmmm, dunno, I think they had a better bench than France. If it went to extra time they could have shaded it.

Suarez doesn't have an arsehole face, he's just an unlikable areshole who bites off more than he can chew

Shame manager is found wanting yet again, just like he was against CROATIA and ITALY as well.
