He was brought in as a statement signing, showing the world that city could attract star players (if they threw enough cash in their direction).
I know I was replying to someone saying city didn’t make statement signings

Don’t want him anywhere near us. He’s had so many chances to leave and now he’s 30 this year, injury record can’t be trusted, price tag will be astronomical and seems to be declining fast.

Spend the extra and go for Vlahovic or Osimhen.
Kane has played 89 out of spurs last 92 premier league games. He's missed 3 games since 2020. His fitness record looks good from where I'm sitting.

Yeah I thought about him but he was nowhere near as big as Kane is right now
I don’t know like, he was signed for a British record from Real Madrid and was tipped to be the next world star

Newcastle would of signed just nobody wanted to sign for them with not being in the champions league

but you’re right on not wanting owners who only like shiny new things
They signed very well after that and built a team, he was supposed to be the jewel

He will definitely have suitors at 70m. The 1 year left thing is more important to Spurs than it is any prospective buyers, and 70m is not a huge transfer fee any more.
Fair enough. Which clubs do you reckon then will definitely want to spend £70m on a 30 year old striker with just 1 year left? I think the likes of PSG, Bayern and Madrid would just wait a year.

Yeah I think that's the point, even Newcastle are signing well considering they're not in the Champions League. There's a lot of investment off the field which helps overall.

I don't think United need a statement signing, it's what the Glazers have tried to do at times. The club and the new owners needs to help build a team

We need the right, next gen players. Harry will decline soon no need to spend crazy money
Why are people expecting Kane to decline soon? We have two very similar comparators in Lewandowski and Benzema in the age bracket just above him. How have they done between 30-35?

Also Barca paid £40 million for a 34 year old Lewandowski with 12 months left on his contract. I’ve no doubt that £50-£60 million is the going rate for a 30 year old Kane with 12 months left. Levy will be desperate to sell on the summer so I think a deal at £50 million is doable.

I think all of the obvious candidates will look at it. Top class strikers are at a premium right now. Casemiro is the same age and we paid a similar amount for him. The only difference is the 1 year left thing, but again that's more important to Spurs than it is to buyers. 1 year is a long time in football.

I've said it a couple of times in here but he's so easy to mark once you deny him the space to control the game from deep. He's still a great finisher so will score goals but he doesn't get nearly as many chances as he should because he's not mobile enough to get himself in dangerous position.

Avoid at all costs and spend the money on a younger and more dynamic player.

Agree with everything except for the fees. I think it would be closer to 100 million. I thought it was sure deal for United this summer but with Chelsea under new management and Real failing to sign Mbappe, they might be in picture to sign him.
He is better than Martial, has decent link-up play and very good finisher. We need to win trophies and he might be the last piece of the puzzle. If he can get 2-3 good seasons that would justify the price. We can buy a good young striker but there is no guarantee he would blend in the team and start delivering but Kane would do well with us I feel.

Wrong type of owners then. I don't think City or Newcastle automatically made big-name signings like that without giving thought to the team.
Short memories - City has made quite a lot of them.

Newcastle owners just came in . So just wait. 30m for Woods, 70m for Isak doesn't seem to be really that smart though.

Ah didn't realize his contract is up in 2024. I don't think he is sold this summer though unless he pushes to leave, and then he'd only be sold to a foreign club IMO. Could see Bayern go for him for example and get him for a reasonable fee this summer just so Levy doesn't have to sell to the Prem. Otherwise we would have a chance to get him on 2023 for like 60m when he has 1 year left on his deal and if he forces a move to us. Other than that... He'll stay. Levy would rather sell to United, City or Liverpool than Chelsea or Arsenal, City has Haaland and Liverpool have Darwin so the only Prem club is United. Foreign clubs, Madrid have Benzema, Barca have Lewa, and I don't think he'd go to PSG... So it's Bayern this summer, or United in 2023, or staying at Spurs as his realistic options. I'd give it 60% stay, 25% go to Bayern, 15% sign for United in 2023 as the odds for him.

Edit: I'm in the wrong year, he has 1 year left this summer, ok it's on. If Spurs don't get CL this season, he is off. Looking very likely. I think it's between United and Bayern, but that depends on if Bayern wants to spend what is needed, and what Kane's wishes are. If we finish strongly, we could show to Kane that he could be the missing link. And to be honest, he would be absolutely perfect to our attack. Someone who can be a target man but also link up and drop deep to play Rashford in behind. Do it.

With him, we are serious title challenger.
But no way he comes here next summer. Bayern will be all over him

He'll want that record, won't he. Will almost certainly catch Shearer if he doesn't leave England.

I know spurs fans can be quite delusional but he genuinely has been in that Lewandowski/Benzema bracket of the very best strikers ever since he hit peak form.

I don't understand him. Being your club's legend, captain, best goalcorer and shit is great. But when you finish your career, you want to have some medals and trophies in your cabinet. Right? If i was him, i would be demanding transfer next summer.

He tried to do so last year but that idiotic long term contracts of his prevented it, shame levy is such a stubborn cnut, I'd doubt we could ever land kane.

He gets to always be fondly remembered by spurs fans as a legend which is consolation prize i suppose, also He could still win a national terophy yet.

He made an obvious error in signing a long term contract last time but it did look as though Spurs might be genuine contenders for titles for a while. There’s absolutely no way he is renewing this time though. He will be looking to move this summer and he’s off on a free in 2024 if not. He will either end with the premier league record and hopefully some trophies with us or guaranteed league titles at Bayern/Madrid. He won’t end his career at Spurs.

If he doesn’t sign a new contract Spurs will have to sell him next summer, there’s no way Levy will let him walk on a free. Which leaves Utd or Newcastle as the only realistic options ….whoever is in the top 4 may decide it, although I’m sure he’d prefer Utd.

He won‘t want to go to Bayern….. feck’s sake he can hardly speak English let alone German.

Whatever he does, he better get a proper agent. Poor cnut will end up sweeping the stands if he leaves it to his brother again.

I don't see him going to Germany at all. There are only really two places he could go as far as I can see - United or Chelsea (or Newcastle if they qualify for the Champions League).

Absolutely no chance Levy accepts that. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I'm just telling you that Levy won't accept a penny less than he feels Kane is worth.
The point is, Levy doesn't hold the power any more. You missed your chance to get big money for him.

If Kane turns round to Levy in the summer and says I want a move to Manchester United. You either make it happen now or I'll join them for free next summer, then Kane will go for around 30 to 40 million.

Nah, that's too low. Levy would definitely hold him for an extra year and let him go for free. I expect it'd take 60m for him to start thinking about it.

Honestly think Levy would keep him until his contract runs out rather than sell him for less than he thinks he is worth. One year more of Kane is worth more to the club than a cut price deal would be.

It is worth more if the club think it is probably that he can be the difference for Spurs to get CL-football. Adding Newcastle to top seven, I dont think that is the case anymore.

RVP who had one superb season, then quickly dropped off a cliff?
His first season was arguably his best ever PL season.

In his second season he still scored 18 goals in 28 games.

He didn’t decline anywhere near as badly as made out. It’s simply due to the association with the Moyes season it’s over dramatised.

waiting for everyone else to catch up!!
Kane screwed himself signing that long term deal, and Levy will price him out of any move before it ends.

I don't see longevity in Kane. He is painfully slow right now, and doesn't have the dynamism or close control of a Lewa/Benzema to make up for it.

I don't see anybody spending huge on him this summer.

Haven't read too much of this thread, but absolutely think we should go all-in for Kane. I see no issue with having a spine of our team aged 28-31 or so (Varane, Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno, Kane) as long as we are buying the right younger players to come in as well.

That group of real quality and experience above will be huge in getting this side over the line in terms of winning trophies and getting consistent European football.

It will depend on how things go with Spurs. If you'd have asked me a month ago I'd probably have said that the most likely scenario is that Conte and Kane sign new deals. However, now I'm not so sure... And if one of them is deciding to leave, I'd be putting my money on them both going.

I'd be surprised if Kane chose Chelsea or Arsenal unless he's dead-set on living in London. There's no way he goes to City or Liverpool now with what they've invested in forwards. So, I think it would be a shootout between ourselves and Newcastle if Kane is going to leave. Champions League football and long-term plan will be a factor, but I think with new ownership we would be favourites if he decides to move for more chance of a trophy.

However, it does depend if Kane is the kind of player EtH wants. I don't see why he wouldn't be as he is a world class striker. We can always buy some 21-22 year old prospect and eventually sell Martial. If we want to compete and we can get a world class striker for a bargain price I'd say go for it. Even at about £70m~ I'd say it's a good deal if we can get good prices for some of the players we are shifting. We can raise that money from sales and still have the usual transfer budget for the other players we need IMO.

Hard yes on Kane if we can do it.
