Yes. We want him just because he has a good touch.

The hyperbole in this thread, fecking hell
Yes, it was hyperbole but you should get the gist of it. There's nothing he can do that Worg might not be able to do in such a short time period.

I am more happy with a proper number 9 with a good height and ability to hold the ball well, than someone who might probably be better in Bruno's role and might or might not get used to the team, club, or the league.

The might and might not point goes for Weghorst as much as it does for Felix.

I agree Weghorst brings something Felix doesn't but I reject the notion that his position is Brunos role only. He's 21 and has his career ahead of him, with bags of quality. I would be excited to see what Ten Hag would mould with him.

Most people wanting Felix would like him in addition to Weghorst.

This guy need to have no fee attached.
Just pay his wages for the rest of the season and be able to send him straight back if he's terrible.
If Atletico don't agree to that then fine, we move on.

We need someone who can deliver now in a 6 months loan. Can't people just understand the situation. We dont have time to see him flourish in 6 months. Plus, he is not a a number 9.

Who says he can't deliver straight away? And he's not a 9 for Atleticos style for sure. In terms of a false 9 role for Ten Hag he can be perfect. Him plus Weghorst gives us both options.

Sorta torn regarding Felix. I love the aesthetics of the way he plays which makes me want to see him play for United but not entirely sure where and how he'll fit in here. If given the choice of Harry Kane and Joao Felix in the summer for the same fee, I'm siding with Kane at the moment.

There's not much ten hag would do in four months of football because if he comes, it might be a deadline day deal. Then you have Feb, March, April, May.I do not feel that he is a player that if we don't buy him, we will miss out on top 4.

Also Weghorst has played in the premier league, is dutch and will be able to sync up with ten hag, plus has shown eagerness to join which all bodes well so if a less risky option.

Shows an awful lot of frustration. I understand he probably wants out, but so much whining and gesturing ain't gonna help. And personally, something I don't like to see in a player.
Did you watch him for Portugal in the World Cup? Far more effective, far less whiney.

What does him being Dutch have to do with anything? We used to have weird obsession with English players, now it is all about Dutch? Ten Hag's best player right now is English (Rashford) and his Dutch forward Antony is doing pretty badly

He played half a season in EPL, 20 games, only 2 goals and one assist. That is pretty horrible for a striker. You make him sound like he is Dutch Harry Kane

Last one in this thread as this one is for Felix.

I meant from a language perspective as they are both Dutch.

Also we do not need a Harry Kane. We cannot afford one. So we seem to have gone for a decent option who can be a backup for martial or take over his number 9 role. Be there in the box for crosses, hold the ball and use his height to win the ball.

He is right now the best option in terms of cost and availability for us for the number 9 role.

Yeah, I generally love the player, he is class on the ball and would be very pleased if we grab him. Just an observation from tonight. Even if he had a fallout with Simeone and is frustrated with the way Atletico play he should cut it out a bit. He is still on their payroll.

Overall, if I ignore my inner muppet and try to think rationally I would like him here on a loan with an option to buy, not obligation if possible.

Dutch forward Anthony? Then I guess his Dutch CB Lisandro is doing pretty well.

Why not we just do a player swap with Atlético with Sancho and Felix. They are both young and equally talented anyway, but somehow just didn’t quite work for their respective club. Maybe we could also add an extra 10-15m too to show our good will on it.

It's a big assumption to think that they'd be interested in Sancho or if he'd want to go there

Sancho would not fare well under Simeone's style. Do people pay attention?

We should keep in mind that ETH knows how to coach individuals and not just manage a squad.

ETH has worked magic with Rashford and improved Martial (though Martial is starting to regress again), improved Bruno, improved Shaw as well as De Gea. You could even say he’s improved Fred.

Does that mean that ETH will obviously improve Felix? Not necessarily, but we shouldn’t rule out the possibility either.

Yes but one could always try. We are stuck with a player we don’t want, but highly rated elsewhere. And they are in similar situation too. We are both struggling to recoup fair amount of fees we’ve invested on the players.

Personally I also think Sancho would do better in La Liga, while Felix would do better under ETH.

Maybe we do want the player, that's why club and manager are doing something extra to bring him to his best level, by giving him special programs.

Yes and he is the only player under ETH who needs a special program. I mean come on, do you really think he would stand a chance to start over Rashford (our best attacker) or Antony (ETH favorite son)? Well I do really hope he could regain his form, but he is clearly lagging behind from the others.

If we get Weghorst, does this mean this deal is dead due to the two loans only restriction of the PL? Or does the potential Felix loan not count because he's from a different league?

I've barely seen mention of this point.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

Good point. I think most have forgotten that rule. Felix would count.

'Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.'

So with us loaning Butland, we can only loan one more player. Unless we don't register Butland for the PL, but what would be the point of signing him if that were the case.

Edit: Ignore this post, I didn't read it properly. Felix wouldn't count as he's from a different league. That page is directly speaking about loans from other English clubs.

But the info you've linked pretty clearly says Felix wouldn't count

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2022/23 there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.
Fulham currently have 4 players on loan (Duffy - Brighton, James - Leeds, Kurzawa - PSG, Solomon - Shaktar). As long as only 2 are from English teams, it's still fine.

Think you are allowed two domestically so Felix would be classed as a different league, however looks unlikely Atletico will get the loan fee they want.

Felix is more a second striker, #10 or a winger than a #9, but wouldn't compete with Weghorst.
We do need a striker more than we need a AM, LW, RW, SS though. We have plenty of options there.

I think the point on this forum is to discuss these sort of things. None of us really know what the regulations on each point are.

However; I saw someone retweet United Stand tweeting this and this is where it gets a bit tricky, a page with so many followers, without even reading up on what the rule says is a bit foolish.

How do we have "plenty if options"?

The only quality #10 we have is Bruno
The only quality, senior left winger we have is Rashford
With Sancho uncertain, the only quality senior RW we have is Antony, and even he needs competition because he's been on a goal draught.

None of them can play every game coming at us, with the crazy schedule. And we have no depth. We need a forward that can play multiple positions.

We do have a #9, Martial. We are not bringing a 30year old from Besiktas to bench Martial. Ideally we need a player that can cover multiple positions in the front line. We can start thinking about a dedicated striker in the Summer, if we have money to address several positions.

Yeah it was dumb considering the amount of followers they have. Runs a poor narrative, when the research shows it to not be true.

We're missing depth in every area of our forward line with perhaps the exception being on the left. Our schedule is madness and rotation is required which we simply can't do right now due to the lack of options. We're in four competitions! Madness that any United fan thinks we dont need depth.

Goldbridge tends to double-check these things usually and if not, he never goes in 100% explicitly.

The guy running their Twitter page is different and appears as much of a Muppet as the rest of us, so yeah, that's a feck-up.

It's what happens when people tend to think of football in terms of Fifa instead of real life with the limitations of actual human beings.

We aren't really, it's just up top. It becomes a different/tougher issue to manage when you have a case like Sancho where he isn't available for whatever reason for now.

If he is, then we have Rashford/Garnacho for LW, Sancho/Antony for RW (and Sancho can play LW or #10 too), and then it's just Martial up top. Really you only ever just need 2 players per position, and by that logic, we are only short of a striker. Weghorst will come in and keep Rashford wide, so we'll have then 2 worthy players in each of the positions and not have to think about Elanga ever coming in really. I guess #10 with VdB injured, but 7 players for the front 4 positions isn't bad.
