Who owns the club? It's their asset and their money. No ifs and buts about it. We might not like it but it is what it is.
I’m pretty sure owning it doesn’t automatically make it their money? Aren’t they still on the stock market?

@Smores

United apparently discussed this move with Burnley at the EFL match last year.
Apparently doing a lot of lifting there I'd imagine. If we'd had a long standing plan the agreements would already have been in place.

It is what it is, some need to imagine everything is a well executed plan I know the drill. We only accept the truth in retrospect when/if things go sour.

He is a piece you need and Ten Hag will get it soon imho… you could just give Ten Hag the sporting director role, he is a fantastic facilitator.

You suggested this has all happened this week. It hasn’t.

The truth is we are operating within a tight budget due to the expected Q1 sale.

It’s clear those at the club knew this before us and our plans have had to be adjusted in terms of this change.

Some only want to think the worst. I get it. That’s why we keep having to hear that Casemiro was a panic buy after the Brentford game even when it’s been confirmed he’d already agreed to join before that and United had spoken with him near the Super Cup final.

I disagree

If they don't even have enough in the pot to take their dividends, there is no way they'd allow United to spend that same amount on transfers. If there *was* the £20m odd in the club going spare, the Glazers would have had it rather than allow United to buy a half decent striker with it
That’s how I see it, it takes a lot for the glazers to not take their cut. There’s no money. No magic tree that’s gonna grow us 50m for a new striker. No money down the back of the sofa, there’s very little left in the piggy bank and they ain’t gonna go to the credit union again

Not aimed at you ash, thanks for posting

But i'm sick of Romano. Not convinced he has any genuine sources for anything United do. Yesterday he said he wouldn't rule out a Felix to United loan when in real life behind the scenes Felix, United, Atletico and Chelsea all knew the player was going to Chelsea. Not isolated either. He gets caught out a lot but it's always overlooked because he says positive things.
The way it works is these journalists have the scoop on one big transfer or one big contact and then live off of that till they can.

In Romanos case for a summer he struck some gold but since then he’s just as clueless as us and I mean that.

His whole plane of action:

1) wait for rumors to start circulating heavily about a player

2) start posting the usual nonesense tweets that can mean anything like “talks underway”. “Possibility to sign” . “Looking at player X”

3) if enough sources say it’s a done deal post a “here we go”

Rinse and repeat

We just need for him to do his job till the end of the season. Afterwards, if he performs well, he can be a good sub we can utilize. It's these kinds of shrewd deals that we've been missing for some time.

Of course it is, they can manage this the way they want. The Glazers have allowed this spending of their assets and credit. They own us hence it being their money.
Wrong. The Glazers have never spent a penny of their own money on United. It’s all money the club generates, including the grotesque amounts spent servicing the owners debt.

United spent the last 6 months working on identifying a move that relies on Burnley and Besiktas wanting to do us a favour.

We are bottom percentile for planning surely, in the world of football.

Every decision maker deserves sacking there for this. Could cost us a chance of a trophy.

I actually like Weghorst and he would've only been loaned out due to his wages I bet. They'd want him back if they go up.

But to not have players and clubs lines up for moves before the window started when you're in the position we're in is poor again.
No one could have predicted how the Ronaldo situation unfolded. The club should not be blamed here.

Considering the circumstances, I know no money/very little money is available so I am more than happy to see WW coming in. Certainly a better fit than Depay, or that Cameroonian lad we were linked too. WW will fit ETH brief at least.

fans need to realise that no corporate entity will spend money when a takeover is being sought. I’ve been through 3, you can’t even get sign off for a packet of pencils. So people can spin how they like but it’s just not gonna happen.
Liverpool literally just signed Gakpo.

They spent nearly £300 million of their own money on the acquisition.

Seems you’ve completely ignored the huge amount of debt and leveraged buyout piece. The glazers are shit, not sure what you’re trying to argue.

i get a kick out of everyone bashing the glazers as being skint...the club has spent a shit ton of money on players and transfers over the years and never really put any sort of financial shackles on reinforcing the squad. You guys can be pissed about the debt, i get that, but it's not the glazers you should be pissed at but the incompetent idiots who actually handle our transfers. They're the ones who fuking wasted money buying shitty ass players for stupid sums of money.

That he has himself pictured with a phone to his ear is hilarious. He ripped off a story from an Andy Mitten article the other week, and when it was pointed out, he claimed to be unaware. We're supposed to believe he's got this network of spies out there, he couldn't even correctly source a story from a fellow journalist.

We are looking for a striker not wide forwards, which striker is out there for a decent fee in the Jan window? With the uncertainty of the club sale and heavy spending in the summer, its no surprise we are looking for a loan with further assessment in the summer.
Moukoko seems to be available for 20M.

Edit: My comment was in reply to someone saying company's up for sale do not spend.

It's the Glazers who hired those idiots.

1) transfers funded out of club funds and revenue, not the Glazers putting anything in.
2) The Glazers hired and protected the ‘incompetent idiots’. The buck stops with them and always has/will until they are gone.

The fact we are looking at signing a striker on loan who, with all due respect, is nowhere near close to being good enough says it all about how this club is run.

It's almost a tribute act to the heady days of Ed Woodward and Ole bringing in Ighalo who scored a total of zero PL goals for us in 12 appearances.

Let's be honest if this was Liverpool signing him we would be pissing ourselves laughing.

Technically not correct...David Gill hired Woodward and when he retired, Woodward was promoted. The worse promotion in Manchester United history.
Yep - a promotion made by the Glazers so the end point is still the same. Glazers suck.

It's the Glazers that put him there and the Glazers who kept him there so long.

It is the owners of the club who sanction all of this spending, and it was they who appointed a banker to make football decisions. Yes, Woodward squandered the money, but who kept employing him season after season? We're only without him now because he left on his own accord. Avram, Joel and Gwildor are massively at fault and rightly criticised.

That said, I've no complaints about not spending in January. We maxed out the credit card in the summer. Better we wait for the right player in the summer than spunk money we don't have on what's available now.

I don't think this is a Caf-approved narrative. Read the damn memo!

What's the latest on this, we're still negotiating the break fee I assume? All I recall is Romano saying fresh set of talks today(?)

The funniest part of this whole WW transfer story is Wesley Sneijder's jealousy that WW is going to play for United, whilst he, despite about 3 million pages on redcafe, never got the opportunity. He is absolutely seething. I'm just waiting to hear FDJ's thoughts....

Glazers are shit but i never didn't understand that phrase "they are spending club's money"?
They are owners of this club so club money=Glazers money. Instead paying 80 mil for Antony or Maguire they could have leave that money in club and pay it to themselves through dividends. No?

They bought the club through debt. Hardly money went out of their own pockets in order to buy the club.

Just spoke to Gaitan's gardener and apparently he's livid.

What's your alternative plan? Bear in mind we overspent in the summer, there is no money left, the club is up for sale and the owners have all but checked out.
