I don’t remember Roy Hodgsons spell as manager?!!You’re thinking about Wayne Wooney. ‘Welease Wayne Wooney!’
Didn't he want to leave the previous summer, when we failed to get the top 4.No one could have predicted how the Ronaldo situation unfolded. The club should not be blamed here.
It has nothing to do with us not signing Mbappe and everything to do with us not signing any long-term striker option since Lukaku left in 2019.Give me a break. We love to criticize our club for everything as if every other club is meticulously planned making no mistakes. Chelsea just got scammed with Feliz. Pool paid 100m for Nunez, City are dropping more points than last year.
Some ridiculous views because we're not signing Mbappe
Don't fool yourself, if we had a January transfer budget we wouldn't go anywhere near him. He will score a goal here and there, but there's no way he'll be a "great signing"Good, a big cnut of a player who desperately wants to join us is exactly what we need. If he puts on his German scoring boots this could become a great signing.
Eh, I doubt ETH will hand out long term contracts to players over 30. Most of the competent clubs don't do that as a matter of principle. He'd probably take a 1 or 1+1 anyway. I think he'd come if he had to clean the toilets with his bare hands.Ofcourse he is. Never in his wildest dreams did he think a major move like this would be on the cards, especially when he's 30.
If he's a success he could also earn himself a longterm contract at the club.
To be fair, we were always signing stop gaps because we were bringing in Greenwood as the long term option there. We needed goals NOW without hindering his minutes and development. No one saw Greenwoods situation coming.Instead we've spent that time cycling between a 30 year old Ighalo, a 33 year old Cavani and a 36 year old Ronaldo on shorter term deals. And one of the consequences of failing to address that problem position in any sort of long term way is that we have once again been caught short and need to make yet another temporary signing to tide us over.
You would need to be stupid beyond belief to seriously compare that failure in squad building to Man City signing Erling Haaland and happening to drop more points than they did in their previous title winning season.
Yeah we would have looked elsewhere there's no doubt about that, however now we are in this crap situation there is a need to get a move on with this deal. Have got a ridiculous amount of games coming up and attacking options off bench is Garnacho which is unfair pressure on the kidDon't fool yourself, if we had a January transfer budget we wouldn't go anywhere near him. Great if true. Definitely the type of player I'd want to play for us. He'd be a very good deal for us I reckon. Have some very positive feeling about this.Tweet

Greenwood is only now 21 years old. Even if he hadn't gone awry there's zero guarantee he'd be ready to perform as a top class CF. Or that CF would be his best position rather than RW. Or that he wouldn't have stalled in development in the way that many other young talents do. Beyond that, Martial has done little to suggest he should ideally still be at United in favour of another quality CF signing that could have been made in that time.To be fair, we were always signing stop gaps because we were bringing in Greenwood as the long term option there. If we had him in our attacking group now, we wouldn't be searching for players. (Imagine a front line of Rashford, Martial, Sancho, Greenwood, Antony, and Garnacho. WOW!)
True but at least it gave us another bench optionGreenwood is only now 21 years old. Even if he hadn't gone awry there's zero guarantee he'd be ready to perform as a top class CF. If they deliberately sought short-term CF options for that reason then that is also inept squad building.
The problem is with all this wranging involved he probably won't be here until post ArsenalCall me crazy but i have some strange feeling that he will be huge success for us.
The failure is Oles. A more competent manager would not have left us in the hole.It has nothing to do with us not signing Mbappe and everything to do with us not signing any long-term striker option since Lukaku left in 2019.

Literally nothing suggests there’s any reason it’ll take that long. The problem is with all this wranging involved he probably won't be here until post Arsenal
Alright maybe post Palace if we are very lucky.Wish we could have got it agreed today and got him on a plane tomorrow because desperately needed him for Saturday.Literally nothing suggests there’s any reason it’ll take that long.
An impact sub that will put his body on the line and run all night long? whats to dislike.Call me crazy but i have some strange feeling that he will be huge success for us.
This is the exact problem with United's way of doing things. We say 6 months loan, but it will be end of JAN probably by the time he comes in.The problem is with all this wranging involved he probably won't be here until post Arsenal
Last paragraph absolutely nails it and is exactly why I am dreading facing City and Arsenal in next two weekends. This is the exact problem with United's way of doing things. We say 6 months loan, but it will be end of JAN probably by the time he comes in.
So you have Feb,March, April and by mid May the season is over. Just over 3 and a half months. Do not care what he does here in June.
He has to come, settle, understand the way ten hag wants him to play, get opportunities.
He should have been identified and should have been here by now. It's been 10 days since the window opened.
Plenty of competent managers before and since Ole have relied on Martial. The failure is Oles. A more competent manager would not have left us in the hole.
Arnautovic is actually technically sound. He displays shades of Ibra from time to timeIt's like signing Arnautovic without actually signing Arnautovic
We would have signed him had his past not been so chequered with controversial statementsIt's like signing Arnautovic without actually signing Arnautovic
So is that saying you aren't keen, bit confusedIt's like signing Arnautovic without actually signing Arnautovic
Totally understand but problem is we just don't have the time to take over itIt’s undoubtedly a hard deal in fairness, if besiktas have a 10m option to buy, Burnley have no recall option and we have to deal with three other parties. We struggle only dealing with one other club. He’s basically a besiktas player so I can see why it’s taking time.
Expect something could be announced later this eveningWe would have signed him had his past not been so chequered with controversial statements
haha nah not really keen, but he fits the type of profile of striker we need so... why the hell not I guessSo is that saying you aren't keen, bit confused
Arnautovic is currently Serie A second joint top scorer with Lautaro and Mbala Nzola. The Serie A had seen better days but its still better then the Turkish league. It's like signing Arnautovic without actually signing Arnautovic
Arnautovic isn't a bad player, as croadyman said it's just that he's got too much of a chequered historyArnautovic is currently Serie A second joint top scorer with Lautaro and Mbala Nzola. The Serie A had seen better days but its still better then the Turkish league.
I was feeling that until it started dragging outhaha nah not really keen, but he fits the type of profile of striker we need so... why the hell not I guess
Why did he have to behave like such a pratArnautovic is currently Serie A second joint top scorer with Lautaro and Mbala Nzola. The Serie A had seen better days but its still better then the Turkish league.
not the thread for it I know but you are looking at it backwards. Greenwood did nothing to suggest he was not going to be every bit a Man Utd player. The guy was superb and answered every question asked of him at all levels. Had he not have been a criminal, he would have saved us €50/60 million - no doubt about that.Greenwood is only now 21 years old. Yeah honestly still think we would have gone for Kane if opportunity presented itself, however wouldn't be scrambling around now after missing out on Erik's targetsnot the thread for it I know but you are looking at it backwards. He might win the FA Cup for us in June!Do not care what he does here in June.
