People said we'd be screwed without Jesus, so it's not really luck. Quite easy to downplay that now.

White injured, Tomi comes in.
Zinchenko injured, Tierney comes in.

CB injured, Tomi would come in, but now we have a 25m CB.

The biggest issue was Saka and Partey. Saka how has Trossard.

Partey is a big issue though.
You lot have been excellent, you got momentum early on with some of the fixtures then just kept it going.

Every team however needs luck. For example going to Brighton and having their whole midfield missing in that 4-2 win was quite a good element of luck.
Having to face us, then the palace game gets rescheduled for us and then casemiro getting booked to miss this game is an element of luck.

Not having to play city at all yet (which a loss would make things closer or could change momentum is of course luck)

But You don't win a 38 game season purely on luck. As said your team deserves to be where they are, have played some excellent football, have a good spirit (when conceding) and have a trio of excellent footballers in saka, odegaard and martinelli.

If we don’t take at least 3 points from city we won’t win the title. I’m not convinced yet and it’s still far too early.
You don't need to, 2 points maintains the distance with them and means you've played most of your toughest matches with a healthy gap. It will require city to be near perfect and undefeated whilst trying to go for the champions League

I think Cas would have made the game more competitive than it was today, you guys don't normally give up so many chances for sure.
Yeah arsenal had a pretty easy time bypassing our entirely midfield today, we were dysfunctional at times.

I would've say we would have won had he been there but he surely would have improve our chances.

Their squad is as thin as ours so I have no idea how they don’t look anywhere near as exhausted as we do.
They've had the last two midweeks off while we've been playing.

They've been very fortunate with injuries, 7 have started every PL game, Odegaard all but 1.

They'll also have 3 of the next 4 midweeks off while we have games.

Arsenal winning the league will be unbearable shit. Please, Guardiola, do something you fraud. You have only one job to do, save us from those insufferable fans celebrations.

They also aren't as interested in the Europa as United are given top 4 was assured midway through the group stages, and it's nailed on now. And now they won't be overly interested in the FA Cup.

Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro, and Rashford are relentlessly playing. It's mental. Martinez and Shaw aren't too far behind.

Do you sing Ipswich Ipswich, Ipswich Ipswich FC? Or do you stretch out Ipswich? Is it I-I-Ipswich? Or I-Ip-Swi-ich? Or even Ipswi-i-ich?
And it’s Iiiiii-pswiiich Towww-n. We make ‘town’ have two syllables. Although I’m sniggering at having to make ‘Ipswich’ a four syllable word!

Remind me of United in 06/07. I actually think this is their only shot to win the title for the next few seasons so If they don't take it now they will badly regret it in the future since I can see everyone being much stronger again next season (Chelsea & Liverpool back challenging, Newcastle spending €€€ on new signings over CL, City being City and us getting new orders and allowing us to spend and improve the squad further)
Until we get the new owners not including us

Ahhhh OK that's not quite as horrendous as I thought, no different to Arsenal, and Everton I heard singing it when we played them recently. Still I'll never understand a team without a 4 syllable name using it, there are plenty of much better chants out there to sing instead.

Saka. This is a player when I first saw him break through the first team thought, meh he's nothing special but everytime I see him now he's looking better and better. He's quick, very strong, has the capability of always making something happening.

I'd say he is definitely the most crucial piece to their attack.

Him and Odegaard are the only 2 Arsenal players I'd love here.

It's like 2015-2016 Leicester 2.0. Just give them a title and let them slither back into obscurity for another two decades.

United still the only team to win three titles on the bounce. Don't want City to match that. Still think this lot will bottle it though. I can't see them beating City.

Something has changed there, Pep laid the gauntlet down to them at HT vs Spurs. It was like watching United in their pomp. Spurs prodded the bear.

Don't agree with the Leicester comparisons but I hope they win it rather than City. Arteta has done really well but he's crafted a team over three seasons with a fair old investment.

They were the better team today but the City games in the league will be key for them. I know they have a game in hand but i actually thought the points gap between them and City was more than 5 points until i looked at the table. 5 points isn't a lot.

Nketia is a baller I can't believe they haven't missed Gabriel Jesus one bit. When he's back from injury I don't think he's going to start immediately.

We assured top 4 midway the group stage ? Assured top 4 in October/November ? That's a new one.
So not interested anymore: tops the group. Fully invested and interested: has to go through playoffs

Minutes played :
Bruno: 1708
Rashford: 1621
Eriksen: 1498
Casemiro: 1158

Xhaka: 1619
Saka: 1626
Martinelli: 1615
Odegaard 1526

You have secure top 4. That's not even a doubt now.

The league is theirs to lose, but then a couple of slips and City are right back in it.

I think with this result, they’ve secured top two finish. It would really take a lot of effort to bottle top two.

April will be the tough games but if they can keep it going until then, it should be theirs

April 8th onwards sees them play Liverpool away, then games away to west ham, city, Newcastle, and home to Chelsea and Brighton. Tough spell but it's worked out well that it's near the end of season in terms of building momentum. Until then they should get around 24 points (esp if they lose the fa cup tie to city)

Fantastic season so far. One loss in the league and a five point lead with a game in hand. .

Arsenal's fans will surely be disappointed with not winning the league from here right? I know before fans wanted to not play it up but barring an injury crisis, this would be some position to blow
We’ll clearly be disappointed, but it’s hard not to be thrilled either way, as it even was to see the improvements last season.

Arteta’s built an incredible side full of very young players, who should still improve from here. If we don’t win it because of injuries to some key players, or because City go on a rampage from here and finish with more than 90 points, that doesn’t take away from the leaps forward the players have made. They’ll win a big one soon either way.

I'm not sure, are we still playing easy fixtures or is that period done now? Yesterday was an attacking exercise, good run out for the lads.

Credit to Arsenal, they really showed us what it's like having two dangerous wingers on both sides of the pitch and we were battered for the last 20 - 30 minutes or so. Tremendous balance throughout their midfield too. Haven't watched Arsenal at all this season apart from the game at Old Trafford, but Saka looked like prime Robben yesterday. Very impressive though Arteta has had quite a head start on Ten Hag in shaping his team.

Played 19 games, already played Spurs twice and Utd twice, but we are lucky our game vs City at home was called off. Had easy games near the start of the season like Palace away, Brentford away and Utd away, games where nearly everyone has struggled.
Now we won't have rough games until April.

I’ll bite.

You narrowly beat a team that played a game midweek without their best midfielder available thanks to a goal that any other week VAR spends an hour looking at only to find one of Zinchenko’s testicles is in an offside position.

Other than that, well done.

It was over before yesterday game.

Too bad about this post, I was going to write how you guys are playing some really good football and if you grab 3 or 4 points in 2 games vs City you'll be 90 percent champions then I see comments like this.

Would love to see Arsenal winning the title. Always support real football clubs over the sugar daddy and oil state toys.

Will the make it? I think a lot depends on City whether they will be able to play a second half like in their last title runs when they hardly dropped points.
Another key point will be their CL run. Might will be that Guardiola sacrifice the league to win the CL like he did in the season when Liverpool was leading by a margin.

Be real. You want them back in CL so that you can score 10 against them.

Most are totally shocked right now. Im not though. The signs of a resurgent Arsenal were visible last season. We missed out on top 4, didn't bottle it, but simply didnt have the quality in the end due to key personnel getting injured. The squad has filled out and is deeper than most people think. Young players are levelling up and the system is allowing all players to flourish.

The person who brought it all together is Arteta. He is a serious manager of real high quality and the sooner our rivals realise it, the better you will be. Because so far has been dangerously underestimated

Look at the typical smug Arsenal supporter right here, nice stuff.
Are you going to be Arsenal's version of Glaston perhaps?
to be fair, there are continued swipes that Arsenal still have had only easy fixtures, and haven't faced any real challenge in the fight for the title yet. Though they've played every team except City.
Even the traditionally tough away games at brentford, crystal palace, spurs, chelse, brighton are not considered to have counted because of either poor form or missing players from the opposition (despite the fact that other top four teams went to those places and struggled themselves too). Ergo, the narrative seems to be driving that Arsenal aren't deserving of their current position or just not playing as well as people think.

No need for that, the United fans have been respectful on the whole.

I thought it was an awesome game. It was kinda like jumping in a time machine and landing in the prime Wenger / Fergie years.

United were really impressive and ETH rebuild has been so quick. I know it’s sacrilege to give your board any credit, but you actually prepared for his arrival quite well and backed him in the Summer. But then, they haven’t backed him in January, so it’s a bit of a weird one.

Anyway, I hope for many more games between us like yesterday where the points matter to both teams at the top the table.

They’re such a weird fanbase these. Whenever they do well they just seem to spend so much time having a pop at everyone else and trying to point score. Just shut the feck up and enjoy it you twats.
They latest is to keep attacking Gary Neville for having the temerity of saying he still thinks City will win the league. As if Neville is being insane to suggest such a thing.

nice post. What I liked best about yesterday was that we gave you a really tough game even without Casemiro. The fella you quoted has been on here a long time I think and had to suffer many years of United winning the lot. Understandable he wants to have his 5 minutes. Funny that this attacking exercise he speaks of resulted in Arsenal conceding 2 goals and nearly conceding a couple more but for a good ramsdale save, the incident where Rashford nearly got between keeper and defender and the chance Eriksen had inside the box.

Neville has constantly denied we are in a title race all season. Then as soon as Man United beat City, declared United were in a title race. Arsenal not in a title race when our lead was 8 (current 5 points game in hand), but United are in a title race 7-10 points of top??

He also said Man United would finish above Arsenal as early as a few days ago, even though United were 8 points of our pace plus a game in hand, now 11 points and a game in hand.

He said Arteta should leave Arsenal as Arsenal would never get beyond 4th, he has even suggested Saka would need to leave Arsenal.

Yet he claims he respect Arsenal and wants us to win the league over City (such rubbish). He is so passive aggressive toward us.

A dangerous combination: a really good team running really hot.

Meanwhile, United are having their own miracle to have that points total with that goal difference.
