But you're just going for players who are obtainable now, which doesn't mean they are the right players long term.

Why not wait and just outbid other clubs for players like Bellingham, Rice, or Osimhen, in the summer? I'm not saying these are the right players either, it just seems you're saying, right they look like a good player let's get them, rather than giving the players you've already got some time under Potter, and then letting him decide what is needed, and then who he wants, there is no way he wants all this to happen so quickly, he'll be under massive pressure to make it work very quickly, which is a big ask.
Perhaps Boehly has the (foolish) idea that top 4 is still obtainable this season? Idk. I think there’s some positives in bringing in players now in a “dead” season and getting them a jump start on life in the PL to prepare for next season. Since nobody expects anything spectacular for the remainder of this season there’s actually less pressure on the new boys.

Waiting and trying to get players like Bellingham and Osimhen is fine if you think you’re in pole position to get them. But those two will be highly sought after by 10 massive clubs. Plus, we don’t need a box to box #8 like Bellingham since we have Kova, Mount, and Gallagher who fill that role. We need a deeper sitting Jorginho replacement most of all.

It’s nearly impossible to think all the players you need to crawl back to the top table are available in 7 months.
We are sitting here reading these posts as if you aren’t 10th but it’s these other signings that’s coming in who will make the difference. We’ll just forget the likes of Koulbaly, Sterling etc.
Your new owners lost all your scouting team from the old regime did they not? How are they accessing these players so quickly never mind the sheer amount of them?
We have hired Brighton’s highly rated scouting team and have appointed both a new technical director from Leipzig and a new sporting director from Monaco.

This isn’t Boehly pulling names out of a hat like some people think.

Who's moving on from their present crop? Jorginho is a cert given he's in his 30s now, Chelsea had three good seasons and high wages. I really thought they'd move Kante on aswell but talk a few weeks back was he's been offered a new deal. Could Kovacic be moved on instead?

Have to think aswell offers will be considered for Conor Gallagher from bids of 40m +.

When did they start work? Before or after the 400m summer?

Why does Boehly feel that he needs to spend all of his money right away? Is he squeezing long term deals in before the summer rule change?

I can’t stand this guy. The absolute gall to pretend that Chelsea have actual fans that are actually real that actually care.

I'm not sure what hiring Brighton's scouting team would do with signing the likes of Gusto, Fernandez, Mudryk etc. It just reads like a list of Wonderkids from Football Manager.

Personally got no problems with this guy as long as he's reporting the news, but that's proper cringe

I would think it's a given that Boehly will be expecting top 4 this season still, one of United or Newcastle are more than likely to go on a bad run at some point, maybe both given our squad depth, and that Newcastle or overachieving. I'd doubt Liverpool or Spurs can take advantage, so I'd think Boehly can quite rightly expect Chelsea to be the ones to take advantage.

Outside looking in, as exciting as it is for the fans of a club struggling spending lots of money, it just looks all wrong, and you're buying too many players too quickly, quite a few of which are likely not to work out, which is fine if you can do the same again when that happens, but you surely won't be able to, so this has to work.

Can't be bothered to wait by the looks of it
I think Chelsea must have realised that it was now or never. This is their last chance to Amortise over 8 1/2 (or whatever years). And the percentage of revenue that can be spent reduces by 10% a year for the next few years,

I am not bitter about it. They have been smart financially. They have used their extensive loan-n-sell network to generate income and scoured the rules to find an advantage.

As a United fan, I think the only saving grace is that Todd Boehly has been scattergun in his approach to some signings (sadly, not this one).

Benfica is another club who has cash raining in every year.

Does anyone know how much they've made from player sales past 5 seasons!?

After Potter was appointed, whenever that was. After the summer window though.

To be fair Paul Winstanley (who was with Potter at Brighton) wanted Mudryk in the summer & it was Vivell who pushed for the signing of Madueke. Not that any of that particularly matters though. I really doubt most top teams in the world would have been unaware of these players?

Both? Or can you at least see how it looks?

There’s too much money in football, we all know that, but Chelsea have gone beyond that now in what they are doing. Not only that it only makes the issue worse.
Interesting. Good to know that you think it’s okay.

I don’t think spending like this is good for football. The game has been like this for years though. As a fan all I can do enjoy watching my team every weekend, but I can acknowledge it isn’t a great look spending this much in such a short period.

That said, I think you should think about what you say online. It’s crass and distasteful and you can do better and I say that as someone who enjoys bickering back and forth with you.

I mean, I do find it a bit crass, but then I'm like that with football fees in general. I mean, Caicedo for £75M+ perhaps? Bournemouth getting an offer accepted for Zaniolo when AC Milan can't. English football in general is just feckin bonkers.
Yeah I agree with you.

Doesn't make much sense from Enzo's perspective but he does really seem to want to come here.

It’s guys like this on Twitter that infuriate. He genuinely believes it’s Chelsea’s pulling power.
Why do you take them seriously?
We shouldn't take you seriously, should we?

Do you think he really wants Chelsea or would he joing any team willing to pay £120m right now? If it was United, would he still really want to join you? Or any other club? Or do you think he just wants to leave and any decent team who pays is enough?

I mean I don’t recall any other club in history spending the amount of money Chelsea has in such a short period of time?

Trying to pass it all off as ‘the norm’ or ‘just football‘ isn’t accurate at all is it?

It’s crass and distasteful to revel in what Chelsea are doing currently yes. I’m glad you can acknowledge it.

Are you ok? I'm questioning why it seems he wants to come here when he would have plenty of options in the summer. Saying it looks like a player wants to come here (which the signs this winter suggests he does) doesn't equate to hur hur warra pull Chelsea have. Settle down.

Or do you think he just wants to leave and any decent team who pays is enough?
Most likely this. The fact that the player has only been at his new club for 6 months and has kicked up a fuss about leaving says a lot about the player.

Well at least we know that you know exactly what you were doing and that you think it’s okay to behave in that way. Happy to end it there and not derail the thread any further.

So you agree with me. That's the only thing I implied really.

Don't worry too much about the hur hur warra pull Chelsea have stuff. It wasn't important.

If they do get it done, what have they spent in the last 2 windows? £600m+ is it?

You implied that I was gloating like that Twitter post when infact its the complete opposite.

More puzzled why he wants to make the transfer now!

I mean being told the truth can be sore. I get it..

Hopefully a few of you will think a bit and perhaps check that moral compass.

Enjoy the rest of Bohleys Millions!
