I think most of us are pleasantly surprised.
can understand that....i could believe when i saw eriksen was out for basically the remainder of the season so moving so quickly on sabitzer is brilliant

Merson thinks this is a panic buy but probably thinks Fernandez for 120 million is a decent little piece of business.

I can not see a point in signing him. Eriksen will be back in 3-4 months anyway, and then what? The only way this make any sense is if United already know they want to sell Fred, Donny or McT.
There’s still quite a bit of football to be played over the next 3-4 months, a month before the season ends. We can’t afford to lose the ground we tenuously hold during that time.

But even here it seems like a panic buy. Is this really the midfielder we want to bet on for more than 3-4 months?
It’s a loan. If we don’t need him in the summer he goes back. If he’s impressed we buy.

But he probably watched him when he was at Leipzig.
Obviously, but that meaning of "knowing" a player is surely not what the poster was refering to. Especially since Ten Hag was coaching 4th division so it's not like he was professionally involved analysing Bayern's Bundesliga competition.

Most reports indicating it's a loan until the end of the season, so perfect. In any case, we need to be looking beyond Eriksen this summer.

Genuinely excited about this. Fits the ETH mould - hard-working, technical player. A midfield 3 of Case, Sabitzer and Bruno looks good.
More hard working than technical. But he’s solid. Think he can do a good job for you guys. But be warned, he needed quite a while to acclimate for us.

Andrei Kanchelskis made me fall in love with Unite

It's a loan. To cover a player who is out for - you guessed it - 3 to four months.

Donny and McTom most likely don't have a future here under ETH.

If it's more than a loan than he could replace any one of them.

If it is a loan then it's as good a last minute replacement for Eriksen as we can find with hours left in the window.

Hard to see a negative slant to this for me personally

He's got some decent stats for the analytics heads

His work rate/engine will be useful against a midfield like Barca's
Yeah and Newcastle's too, sorry Southampton I just can't see you turning it around at St James's Park tonight but happy to be proved wrong

Will probably end up paying €3m for this loan due to BM being cnuts and us being desperate.

Because we're signing European Championship and Champions League winner, Jorginho. One "fan" on Arsenal Mania said, completely unironically, that even if we win the title it will be tainted now. Elements of our fanbase are mental. Thankfully they don't seem to go to games as our match-going fans have been fantastic this season. But it looks like some of our online following would rather "win the transfer window" than win the league. Can't get my head around it.

That's why I hang out here. Having a little moan about being underwhelmed by Sabitzer is the paragon of rationality compared to a lot of Gooner nonsense in the last 24 hours.
Yeah, the title will come with an asterisk.

That's unbelievable. :houllier::houllier:

So a loan deal for an experienced midfielder is a panic buy however another club spending over 500m and now close to 100m for a young midfielder based off a World Cup isn’t screaming panic. Logic as always from the media, then again I remember what a lot of folk said about us signing Cas “past his best” etc.
Its Merson. His opinions are almost always shit

A Bayern squad player. He is a very decent player and can do a job for us. He wont strengthen the first 11, but will strengthen our options. He is a lot better than the other squad players we got

we’ve lost two midfield players DVB who was finally starting to show something and Ericssen who is our main playmaker. The squad is threadbare and we are desperate this is about as good as we could hope for.

What a depressing transfer window after such a good half season.

We obviously were not in for this guy until confirmation of how bad Eriksens injury was.

The lack of spending is probably down to the takeover of the club and not wanting to add huge transfer debt.

I hope its all worth it in the end.
